OP, delete everyone from your friends list and never come back to the forum. Your problems will be solved and so will ours.

No, Scythe has a point, they've known since platinum mode was introduced that people will attempt to Solo everything. It should have been no surprise that such a situation could happen. It does not change my point that the game is working as designed, it illustrates that it is a design flaw by nature.

It's not a Bioware problem, it's EA/Origin problem. People join you through your friends list on Origin

True, but Bioware could give an option next to "Public" and "Private" called "Solo" so noone can join at all.

DLC makes any piece of software defective by design, Origin is no exception.

Just checked to see if it was fixed for me and it seems to be so.  Apparently it wasn't for OP yet

He probably went to bed... senior citizens are an 'early to bed, early to rise' crowd.

Well Stardusk, see it on the bright side:
You've now learned that you have to set your status to 'Invisible' AFTER you've started Mass Effect 3, since EA still hasn't figured out how to let the program remember the status setting...

Ofcourse you blame this former friend of yours for ruining your Platinum solo, you're only human. But since you're such an OLD person (as you always complain about your age), and wise as well, you should know better than to solely blame this guy and keep an eternal grudge on him for his honest (and a bit rude, with an extremely frustrating result) mistake.

I understand he actually DID announce he was about to join you, and granted, he didn't wait for a response, but you could have known you were apparently not invisible at that moment.

Refusing an apology is just as rude as joining a match uninvited

It's 18:00 here and I live where Stardusk does, so no, he probably didn't go to bed.

And his anger is fully understandable, hell you know how angry I would be if I would try to accomplish something like a platinum solo and someone just comes in and screws up my work? I would probably react the same way as he did.

I can't believe that, since for months, I have had friends join me while after I set my status to invisible and had same issue as Stardusk has. As of this past week it was not fixed for me, but is now

Ha hahaa, was gonna post something along those lines but changed my mind because he doesn't "know me from Adam" & I didn't want to make things worse while attempting to lighten the mood.

Glad you did

It was invisible and almost everone I play with asks before joining. Do you barge into a friend's place without knocking or announcing yourself? Same principle, perhaps you do though....

It certainly was not invisible, someone joined in case you forgot.... and no I do not barge into my friends homes without asking. My friends have a reasonable expectation of privacy in their homes. They do not in a multiplayer game especially when they can set themselves to invisible and not have to worry about someone barging in.

Is that really the best counter argument you have?

Deerber wrote...

Yet, joining a game without an invite/asking to join is definitely bad manner to me. What if I didn't want to play with you at the moment? What if I was waiting for someone else?

Nope, not nice.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we are posting in the multiplayer forums right? To play this game mode we have to be online and click a button inside ME3 that says "multiplayer" right? Assuming that someone meets all these conditions and is specifically choosing to solo is idiotic especially when they can simply flag themselves as invisible.

If you don't consider someone to be a good enough friend to play with, don't add them to your friends list. You know what adding them allows them to do and you know how to avoid it. Don't blame someone else for your poor decision making.

I personally don't join anyone, I prefer random groups but I wouldn't feel even a hint of guilt if I ruined someone's solo plat attempt, and would actually feel kind of good about it if they then came to these forums to complain about it.

i think OP should take a cue from his age (which he constantly advertises), do the "mature thing" and forgive someone who has profusely apologized in THIS THREAD.
just a game, no matter how irritating it can get sometimes.
right?

To all the "Origin sucks".. Usually it does, but in this case this is how you create a lobby for friends and avoid others joining and taking their slots and having to kick them....
