I'd feel good because none of it was my fault.  He could have set himself to invisible but did not.  He could have asked me not to join his games without confirmation in the future and ended the conflict right there, but he did not.  Removing me from his friends list and then ranting about it on the forums just puts on full display how irrational and stupid this guy is and frankly I'd be glad he's not on my friends list anymore.

This forum thread is basically the product of a whole bunch of bad decisions when blame lies soley on Stardusk and no one else.

On the other hand if I did this to a friend and their response was more measured, I'd apologize and feel a little guilty about it... and would make an effort to ask for permission before joining them in the future... but the simple fact remains, this is a multiplayer game before it's a soloing game.   My (safe) assumption when I see someone playing who is joinable is that they're playing with people, not soloing.  If they were soloing then they should do what I do and go invisible...... which does work, so please don't try and claim it doesn't.

Wishlist for Origin / ME3 status on PC:

1. Invisible so you can play as a ninja and not be interrupted by anyone joining / chat messages
2. Busy - status set so people know you are online and can send messages but you won't get popups and you can't be joined if mid-game, but you can respond when you're done.
3. Online - normal operation

But also, I want a status line where I can enter text. "Having fun on silver feel free to join", "Want to play gold, around for next 2 hours" etc. And would be even better if you can set that even if not playing, just online or even away, people trying to fill lobbies would know you'd be around and up for a game.

I think I need to mention that stardusk has been working on platinum solos for a while now. Also, mistakes happen so let's not blownthisnout of proportion. Sure it was bad for him to join without waiting conformation, but it could have also been easily avoided by making sure your status is on invisible. You made a mistake in doing so stardusk, and so did he in joining your game. My advice for you is to re add him. The point of the matter is that as humans we make mistakes.

I think sometimes it bugged on PC. I joined my friend's game on gold only me and him (he also set it on private), Guess what?

someone join and my friend also get confused.

Well once again, Origin is bugged

Maybe I just don't get what the big deal is about because I don't tend to befriend people I don't actually know. But this whole thing just seems like such a silly thing to get so wound up over. Especially since there are ways of preventing people from joining.

People that get their panties in such a twist over silly things that they themselves could have prevented are part of the reason I don't befriend people. Like 1% of the reason. 70% of the reason is just because I dislike most random people in general. 29% is because I dislike the drama they bring to something I enjoy so much.

I've had people join on me when I had it set to private. I didn't mind, because if I wanted to make sure no one joined I would have set it to invisible. If I didn't, that's on me, not my friends.

Sorry, I have no sympathy for the OP. What did he really miss out on? He could still finish the Platinum run, he could still get the creds and the XP. All he loses out on is epeen. He wanted to do the platinum solo so he could make a thread on the forum and have everyone kiss his ***.

This is a MULTIPLAYER game, it is meant to be social and be played with friends. If you are really so petty as to block a friend who just wanted to utilize the game how it was intended to be used and play with friends, maybe you shouldn't have any friends.

Frankly, the OP should be apologizing for his immature reaction and publicly embarrassing the friend he blocked (I know he didn't use the name, but how terrible would you feel if a "friend" went on a rant about a mistake you made). It is simply shameful behavior, never put a silly game over a friendship (or your own humanity).

There's no setting for "Friends Only" on PC. Just Public and Private. Friends can join any open lobby on their FL.

I remarked on this the first time I hosted a lobby when I got back to XBox a couple weeks ago. Everyone I was playing with was like "yeah...does what it says on the tin."

Anyway, I agree with Stardusk that it's common courtesy to ask whether you can join. Especially since it's not just a matter of ruining a solo sometimes, but also of taking a reserved spot in a lobby and creating a really awkward situation for everyone.

QFT. Bioware didn't create this mode with the intention of people doing solo runs. All Sythe did was join a game he thought was available because its a MULTIPLAYER game. Plus, he apologised for the inconvenience, but under the circumstances, had no idea what he was doing.

So really, overreaction from OP, guy who is not at fault apologises, and still no "Don't worry about it, its no big deal."

Its a fricking GAME dude.
