Epic line, dmurphy.

But yeah, their running long-jump of doom kinda sucks at times. With the Hurricane though, I seem to be lucky. And to buzz-saw through their armor.

For an armoured unit they far to agile and fast.
And look utterly braindead as they execute their smash attacks. It's a pity bioware won't fix the blade armour glitch on Gold. There's nothing better than seeing on the kill feed - Blade Armour Dragoon

this.

But dragoons are also like,
*run up in your face
*stun you
*stun you again
*dodge back and kills in two bursts.

Whoever decided that giving them hornets was a good idea should be punished.

Personally i never really have an issue with these dudes.
They can come at me all they want and die over and over.

Now i will say this over all i have had enough of those
"Its coming right for us!" types of units this game is
suppose make you feel more like your in tactical
fire fight. Not feel like "Seriously they wont stop?"

At the end of the day its whatever cause i have
rarely been over-run by anything.

the speed of these armored units is stupid, but ok.
probably their mouth is armored too so they are silent, but ok.
you can not stagger them consistently, but ok.

but what is it with their "armor gate"? it seems ALWAYS remains a bit piece of armor (on gold at least), no matter what i hit them with...

I'll admit they can ruin solo attempts entirely, but when playing as the game is designed, in a squad of 4, they do what they're supposed to do, they disrupt your line or holding position quite perfectly. My annoyance level totally depends which character I'm playing, although dodging and repositioning you can easily take them out after their extended attack animations. I probably find them more dangerous shooting if I run away than once they get in close to Smash.

I've had some problems against them in the beginning, but now I enjoy fighting them with an ex cerb vanguard/adept or a volus. That defense bubble is amazing. I was cornered on Ghost (prefab to the far right when you leave the LZ, where you can sometimes have a hack), and I beat them all without using a gel. Clever use of shield boost and biotic orbs made my day. But against a drell or a vorcha without bloodlust going, they are a major pain.

I dont have a problem with them. But I treat them with respect. They are akin to the Geth Pyro, very dangerous if you let them get close. Difference being of course its hard to retreat from a dragoon and they close distance very fast. Ok... maybe not that similar to a pryo, but the point is, be respectful of the danger they posses.

Without them cerberus would be boring.

What I don't understand is how their biggest weakness is being in close range; I find I kill them far more often with every kit if I just let them get close to me and time my shots or attacks accordingly. In fact, unlike most other units in the game they are not that big of a threat in cqc so long as you see them coming.

Any Geth, Marauders, and Cannibals are FAR more dangerous if they get too close to you then a Dragoon.

If you want to take less damage from a dragoon, you should actually run towards and around them and not back pedal from them.

They are run faster than your back pedal, so if you try to back pedal they will just keep shooting you at close range until they melee you.
Their melee doesn't lock on, so you can easily side step it (Just walking is good enough, but I guess running is safer). They also stop shooting when they melee you.

Having said that thou, I do find it very annoying when a team mate tries to hide behind me.... But I guess this is no different to any unit with splash damage.

Hate them more than the geth bombers. Both these units are too strong but the dragoon are a nightmare. Cerberus was much better when these units were not present.

DC on the Huntress staggers them quite nicely. The problem IMO is that they are so damn fast. They flank you so easily and when they aren't leaping 10 meters to last your ass, they are poppin off that pistol.
And out of all the the mobs, they are the quicketst to stomp you out.
They really need their speed lowered.

Yeah I do this sometimes... playing ring around the rosey lol. The effed up thing is that so many other bugs contribute to not being able to handle them properly under pressure. For example, two Dragoons that are in close proximity.. lob a nade right?
"Oh wait.. where's my nade? I hit the button. Ok, once more..hmm.. no nade.. OK once more - oh crap I'm dead.."

I still hate the geth on any level...more than any other faction, that said while the dragoons super leap can be a tad annoying, i like them. When they show up with their girlfriends (phantoms) everybody scrambles.

I think the cerb guys needed this faction....because everybody else was pretty much easy to take care of save maybe for that engineer...if he sets up multiple turrets, combined with dragoons and phantoms, prepare to see alot of white skulls on the field.

Other than that and i don't want to sound like a jerk as everybody plays with different characters, but the majority of the time i play with the slayer and phoenix vanguards that pretty much handles them...folks with casting powers (engineers, adepts, sentinels etc) also can slow these guys down.

They always miss me. They do distract you from little miss stabby though.

When she isn't near though I scoff heartily while gunning them down.

This^

The number of times I've been backing away from 2 dragoons .... into a Phantom Instakill .... lost count!

Having said that, they're relatively simple to deal with if you have a character with a good dodge.  I often end up playing ring-o-roses around a rock while they chase me around it. Very amusing.

Good Phantom killers are the Fury and anything with overload (especially with phase disruptor ammo) e.g. TGI

I struggle against them when I'm running a weapons class cause they'll just run right through my gunfire. My human sentinel handles them pretty well. They never dodge her warp/throw combo and I can take 2 or3 down at a time.

Since they limited their numbers they only really annoy me when wave 11 comes around and they just keep on spawning. Their speed means that no matter how late you leave your dash to the shuttle there will nearly always be at least one in the EZ whipping away at everyone. Ruddy PITA.

Dragoons? Not really

Phantoms? Oh God yes!
