I know we never really agree on anything, but I like you. So here..

ME3 didn't need a boss fight, but the fact that they used "it's too videogamey" as an excuse is ridiculous. Just look at the Rannoch reaper battle. Pretty much exact what they said they wanted to avoid.
Exactly THIS. It made me furious just how pretentious that line was. IT'S A VIDEOGAME! What's more "videogamey" than a videogame? I honstly wish I were in the same room as Casey Hudson when he said that.
A final boss in a videogame is not intrinsical for the game's ending to be satisfactory, but if it doesn't have one, the ending itself has to be very well-written and executed. The ending we got, both th original and the Extended Cut, sadly, were not.

Fighting his way through, EDI eventually gets a hold of him telling him how to shut down and sabotage Harbinger. With each component Harbinger becomes less capable in the space battle which it rejoins and starts taking on visible damage.
That's all I got going in my head but I thought it would be a neat idea if that's how the "boss fight" went.

I suspect that in DA3 we will get a horrible and tacked on boss fight at the end that shouldn't be there at all due to fan complaints on these forums.
And it will be complained about, mocked, and referenced with just as much gusto as the too videogamey line.
Also when you bring up that fans demanded more boss fights, you'll get shouted with tons of post from fans who are like "I didn't specifically request this, you shouldn't generalize, blah blah blah" and than immediately generalize you, your views, and bioware.
Because internet.
I think Dragon Age is an appropriate game to have a boss fight

i like to see the draft in my profile realised. It has just the amount of decision/consequences ratio as it has a balanced gameplay/cutscene relationship, i was hoping for on my first playthrough. Its also the reason why my first playthrough was my most enjoyable one.

This draft really adds very little. It doesn't fix any issues, it just avoids them entirely. The only real changes I see are the fleets being beefed up, Synthesis and the Catalyst being removed along with any explanation for the Reapers, a possible fight with the Illusive Man, and Shepard and Anderson surviving.
None of that really deals with the issues. It's just a quick fix. Making the fleets a lot stronger and whatnot.

Whats more facepalmy is that after that statement he goes on to say that they didn't want to have us fight some big tenticled creature that would come out of nowhere to be the boss of the game.
*looks at Harbinger appearing out of nowhere for the beam run*.

Indeed. God forbid that the leader of the main enemy of the trilogy gets any attention in the last chapter.

This draft makes your decisions matter. Its one if not thebiggest issue. The fleets need to be strong if they plan on engaging the reapers in the first place. Lol you can add any explanation, even dark energy, and removing catalyst and synthesis is what this board is asking for since march. you really live behind the moon, dont you?David7204 wrote...

While not Liamv2 I'm someone who started playing computer games in the 80's with the Commodore 64. I have probably tried thousand games, wasted hours to hundreds and went through hundreds as well. I have beat some end bosses during these years.
I have played some console games as well and really, gotta say I don't see how bullet sponges like mid and end bosses from FF VII or FF VIII made ME3 any better. Different elements work for different types of games better and I gotta say I'm glad you weren't designing boss fights for ME3 because your understanding about what works and where ****ing sucks.

That might be...
But seriously, boss fights originate from old arcade machines (that I also played back in the day). The general idea was not so much to offer climax to player but make certain sequences so difficult that player needed keep feeding coins into machine. Difficult to see how that have much place in settings like ME universe.

"Oh no! The white divines turned into a 5 headed dragon that breaths anti-magic and needs to be killed with quicktime events."
Why? Because boss fights.
Same reason orsino needed to turn into a flesh golem or meredith had to get super powers and bring statues to life. We couldn't have a showdown with words and make them stand down, we had to have boss fights at the end of the game. And not even 1 boss fight either, we needed 2, because you dawg, I heard ya like boss fights so we put a boss fight after your boss fight so you can boss fight and than boss fight.

But in all fairness, I can agree with it to an extent. We dealt with The Illusive Man in a way that suited him; it would've been silly if he had gone the Resident Evil route and transformed into a giant monster for no reason other then to have a boss fight.
But a boss fight can be more creative then "just shoot it until it falls down". They could've dealt with Harbinger, or any Reaper for that matter, in any way other then just running around pushing buttons.
But what really boggles my mind is that the game, before EC at least, would give you a game over screen if you waited too long before you made up your decision at the Catalyst. Boss fights are too video gamey but a standard "Game Over!" screen is apparently fully acceptable. Idiotic.
