Nah, that scene is too heavy. They were right to cut it. It's not like the implied sexual abuse of James Vega, when Shepard find Ashley laid on the floor.

That's the first I heard of this... Never occurred to me.

VIDEO
Ashley:"Vega said he had 'just the thing' to take my mind off Stuff."
Shepard "And did that 'thing' come in a bottle?"
Ash: "Yes."
Shep: "This empty bottle?"
Ash: "It's empty? Oh, boy..."

So, Vega get Ash drunk, she come to the point she have no memory of what happened last night, and is left quietly on the corner, while Jimmy slips off, without anyone noticing.
Yeah, totally innocent behavior, and Jimmy never ask for help to handle Ashley, not because he is hiding something he did, but because he completely forgot to bring her to the infirmary.

That's how you interpreted it?

What's shocking is that there are seriously people out there who think being religous is a detriment to Ash's character. I get not liking the racism thing and even that was taken out of context, but hating her for being right wing in a left wingers game is pretty disgusting.

Wish they'd kept that scene now. That looked really well done and any extra content for Ashley is always appreciated.

Being religious is right wing? Doesn't the Bible in fact refer to the communal property arrangements of the early Christians? Seems a little left wing to me.

I liked this scene!

I also would like to know about Sheperd's experience before, while, and after he died. It has equal religious theories and pure curiosity.

And as "Han Shot First" said; she is too quiet on the Normandy and could use some more stage time.

Had this and more scenes existed, I might have actually picked Ashley for my second playthrough.

At least it's not as bad an interpretation as I've heard in the past.

It was removed because the world is becoming even more PC since the first game was released. And oh no!, wouldn't want to offend any of the religious zealots now would we.

You talk about religion with Ash in ME1.

Also she does ask Shepard if he remembers anything if you bring her to assault the Cerberus Base.

Plus it's better if Shepard doesn't remember anyway. He said he didn't in ME2: "The last thing I remember is the Normandy blowing up." It keeps the element of mystery surrounding that.

Also how do we know this scene is real? Looks like someone screencapped the love scene and added new subs.

That's exactly what was done.

But the lines are from the leaked script.  I read it months before the game
s release and actually looked forward to having that conversation.  Sadly, it never made it into the final game

.  And the conversation allows you to expand on what Sheaprd does (or does not) remember.  Even in the "I saw a light" dialogue, Shepard is unsure if that wasn't just lights from  the Cerberus lab.

Hmmm.... I'm really would have liked that scene to be in.

It feels very natural for Ash to be curious about Sheps death and the way Shep answers is very well worded.

I don't think they left it out because of prudence concerning religious topics. Maybe it was a pacing issue or something.

I read the leaked script too. Didn't see that.

Also the light he saw was when he woke up to Miranda and Wilson in the Cerberus lab. They tranquilized him again and he passed out. You see that in the game. Shepard nearly died a second time because he wasn't healed enough to be in there.

It's there.  i still have a copy of the file.  And jtav posted the original text on this very thread recently

as to the light Shepard saw, remember this is the same game that thinks the rachni queen promised to disappear forever if you freed her.  Details between games can get...fuzzy :P

Lol, worse interpretation than Vega raping Ash? It's even funnier if you're romancing Ashley, and Shep doesn't even care about it

This.

It doesn't do anything that is anti- or pro-religion, but it addresses a relevant point and is completely true to what Ashley would ask.  It also brings up the point (which now only comes up near the end) of Shepard questioning what or who s/he now is.  That's important.  But, it probably is not in keeping with them trying to convince us that green is best.

I like it because it shows what and who Ashley is-she's not just a one dimensional bimbette, but someone who cares deeply about things and does question her own beliefs.  It makes her real.

I would have hated to have seen it in the game. Was just re-reading it again today and it stinks of the attempt to overwrite player characterisation with a fixed auto version of Shep that ME3 goes with at certain points. Shame as much of the first half is actually rather neutral and decent(and everyone could have enjoyed it) but then the last few lines try to overwrite player feeling/motivation in ME2 and ME3. Really hope they return to actually giving the player the say on such things in MEA rather than trying to force this kind of nonsense.

Shouldn't be a shock it was cut. It's basically Bioware saying there is no afterlife and all religion is bunk. Not a smart marketing move, especially in this day and age when PC is everything and I don't mean personal computer.

If it was cut for fear of the religious angle i find that rather odd as its rather non committal regarding religion, with the character neither neither supporting nor dismissing it, just holding no memory.

I really hope it was cut because it assigns motivations for the player character without even offering a range of choices which is a huge no no as far as an RPG goes imo.

You mean on the ship? I agree.

On missions she does have some good dialogue depending on your playthrough. If you take her on the Rachni mission, she will have a couple of lines of dialogue, but if you take her on the mission to rescue the turians she will have more dialogue. I'm sure you know she add's dialogue during the turian bomb mission.

If you didn't know. Doing the bomb mission after Rannoch, she will be heard talking with Tali over the intercom

Spoiler

Another is if she is taken on Priority Earth without James, she will have a lot of dialogue. If James is taken with her, he will have all the dialogue.
