Remember when development first broke of the next DLC will have "high potential for tears" at this stage the only thing I can see this translating to is if a major popular character in the next DLC is killed off.

http://www.polygon.c...ntial-for-tears

Going back and looking at Chronos Base as well as the Earth Missions, the only characters that are required to be alive for either of those missions are EDI and Joker, so that rules them out, everyone else is fair game.

Thoughts?

Liara, EDI, and James all have death immunity until the final beam rush.

This is never going to happen. Killing squadmates in DLC is not only a poor way to get us to shed these alleged 'tears' but it is also just plain not feasible for multiple reasons. Not least of which is goign to be the fact that not many people are going to want to buy a DLC where the point of it is to kill off a character we love.

The only way this would happen is in some kind of epilogue DLC. In any DLC taking place before the ending, this just plain isn't going to happen.

Please don't. They couldn't even off Nyreen in a convincing way and the whole theme of sacrifice feels so forced.

Only EDI does, what's so important to keep James and Liara alive in the last 2 missions?
Never say never

Nyreen was rather poorly handled, introducing a new character only to kill her of a few hours later isn't what I'd call a defining moment

That's what I'd call a Red Shirt moment.

I dislike ME3 a LOT and even I would buy a DLC if it meant I could personally put a bullet in Liara's brain. (this is the one reason I did not buy Omega)

James has a scene before Sanctuary, and Liara has Thessia.

Which means this supposed DLC with the sole intention of killing off a squadmate for... reasons, I guess, can only be played between Sanctuary and Chronos Station. And because it's possible ot have a playthrough with only EDI, James, and Liara on your team, and EDI has to live to play through Chronos, and you need to have two squadmates to continue the game at all, that means you're not going to be allowed to kill EDI no matter what.

It's more trouble than it's worth for something with no pay off and thus no point. Honestly, topics like this are a cancer, it's just people trying to stir up bad feelings and fan rage.

Nope, never going to happen in a DLC, Bioware is not stupid and know that killing a major squadmate in a DLC will end as a big disadvantage to sell it.
DLC are optionnal, so it won't modify much things that were established months ago by the original game.

aye .. a dlc only adds new content. even the ec did not change anything. it just addes slideshows and a cringeworthy evac-scene.

Then look at it this way: what if the payoff for this DLC is a new ending option? considering its supposedly based on the citadel there's a chance it might mean we'd meet the Starchild early

would you sacrifice a squadmate for the ending fans want?

in germany we have a saying: "zuckerbrot und peitsche" (carrot-stick approach). i would not buy it - even if the "reward" would be a new ending.

There is no 'theme' of sacrifice after Nyreen's death.

There is nothing much to look at.
A short dlc is not though like a game, this is new contant that is expensive to make and they want to sell it in high number. Changing anything related to the main game, especialy killing squademate wich are not numerous already will automaticaly ****** off people and cause a ****storm.
That's why ALL DLC are "any playthrough friendly", because any people should be able to play it, doesn't matter who lives and who died during the ME trilogie.

At best, i can agree it could give a new OPTIONNAL ending, but it will never... EVER... take back something important that was granted by the main game, it's just obvious in first place.

I would defenetly trade one squadmate to have ANY new ending, half ME3 squadies are boring or useless anyaway, even Liara became less intersting than ME1 e 2.

Could be some well known NPC, that they will kill off...like Bailey...makes sense, if Citadel is involved..

Perhaps the tears come from knowing who's writing it. I was certainly distraught when I heard Super MAC was writing for the game again.

Maybe if it is either a choice between two new Squadmates (my whole Vorcha or Batarian thing) Or a current one and a new one (Maybe please me, Liara or a Vorcha. I don't even like Liara!) Or make things hard on everybody (Garrus or Wrex, or Liara and a Batarian)

If it killed Garrus or Kaidan, I definitely wouldn't play it.  A near death experience?  Maybe, but please don't just kill them <_<

Edit: I forgot they already had those.  Oops.
