If they went the route of a checklist, saying "Did you do this? Did you do that?" it would be much better than trying to manage individual saves. Less chance of bugs, less chance of corrupted files, less feeling like you have to replay a previous game in order to see different world states, less all kinds of silly things. Not to mention you wouldn't have to worry about a player going from a PC to a console, or a console player moving to next-gen, or any other number of changes. People would not be married to the system they played the last game on, nor would they be bound by an actual playthrough they did to see the variations that could come with prior game choices.

Its the best of all worlds.

Since the initial install base on the next gen consoles will be much smaller than current gen I believe that most publishers will launch their AAA titles on both current and next gun systems.

There are two choices here. Either continue designing games for 8-year old relic consoles so that no one ever has to upgrade hardware, or progress into modern times.

"Well then I have to buy a new console," could always be said. People could say it in Dec 2013, or Dec 2015. What's the difference? At some point everyone will have to get one if they want to continue playing current games. The same thing happened when the last batch came out.

Considering the exponential performance increase between ancient-gen and current-gen, and considering the release window of DA3, it is my opinion that it would be an absolute waste NOT design the game for current-gen hardware. A total waste of potential.

It would be like making a game for the Atari 2600 when everyone knew that the NES was coming out. It would defy logic.

Since you're a pc player, that's a pretty heartless thing to say. Even tho I'm just waiting for the new xbox to hit the shelves, I feel for the people who won't be able to immediately shove out near one thousand dollars (Console/accessories/possible hard drive) and get the game at the same time or neither.I can see the benefit of it being on next gen with less memory restrictions but I hope it's on both current and next gen so no one is left out.

I think it's pretty heartless that we pc gamers have been waiting for "next-gen" to come out for about 5 years now so we at least use a 3rd of the power our pc has..... Yep still waiting.
