No arguement, I'm just saying Bioware seemed to miss the memo about us not carrying for trolling villians. They could have solved the problem by giving Harby better lines, instead they muzzled him and gave his trollyness to Leng.clarkusdarkus wrote...

i agree, sorry if my reply came across blunt, your right tho looking back at kai leng, bioware clearly thought giving him the illusion his our equal yet i didnt read the comics so knew nothing of him, t least harby was in ME2 without the need of a comic to get who he is.Greylycantrope wrote...

I'd love a suicide-style mission with your whole squad inside Harbinger, just sayingIthurael wrote...

While I agree that the traditional 'bullet sponge' fight has lost its appeal, I do stand that it is at least good practice to implement some kind of encounter that requires unique gameplay or a unique design.
The TIM encounter did this perfectly (although relativity unsatisfying to many and a rather poorly written exchange) the design of that fight was impeccable. Before the beam run we could have had a scene like this (war asset and choice dependent) and the beam run could have had two or three permutations:
- High EMS: Harbinger severely damaged when arriving at Earth
- Mid EMS: Harbinger damaged but still able to stand
- Low EMS: Plays like normal i suppose
At the end of the beam run harbinger is either destroyed by war assets (leaving shep severely injured from the collateral damage) for High EMS. Or, for low EMS, the scene plays out like normal. The 'boss fight' in this case isn't a fight it is a collection of scenes that show how your choices affect the game play. Additionally, during the final stand mission the # enemies could be reduced by a % based on EMS. But alas...
What I can't stand is when game companies just throw a f*ck ton of enemies at you and call it the 'final battle' It just feels unsatisfying. It also feels lazy (to me at least). There was no resolution with the character or the buildup of Harbinger.
Harbinger is just one Reaper. In Mass Effect 3, you've got thousands of them to defeat. So defeating Harbinger doesn't solve anything really. Reapers are kind of like a hive mind, kill one, and the next Reaper comes in and takes Harbinger's place.
However, that whole EMS thing is basically how the ending played out (choices affect the ending),
Earth severely damaged
Earth completely vaporized
Earth saved, Shepard lives
etc.
You are correct, without starkid, killing harbinger is irrelevant in the end as he is just another reaper (albeit my favorite)
However, he is blocking you from your goal (thus why killing him would matter in that context) and the EMS would determine your success in killing him or at least resolving his character arc.

Actually from a literal standpoint, Harbinger was destroyed by the Crucible, or you took control of him, etc. So the destruction, etc, of Harbinger was the "closure" for his character.
In the end though, you can't really "demand" that they do this (like the title suggests). You can ask, but it's up to them whether they implement something like this.
"I" do not demand bioware doing this. Harbinger does. Actually, I think IT indoctrinated bioware in order to win the war during the project. It is brilliant.
So, my conclussion is that Harby won the game itself while being developed, by indoctrinating Mac and company. Commander Drew tried to stop this, but he was fired

Heh, so long as we're on conspiracy theories, have you seen the one where Harbinger was indoctrinating/manipulating Shepard so that he could overthrow the Catalyst? Interesting read, albeit I don't think Bioware is capable of anything this subtle. *sigh*
Ohhh man, just the battlecries as they close in! I'm torn between the Rachni and the Destiny Ascension as my favorites!

As I said, I prefer the theory where Harbinger ASSUMED DIRECT CONTROL on bioware and won the game

Is not submission preferible to extinction?
