Earth is under attack! Good thing we were on Mars and found a way to stop the Reapers moments after!

Considering he controls the Reapers, there's all the time in the world to explain.

Also impossible is the idea that the Protheans could get it here since Sol is relay-accessable and thus would be cut off once the Reapers invade.

Weren't they studying the humans before the invasion, though?

Therefore, they knew about reapers before the invasion, and did absolutely nothing. Brilliant retcon. :wizard:

Absolutely nothing? Like Admiral Hackett partnering up with Liara to find the Crucible device and decrypting the data on Mars?

Sorry fact is humans did NOT have access to all the data on Mars.

So the totally critical data on saving the entire galaxy is locked because.... why?
Wouldn't this super critical data be highlighted and pointed to everywhere, in case those apes have trouble reading a computer screen?

Ah yes.
Instead of defending themselves, they put information about Crucible in small Mars bioresearch station and nowhere else, because OBVIOUSLY, humans are special, and protheans know about it. It was all their plan.
And that is all they did before reapers invasion, because reasons.

Well, the rest of the galaxy (most of it, anyway) either didn't know about the Reaper threat or refused to believe it, so the Protheans needn't have bothered.  That's not to say that there weren't other installations with those same designs, but at the same time, the Catalyst does imply that the Reapers did try their best to get rid of all evidence of the Crucible plans.

When the race that comes before you outlines plans for a giant weapon to be used, you take note of it.

However, the game leans heavily on the idea that these plans were found the day the Earth was attacked. How do you miss something like this?!

Additional narratives can be connencted to other narratives, that was never a problem. It becomes a problem when an other narrative is needed to fundamentally understand the primary narrative.

Mass Effect is now a multimedia franchise, not just a game series.

Irellevant.

And yet its all explained in the narrative of ME3.....

On Mars

Shepard: We known about the Archives for decades, why now?

Liara: Process of elimination mixed in with a little desperation. When you destroyed the Alpha Relay, you bought us some time, but then you were under investigation. I knew I had to do something. Hackett knew it too, he contacted me asking me for a way to use my resources as the Shadow Broker to stop the Reapers. My search led me here. Hackett got me access to the archives and kept me updated on your status.

Its all in the narrative...you ar eignoring this to make false criticisms.

I don't think it suggests that the plans were found the day of the invasion; I mean, enough time must have passed since the discovery that Cerberus could both find out about it and send Eva Core to inflitrate the place, and also for the Shadow Broker to find out and get there.

Wrong again....

Liara finds that the key unlocks THREE sites, one unknown, one that was erased, and one that Liara could recognize, Mars.

I think the game leans on that there were "leads" to something being on Mars, but the actual plans weren't found until that day.

Still though, it's been what, 30 years? How does it take that long to find plans that would be the EASIEST to find?

The narrative shows that the finding of the plans for the device and Eva's infiltration was BEFORE the Reaper invasion.

I could be mistaken but wasn't it a small cache of data in ME1? Did it get retcon into massive archives? And why didn't Admiral Hackett act sooner, immediately after the events of ME1?

Because its encrypted and the key is on Kahje which forbids explorers due to the reverance of their sites to the Hanar.

So, Cerberus found these plans and got Eva inside... and it takes how long to grab the plans and run? But no, she sits around apparently then and waits until she's locked outside and has to fight her way back in to get the plans.

That makes no sense either.

That defeats the entire point of storing the plans for a later race to finish it!

Scumbag Prothean: "Hey, I'm going to encrypt these galaxy saving files."
Other Prothean: "Isn't the point so that those apes that come after us will be able to build it?"
Scumbag Prothean: "Yeah, but I'm going to die so i don't feel like it."

01/10/2011 - Scientists on Mars Assess New Chamber in Prothean Ruins

“Controversy brews tonight as scientists on Mars assess the contents of a newly opened chamber in the Prothean ruins. The opening has been a dream of exoarchaeologists for decades, delayed by the many steps necessary to replicate Prothean code keys and crack the cryptography for entry. Critics say the Milky Way Foundation, which provided supercomputers for the cryptanalysis, could hoard any Prothean discoveries. Dr. Unira T'Lam, liaison from the Citadel Committee on Paleotechnology, says she's been kept in the dark. "Foundation personnel have orchestrated a security system that keeps out everyone except a select cabal," she accuses. "Anything could be taken from inside and we'd never know." Dr. Ilsa Warren, who heads the analysis unit, dismisses the allegation. "We've made it clear all technology stays in situ throughout the cataloging and analysis process, which could take years," she says. "Dr. T'Lam's fears would be more appropriate closer to the end of the decade."”

Ah yes, "twitter storytelling". A concept that something should be considered canon for a fiction, when it is not a part of said fiction. We have dismissed that claim.

Anyway, you missed the point completely, as always.
And point is - new retcon of protheans suddenly knowing about reapers before the invasion and doing absolutely nothing. :wizard:

and where did you get this false claim.....

Rememebr it took a long time for the Reapers to take out the Protheans.

"Twitter storytelling" or was it in the major comic releases this year?

You are choosing to ignore clear lore that contradicts your claims.

Comics should not be a substitute for having it in game. Niether is twitter or books.

Hey txgoldrush, you're kicking butt in here. Seriously, it's nice when someone besides me points out the hypocrisy and double standards people around here have about the first 2 games. You're also destroying everyone in this argument. Nice job so far.
