Okay my question is in regards to the DLC Mak of the Assasin and the way a romanced Isabela reacts to Hawke openly flirting with Tallis in front of her . Apparently regadless of Hawke's gender all Hawke love interests react jealously when Hawke flirts with Tallis  with the exception of Isabela who only reacts jealously if Hawke is female. Although she is ultimately willing to share hawke  of either gender as long as Tallis "asks nicely" It doesn't seem to bother her in the slightest when male hawke shamlessly flirts with Tallis. While flirting with Tallis she will at one point say "So it's true what they say about you"  to which  Lady Hawke gets "She likes rogues. Rivaini rogues especially."  and Male Hawke gets "Oh it is. Trust me"
Does anyone have any theories as to why the different responses? My theory is that perhaps Isabela reacts this way because femHawke is the first woman she has had a serious emotional attachment to and not just a casual sexual relationship and therefore feels slightly more threatened. Has anyone else put any thought into this? I'm interested to know what other people think about this.

This is pretty much what I thought about it. When you have sex with her she says she fell in love with a man before her "husband" died. Her so called "husband" was also pretty shallow and treated her badly probably making her more wary of men. Plus she is a pirate and has been on a ship full of men and probably tires of them so when it comes to a woman she cares about she is more protective of her relationship with her as it is more uncommon than a man. She probably just prefers woman in general, in a banter with Bethany she says men are good for one thing while woman are good for six. This may imply that she prefers woman over men. Another is right after you have sex if you are a man she says "I was curious about you and now my curiosity is sated" while if you are a woman she says "it was fun wasn't it, if you ever want to do it again" further implying she prefers woman. So when her relationship with a woman is challenged she will want to protect that more than if she was in one with a man. Sorry if thats repititive or confusing :P

To add to Monkey's post, Isabela makes a remark when encountering Emeric of how cruel the world is to women. Therefore, I must agree that Isabela appears to be more protective of women in general.

I agree with most of if this besides the idea that it suggests she prefers women. i don't think that's the case at all. If that was the case it wouldn't really fit that she has never had a relationship with a women outside of casual sexual encounters.  To me those comments are more of a front than anything because she feels she has more to prove to men and has experienced more pain and heartbreak. She's more guarded with Male Hawke and considering she eventually falls for for Male Hawke her comment about her curiosity being stated was obviously a bluff. The fact that most of her known daliances involve men also contradicts the idea that she prefers women.

That make sense. Maybe instead of her prefering women she might be more protective like MisterJB said. I forgot the Emeric moment about her saying the world is horrible to women. I just took the rest of it as her prefering women over men. But her being protective of femHawke makes sens edue to her beliefs on how women are treated

The idea of her being more protective of women seems likely as appose to the idea that she prefers women as partners (not much evidince to support that).  She does seem to have a bit of a chip on her shoulder about how things are for women. It would be interesting to get a perspective from the person who wrote Isabela.

you know what would have been nice if anything, is if you had done the act2 and if you "duel" (i really hate this term considering what it all intaled running around trying not to get impaled and waiting for him to hit something to beat on him...) Hawke shoudl have been able to say to her, not used to having (gender) duel for you?
