It was invisible and almost everone I play with asks before joining. Do you barge into a friend's place without knocking or announcing yourself? Same principle, perhaps you do though....
It certainly was not invisible, someone joined in case you forgot.... and no I do not barge into my friends homes without asking. My friends have a reasonable expectation of privacy in their homes. They do not in a multiplayer game especially when they can set themselves to invisible and not have to worry about someone barging in.
Is that really the best counter argument you have?

Yet, joining a game without an invite/asking to join is definitely bad manner to me. What if I didn't want to play with you at the moment? What if I was waiting for someone else?
Nope, not nice.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but we are posting in the multiplayer forums right? To play this game mode we have to be online and click a button inside ME3 that says "multiplayer" right? Assuming that someone meets all these conditions and is specifically choosing to solo is idiotic especially when they can simply flag themselves as invisible.
If you don't consider someone to be a good enough friend to play with, don't add them to your friends list. You know what adding them allows them to do and you know how to avoid it. Don't blame someone else for your poor decision making.
I personally don't join anyone, I prefer random groups but I wouldn't feel even a hint of guilt if I ruined someone's solo plat attempt, and would actually feel kind of good about it if they then came to these forums to complain about it.
