The "shock" value of the relationships has calmed, time to ramp it up again?

I remember the outrage of the first same sex relationship in a bioware game and the free publicity and attention it gained Bioware.

From both a roleplaying and publicity perspective other types of relationships would make sense. I'm a complete jerk evil blood mage murdering psycho and yet im dating a damaged emo elf with tenderness and care?

Now what much mocked book series has opened up other types of relationships into the mainstream?

I don't think Bioware is looking for that kind of publicity.

I recall little to no reaction to the same-sex romance in Jade Empire.

Such as?

Are you talking about Twilight? 50 Shades of Grey?

So you're referring to Twilight and suggesting necrophilia I take it?

Erm from what I gather, I don't think the op is suggesting relationships that are considered morally okay or legal across 5 nations for that matter.

They're related so the OP could be talking about both.

Sad Fact of the Day!

50 Shades of Grey was originally a Twilight fanfiction.

If bioware ever does bdsm I just hope they don't base it on a 50 shades of grey type relationship i've heard that it was more like rape than bdsm.

Are you talking about incest, a-la a song of Ice and Fire?

I don't see why not as everyone at Bioware seems to have a stiffy for R. R. Martin.

I however do not and do not appreciate your comparison of homosexuality with incest, not at all

EDIT: Correction, I meant rather that I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware added it in. It would still be hella creepy

I don't think he meant ice&fire series he said much mocked which sounds more like 50 shades series and its 'bdsm' relationship.

^ @ophir Bioware has already stated they would never peddle that kind of dementia in dragon age. Any wannabe bethany romancer can attest to that.

I like to think that s/s content wasn't added simply because of shock value.

I've done my fair share of mocking that series

I guess it's too dark and edgy for a stuck-up prude like myself

Indeed. I like to think it had to do with good sense.

Coffee mod Dragon Age style, anyone? With all the flack video games are getting at the moment, Bioware probably doesn't want to get that kind of attention. Heck, we've got video game burnings going on right now.

I'm sure David Gaider wrote same-sex relationship because it would shock the fans not because he simply believes in fairness. <_< DA could have taken the ME route and appeals only to straight male audience but they didn't, and it has nothing to do with shock values.

I personally do not think the lack of s/s romances would deter gay people from actually playing the game. Romances are still just an (albeit important) side theme in bioware games after all. They're not the main attraction. If I were gay I wouldn't like ME1 or 2 any less than I do now for example. I probably have to be careful with the next statement but I think it's more that the USA is their biggest and most important market and they don't seem as open minded to gay relationships as some countries in Europe yet. Controversy offers free publicity but as we saw with ME3's ending, it can and most likely will also have negative consequences.

I feel that heterosexual people shouldn't make assumptions on what homosexual people would think about such matters.

On that "feeling" men shouldnt assume anything to do with womans rights or white men shouldnt concern
themselfs with black rights or assume anything to be wrong in either case  but hey im assuming you know that an i "feel" that you dont make assumptions on such matters
