Wow, never thought I had to worry about ****s blocking me because I wanted to join their game ASAP and help them out. Guess I gotta send a message and wait for them to hastily send back "b/NO9" as they scramble to kite a bunch of ****, IF I ever get a response before the either fail the mission or complete it.

Are you sure? I always set up the invisible status in-game and it has always worked for me. Noone ever joined a game while I was invisible.

Well, it has worked for me this way since I installed origin. Perhaps is a bug that only affects some players. Oh, well...

Even if you mean well, they might not need (or want) your help.

You shouldn't have to go invisible for people to have good manners.

I agree but if nobody ever explained that elbows on the dinner table is considered impolite one might not realize they were being rude. I'm not denying that some people have the intuition to know without a lesson, but not everyone has it

Joining solos mid progress is theoretically possible on PS3 too, and is practically impossible to prevent. If you have old invites from a person, say an invite from a month ago, and use it, it would take you to whatever game they are currently in, provided there is an open spot. I often use old invites to join lobbies quicker, but never lobbies I have not been invited to join. Example: Someone asks me in advance if I want to join a lobby they haven't created yet. Rather than wait the time it takes them to make the lobby then the ungodly time it takes to join, I just join from an old invite. Usually by the time I'm done loading the lobby is created.

Yet another reason why soloing is bad....

Also... the guy apologized. I think you should forgive him SD. Always better to keep a friend/make amends than burn a bridge IMO. Holding a grudge has never been productive.

I know I'm nobody to you but with ALL due respect, Stardusk, I'd give the guy a warning shot. Perhaps he just never thought the scenario through & needed an experience to serve as his lesson in online etiquette 101.
I know from reading your posts that you take the game seriously (and respect you a lot for that reason) but end of the day, it's just a game...and he seems to regret his blunder.

Still, I don't deny you the right to be frustrated

Just my opinion though

This, doubley.

It's a game, I'm assuming they didn't commit this heinous crime to deliberately ruin your day, therefore tell them they buggered up your solo and move on. Get over it, to put it bluntly. Blocking them, making this thread and then rebuffing their public apology does not show you in a good light.

To everyone else harping on about 'rudeness and 'impolite' behaviour, it's a game, online, not a social networking event. I game a fair bit, but I would have had no idea about so many of these correct online gaming social etiquettes that get created. Also in many countries there is no rule of not turning up uninvited to friends houses.

I think blocking your friend is a bit harsh. But then again the ruined the one thing you wanted to achieve most. But people should always ask if they can join a game. I always do that. It's common courtesy.

So its up to you. I would unblock him back when I have calmed down...

You nailed it. I was going to use the anology it is like if you hear moan coming from a van, or in someones house, and break in to "help" .  Plus, stardusk isn't a person who needs help ever! Well at least in game:Dj/k

For PC, the problem of setting your status to Invisible so no friends can see you is negated once you start ME3 up. Origin resets your status to Online so all friends can see you again,

To get around this annoying feature, you need to reset your status back to Invisible through the overlay. Then do your Solo, and then no one will join.

I had the same problem constantly when the challenge system first came out and fiends were constantly ruining my solo work. Origin dropped the ball on this, and it should be fixed so you don't have to reset your status just because you started the game and thought you were still invisible

I've had other friends that this has happened to and they ended up blocking them same as you did Stardusk

Now, there are times I will do a solo and not invisble but dont care if a friend joins. You just 2 man it.

Considering the guy has apologized ad nauseum and it appears to be an honest mistake, it seems more than a little unreasonable for Stardusk to be so harsh about this. It happens. Relax, it's a game. I'm sure you've done something online somewhere that has annoyed someone else and they've forgiven you for it.

And now you know you need to reset invisible status to solo.  Problem solved.

No offense, but the game is not designed for Solo play. Its why they call it multi-player, what you call ninja joining, was just someone using the game as designed. Am I sorry it ruined your solo? Yeah. Is he? Yeah, he even manned up an apologized. You took an earnest apology and threw it back in his face.

I'm not judging you, your time comment indicates that you don't have the time to do it constantly, and you're upset that you lost gear and time. I've had people wander into my solo attempts, I get the feeling. But there has to be a point when you accept the game for what it is, flaws and all. Taking it out on another player is beneath you.

yeah that's a pretty annoying situation. I don't get why they wouldn't give PC players a Private and a Friends only option either.

Sorry for your frustrations PC soloers.

There is a private option on PC, it's called invisible.

But even I think Biower should give an option to lock joining. So unfortunate things like this can be avoided without every single player of ME3 multiplayer knowing that you could just be messing up someones solo when you click the "join" button, thinking nothing bad but that you would end up in a half-empty lobby with someone who is happy to see a friend join.

It's not a Bioware problem, it's EA/Origin problem. People join you through your friends list on Origin

Yeah, I know that. Matchmaking has been a b!tch for the last couple of days.
