Nope. Hunter mode always on and max out for me.

You may as well be using the Salarian Infy without Energy Drain, since he has better health.

Viable, but if you're good enough, use Hunter Mode.

Yup. I specced my salarian infiltrator 6/6/0/6/6. No points in energy drain.

Geth without hunter mode is like having 20/80 and refusing to wear glasses/contacts.

Yes.
Only when I use my melee-reegar build though.

I can understand no HM on the GE or GTS, but on the GI it is almost a must, unless you really don't like it for whatever reason.

I do, but only because it bothers my eyes.

only 6 classes get ROF bonus and its arguably the best bonus you can get to increase a guns potential. no thanks.

I played with someone who did (they used a javelin which I guess was their rationale.) They were alright. Frankly, I'd never do that though. Why not use the salarian infiltrator if you're going to skip out on it?

OP did I ever tell you about the time I had pumpkin pie without the pumpkin goodness in the center? Yes, just the crust. It was "ehh, ok I guess." Just like your idea.

On the Geth Engineer, I've been doing great without Hunter Mode. Fire Explosions, Fire Explosions everywhere.
On the GI, though, I wouldn't drop Hunter Mode. It's a character all about doing massive amounts of damage, so having that Hunter Mode available is key. Two best builds for this character are 46664 (my personal favorite, since it can use any weapon effectively) and 66660 w/ Javelin, which is also very powerful.
EDIT: You can also put 5 Ranks into Proximity Mine and get an additional rank of Fitness or Tactical Cloak. Not a bad idea either, as the quicker shield regen helps compensate for the GI's squishiness, the faster Cloak recharge speed can be useful if you tend to stay invisible for a while, and both of the melee evolutions give the GI a good close quarters tool, especially if you're using a sniper rifle.

I haven't played a Geth in a while, but due to eye strain neither my Trooper nor Engie have it, so I may start skipping it on the GI, too.
