Oddly, I find myself not caring or being bothered by that pic.
Mainly because I don't pick synthesis. But a small amount as well to all the "It's not what's on the outside, but the inside that counts" crap the 90's and 2000's put out in their damned childrens shows.

They didn't even promise that. The whole 16 endings thing seems to have come from a bit in the strategy guide which lays out the 16 different decision and EMS combinations that determine what ending you'll get. And of course, that was simply true. It's the fans, helped by a misleading IGN headline (the IGN article itself was also simply true), who somehow convinced themselves that there would be 16 endings.
If Bioware did anything wrong there it's that they failed to crush the 16 endings meme after it escaped confinement.
16 endings, 6 endings, 1 ending..
You just had to turn on colorblind mode, to finally realise that bw struggled to distinguish even the existing endings.
If you watched them without the catalyst context it came to one ending with 3+ little variations.
Hence this stupid meme is oversimplified, but was exactly to the point.

After the EC, most of the issues were cleared up but people still were acting pedantic and nitpicky because THEIR ending didn't happen. Basically there's a subset of people on BSN ( You can tell who they are b/c they always respond in every thread with Space Magic/Plothole/Because....reasons/etc. ) who were butthurt that their Shep didn't survive and have a reunion with his squad, marry his LI and grow old.
Those same disgruntled fans practice a scorched earth policy. They troll the forums, making up plotholes by using a sort of anti-occams-razor logic where they headcanon plotholes and inconsistency, even if it's the least likely or logical scenario possible. When they present what they THINK is a plothole, and you explain in thorough detail how it isn't, they just ignore your explanation and make the same thread a few days later.
The ending isn't perfect and sadly, it didn't live up to its immense potential but most of what you see here is just nerdy fanboy rage. The same type of people you'd see slapfight over which StarTrek captain was better.

However some things still don't make any sense. Why would the starchild even allow Destroy? It ruins everything it has tried to accomplish.
I hate synthesis, it does not make any sense and I view it as one big galaxy wide violation against all organic life.
Control just feels like a very risky option. Shepard becomes some all powerful reaper master mind. You know what they say about power and corruption right?
