Hi there,
I guess most of you know the issuse with custom armors getting distorted once the camera is far away from the models so that the LOD2 and LOD3 models (should) kick in since most custom armours lack LOD Files.
Now, there is a funny way to get around that problem. Say you just loaded a new map and you see armor distortion. All you need to do is to TALK to another character (Say your main character wears custom armor, just talk to one of your party members and end the conversation). After that the distortion will not occur for the rest of the map/session.
Now that's quite funny actually, since that means that the game _forces_ the models to be displayed at max LOD from that point on and I find myself wondering if a more permanent solution is possible.
As far as I know, the game will try to display any given set of armor _without_ LOD files with maximum detail everywhere regardless of the distance to the camera. Now I am not entirely sure, but I think the distortion happens because the game tries to use the maximum LOD of the armor/item model in conjunction with the character model which unlike the armor has LOD files. Thus, max LOD armor plus Low LOD model = Distortion.
Now my question is: Is it possible to fix this entire issue by simply preventing the game from loading the 2,3 LOD_character_ files? Essentially doing the same as with the armor, due to lack of LOW lod it will load the max LOD and no distortion appears.
Now I am quite the noob when it comes to modding DA, just got the game a couple of days ago but that problem kept me thinking cause I love fancy custom armor and I hate the distortion. Any suggestions?
