Doesn´t Miri die if you do that?

I go for Liara. Love the voice Hillis gave her, and by ME2 she´s out of her fangirl gushing and gets more interesting as a character. Miranda was interesting in ME2, but ME3 didn´t follow (why give her such plot armor and then not use her?). Tali always felt like a little sister figure, and the fact that she´s a teenager in ME1 (at 22!) would make me feel really awkward trying to romance her.

Try Merrill in DA2.  Everytime I walked into a new zone I expected to hear Chris Hansen tell me to have a seat.

Bang everyone.

Sha'ira and Liara in ME1, Miranda, Jack, Tali, Kelley and Liara again in ME2, then Ashley and Butterface McGee in ME3.  Or Kill Ashley and bang Liara once more, third time's the charm.

If only Traynor could be slipped a roofy.

And in case you're wondering how.  In ME2 you can dump a character after the final mission and then go through another's romance arc if you hold off from doing every convo with them prior, thus the "pick one" convo never happens.  Then when you finish the arc the romance scene automatically plays out as if you hadn't gone on the mission yet.  Easy peasy.  You can knock out two birds before the final mission if you bang Jack in the rat nest, but you don't have to.  That tear smeared eyeliner in the love cabin is so ****in sexy.

Alas, if you just want a legit trilogy spanning relationship, Liara is da best.  Tali would of been great too if they didn't **** her over with that **** photoshop.

Asari reach adulthood between 40 and 60 years old, and Liara is 106 at the start of Mass Effect 1.

Liara, think on it. In 50 years when Shepard is old and wrinkly, Liara will still look banging hot.

Shepard won't be old and wrinkly in 50 years, he might not even be middle aged by that point.

Well you can view the LI from 2 POVs.

The first one is - who gets the most "romance" content and development.
If that's what you want - go with Liara. She has romantic moments in all games and has the most sex scenes - with an actual nude model. (and it lasts more than 4 seconds).
She's Bioware's favourite poster girl after all.

Now, if you think about who's the best at genuinely expressing their emotions, behaving and developing like an actual character, rather than a simple scripted tool from green-skinned alien baewbs trope - i'd suggest going with Tali.

Because, In My Humble Opinion, Liara is a really bad character. Literally, one of her first lines to Shepard is "Ah, Shepard, there must be a connection between you and me!'' She takes the least amount of time and dialogue to romance and when you suggest a threesome in first ME1 she just accepts it and thinks you've chosen her when Ash storms off. I literally picked that choice just to screw with her but nope, Liara was Shatnering her way across the galaxy.

Her progression from ME1 to ME2 is simply bogus - She goes from an Innocent nerdy girl with mystical voice to a Vicious nerdy girl with mystical voice. I know there was a comic that explained that but the way it was presented ingame was executed rather poorly and disjointed.

She's even okay with you sleeping with other women, even the likes of Diana Allers!

For me Liara always felt like a friend more than a LI. And since ashley went and became a total doubter. Tali. Always felt right somehow.

IMO Miranda is the best LI, but for Bioware it's Liara.

My opinion is absolute.

ME1: Ashley

Best written romance, she acts like a real woman, and your relationship with her develops, unlike Liara who immediately falls in love with you.

ME2: Miranda/Tali

Kind've a tie between the two. They're both well written, so it just comes down to who you're more attracted to. For me it was Miranda, but I can't ignore Tali's popularity in ME2.

ME3: Liara
Even though Bioware unfairly played favorites with Liara, she still has the most fleshed out romance in the game. No she's not a stalker, please look up that word before you call her that. But she definitely was forced.

EDIT: Mdoggy posted before I finished mine, I basically agree with his choices. I stick with Ashley in my playthroughs but I'd imagine most players would be pretty frustrated with how that progresses for a lot of the series.

Ashley's my favorite LI but she's not written all that well post-ME1 until near the end of ME3. I don't mind her suspicions about Cerberus (since she basically thinks Cerberus may have programmed Shepard as a sleeper agent and doesn't really blame *you* per se, and she drops it on Mars if you're nice, which seems like a fairly realistic reaction. Overall, though, ME2 was awful (duh) and outside of the hospital scenes (which are okay), she doesn't get much to do as a LI until pretty late in ME3 - I do like her goodbye/EC scenes though.

People have mentioned that the writer who worked on her in ME1 left after that game - if true, I guess that explains a lot.

Of the three top choices you listed I'd probably go with Miranda - Tali gave me the little sister feeling in ME1 too, and Liara's always left me a bit cold as a LI for various reasons. Either way, as someone else posted, it's really just up to the player to decide what they want in their playthrough since some LIs are much better for some stuff than others (and non-Liara, and to a lesser extent Tali, LIs gets much less attention).

Miranda, of course.

Liara and Tali are too childish, especially the latter. Jack is a mess of a person, and Ashley is just too common.

Liara for me. I like her character the best, plus Shepard can actually reproduce with her, unlike with Miranda and Tali, not that it matters in the end anyway.

She also gets the most "relationship" time:

Liara - All of ME1, LOTSB in ME2, and all of ME3
Miranda - All of ME2 and parts of ME3
Tali - Half of ME2 and half of ME3 (since Rannoch and Haestrom are both somewhat late in the game)

I would say either Miranda or Liara. Both are good options. Although, I wish Miranda got a bit more attention in ME3, she was in charge of the Lazarus Project that brought Shepard back after all.

I did. It was that or no romance run. Still had to remind myself there was a 3 year timeskip between I met her and slept with her. Her apparent naivete didn´t help either, they went too far with those jokes, while at other moments she´s quite insightful. She seemed to have a mild personality disorder. Anyway Hawke is around 24-25 in Act 1, that would make him/her 27-28 in Act 2. Shepard would be 30 in ME2 and go for a girl of a species that matures slower than humans.

About asari, I think Morinth scaped when she was in her 40s I think. Still weird other asari wouldn't take Liara seriously after years&decades of investigation.

That's because Tali's progress as someone who falls in love with Shepard was the best written.

She tells you herself, from infatuation because you saved her, to watching you and how you treated other people (Paragon ; don't know what she says to renegade Shepard as my Renegade is pro-human) including her and making her feel welcomed as a person, not treating her like a pariah.

There are other bits and pieces, Haelstrom, with her recordings, thinking of Shepard, and of course voice acting. Liz Sroka does does a very emotional Tali which makes the character, a character without a face, all the more loveable because you can feel the person inside.

Now flip this around, switch VOs between Tali and Liara, and all bets are off.
If Liz Sroka can charm us without facial emotional cues, imagine what she could have done with Liara, or *Tali with a face*
