i keep seeing thse games compared to DAO in the reviews-

1 WOW laughable outright, its NOT an RPG in the sense that DAO is, period.
2 oblivion nope. no RPing here.
3 fallout 3? you mean oblivion 2?
4 baldurs gate?

the
only ones that come close are the last 2 games that are10 years
old!!!!! nothing is like DAO. before or anything coming anytime soon.
because people dont make immersive RPGs anymore. they make fancy
looking MMO money grabs.

I didnt play DAO yet, but
Neverwinter Nights 2 - Mask of the Betrayer was pretty awesome. Your
companions are very interesting (Gann is the best chaotic neutral
character ever), the story (everything is about you, no "save the
realms because you are the chosen one" cr@p)

I was going to say the same. NWN 2 had a really interesting story imo.
I also really liked Mass Effect, mostly because the cutscenes are some
of the best sci-fi I've ever watched. I completely don't understand the
Fallout 3 hate at all. I thought FO3 was brilliant as long as you can
accept that it is *shocker* not a 2D isometric turn-based game.

So far this one blows them out of the water. No question.

Epic thread for an Epic game. I find all my time at work this morning is spent thinking about the game, the decisions I've already made and those I will face when I 'return to Fereldan'. This game has all the great storytelling, humor and epic decisions Bioware has become renowned for. Congratulations on a job well done to all the Bio-devs, and thanks for sharing your vision and story with us!

Disappointingly I've only been able to pull away from classes and sleep for about 12 hours to play this game since I picked up my pre-order and started playing late Tuesday night. But in those 12 hours this game is already coming close to knocking Baldur's Gate 2 off of my top favorite game of all time. This thing is amazing, and I am especially loving the party banter.



Purely beautiful. 6 years of waiting was worth it. Completely worth it.

I think this game is great..but to be the best game ever it would have to excel in all areas...unfortunately low-res poor textures don't work to create the best game ever



I'm not even a graphics person but I just can't get passed some of the quality...the problem is you have great quality with very poor quality right next to it..which just doesn't make sense.

The plot and intrigue is so finely woven that it is unpredictable and blows you away as it unfolds in a manner that is not overtly obvious. As a result there are characters that I hate and want nothing more than to get revenge on them. Anytime a story line can cause a gamer to feel strong emotion (good and bad) it can't help but be epic.

Best of the year for sure. I love this game. Much better than even classics like BG2 and KOTOR.

I agree with the OP. The graphics are excellent, but that's not the most important thing. The voice work is exceptional, but that still isn't the most important thing. What makes DAO shine brighter than other games is the superb storytelling. I've been playing computer games since the original Colossal Cave text adventure game, and I'm happily surprised to be surprised by some of the story twists in this one.

I should be as far as some of you, but I have been going back and forth between my PS3 and PC copy. Each have their benefits, but really, Bioware, thank you so much! Another masterpiece. I was wondering if I would like this better than ME. That is a yes, without any hesitation or doubt. (not to say ME2 collector's edition won't be pre-ordered as soon as its in Gamestop's system).

I agree that it will be in the running and certainly top contender for GOY, but alas I am sure that honor is going to go to either COD:MW 2 or Uncharted 2. Just my 2 cents.

The only reason why I have slept is that I have to let other people use the computer... Why I let them play DAO when I could be playing it I'm not sure.
