Serious though, I wish Duncan stays dead. It would take away a lot of impact from his death if stays alive.

Good, that mongrel is still alive. I eagerly await the opportuniy to stab him in the eye and shout "So now you know what Jory felt like!"
Damn. Will this be presented in a cutscene or a murder knife?

Throwing of the murder knife whilst walking towards him, he won't expect that.

I'll take either one. Unfortunately, I doubt the game will allow me to kill Duncan in the exact manner that I'd prefer, if I'm allowed to kill him at all.
What manner would I prefer, you ask? I'll rip out his fingernails and use them to gouge off his big toe(s) and then I'll slice open his bicep muscles and finally smack him in the face with my shield until his skull cracks open and the soft smushing noises of blunt objects impacting brain fill my ears. And then I'll split his sternum feed his heart to Dog just to be sure.
Ah, imagination coupled with two years working in an army hospital are wonderful things.

Yes. This is true.

i can imagine finding some traces of him that imply that he is alive but taken somewhere.
maybe we get to see more of him in the expansion? maybe the architect uses him as bait to lure you to him, sortof like in "the calling".

TeleProd....You know we never actually 'saw' him die...just supposition and assumption.
Yes, I am aware. I guess I should've said I hope he really died.

that kind of implausible use of "probably" sounds terrible

Duncan didn't have a mustache nearly long enough to twirl, so the evil twin idea is completely bonkers!

They would have to rewrite a lot of the dialogue with Alistair. For example, the party dialogue between Shale and Alistair where Alistair says that he wouldn't mind following Duncan's orders now.
Also, how would they handle the portion of the fade where you talk to Duncan and one of the options is to say something like "Aren't you supposed to be dead?"

I'm glad he can't be a broodmother... but what about a beardfather? o_o
I still hope he's alive and, uh, in human form u_u

First off I'll get it out there that this may entirely be me pulling at straws and drawing my own conclusions from a tiny sentence fragment. I was reading the new interview from IGN with Bioware's Fernando Melo. It's a good read for information on Awakenings and RtO.
http://pc.ign.com/ar.../1058656p1.html
This is what stuck out to me in the second to the last question:
Fernando Melo: The real win for Return to Ostagar will come from
some of the replayability. All of the party members will react
differently.... We
also kind of hinted at it in the trailer -- you do run into the actual
ogre that killed the king and potentially killed your mentor as well....
Granted I'm the type of person who believes Duncan isn't dead. I read comic books, so if I don't see the body of a main character I have trouble accepting it.But the wording in this did seem to support the idea that Duncan somehow survived. He has been captured by Darkspawn before [however that darkspawn was the Architect]. If Duncan was dead, why not just say so instead of the 'potentially' part.
That and the white out makes me think we may see him again in Awakenings, given his history with the Architect. I may be wrong but still, this is was interesting. Anyone else think that or notice this themselves?
Oh my... same thing I was thinking yesterday at evening! xD I wanted to make topic about it but then Maker sent you
I was thinking aswell; If Duncan will be alive, it can be the great key to get the most satisfy ending for your origins!! I mean he would tell you if you kill Archdemon that you die then he recommends you to recruit Loghain so he can redeem himself for what he have done that night (vengeance is just not Grey Warden job) because Duncan thinks that you and Alistair shouldn't die yet and that world will need more of you and then Alistair wouldn't run away and cry anymore because we didn't kill Loghain and revenge Duncan at Landsmeet...
but somehow....

If anything I'd think that he'd make an appearance in Awakenings, or maybe an expansion or big dlc after that. Just because of the fact he's one of the few persons around that's tangled with the Architect before. It'd be awesome if there was some way Bioware made him implemented into the main campaign in Origins, but I doubt they'd do that. Origins is all about the PC and Alistair struggling without any wise mentor.
Still would love to see something more with Duncan soon though
