I bought the Mass Effect trilogy before christmas as it was on sale and I wanted a digital copies of the games (I went through a phase of replaying the entire trilogy but had to put that plan on hold for about a year when I realised I'd misplaced my ME1, turned out I'd leant it to my brother and it was over his house collecting dust) and I was genuinely impressed how pretty ME3 was and how well it ran on my PC which I built about 5 years ago.
I immediately understood why people were complaining about the keyboard/binding setup, which is funny as it feels perfectly fine having all the significant actions under one button when on console, but just feels completely wrong on PC.
My MP experience is fairly limited; joined a bronze PUG, was immediately kicked for being N7 1, then shortly after my microphone packed in so I haven't been back and to be honest the prospect of having to rebuild my manifest is quite daunting, especially as I've yet to get anywhere near to a decent one on the 360. I won't form any opinion of the community from that limited experience, though.
I intend to go back to it at some point, probably when I sort out a new microphone, but it will be my first proper launch back into PC gaming for 13 years (I was addicted to Quake when it came out, but packed in PC gaming around 2000 and switched to an xbox when I went to uni as I found it far too hard and costly to keep my PC up to spec, also as I had no internet access outside of the uni's computer block). Community-wise I know what to expect, though; consoles are much more accessible so you really have to expect to bump in to all sorts, PCs require a few more hoops to jump through to get up and running which indicates a slightly more specific community.
Scary to think the last time I played a PC game over the internet I was using a 28.8k modem.
