Well, what do you want them to do? They have clearly exhausted their pool of ideas years ago.
I say it's about time they make remakes of remakes and get some more money out of the classics. Oh, already been done you say? Well, how about a reBOOT of a remake? Or a remake of a remake of a reboot? The possibilities are endless, and you don't even need to be creative to make a buck!
This reminds me of a guy on the radio in Bloodlines with his movie idea. It's about these FBI agents that don't really work for the main FBI...

No no I just don't like the new remakes. Why can't any directors/producers come up with a new idea of their own? I don’t understand why Hollywood can’t come up with a decent story that hasn’t already been done yet.termokanden wrote...

Directors/Producers very rarely come up with ideas on their own, quite often, they're not even involved in the idea process when a movie is being written.
I'd also argue that the whole "They don't make anything new" arguement is flawed. The entire "Remake" era has had numerous new IPs, many of which have done quite well. Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception, Prometheus, Avatar, Scott Pilgrim, amongst others.
I agree that there's too many remakes, when you're digging up Short Circuit, Red Dawn, and other very 80's movies you're definitely spending too much time doing remakes. I'd just argue that even with all the remakes, they've released alot of really decent new IP's.
