Hmm. now if your not getting under 25 minutes in public games you "start" with people using proper equipment, perhaps you should stop "challenging yourself" and start "improving yourself." The whole reason I don't play with those who don't use equipment is gametime. As long as everyone is "equipped" gametime averages out to ~20 minutes, even in pugs.

if you can't understand what FUN means...then i feel sorry for you..and plz before asking me to start improving myself, why don't you go ahead and try to play with no gear..maybe then you will see who needs to imporve himself :P

but never mind..i just saw your signature...

I let L1s stay as long as they have on good equipment (guns, etc). I'm more concerned bout people that dont put on gear at all. Those I kick always on Gold+.

When you're in a lobby and it's a PUG, it's really hard to say. Sure, if you join as a lvl 1, you MIGHT be good enough to contribute. But I'd say 90% of the time I see someone with a lower leveled character, they end up in last place, and in many cases they are far and away in last place. Granted, you take things into consideration, what gear they have, what mods they've equipped, what ranks they have which can at least somewhat be correlated with experience, etc.

It's just people going with "better to be safe than sorry" when they boot someone. I don't want to waste my consumables / weapon mods / etc just because somebody was overreaching by going into Gold.

THAT is stupid

N7 rank is meaningless. I have 180 N7 rank because I never promoted. But I also have 6000+ challenge points so clearly I have played a lot and therefore probably know how to play.

I agree with kicking level 1's and people who refuse to use equipment but kicking for N7 rating is absolutely retarded.

Nah you should kick them too. Think of it like risk vs reward. A guy with no equipment on is taking 0 risk. making 0 investment. So why should I invest in them? Much better to kick them and wait for someone willing to at least use a permenant gear item :wizard:

Gotta love it when people don't even use the permanent gear bonus.

Infuriating. I wish that all those idiots who refuse to use their gear LOSE their gear. Give it to me, I will ****ing use it.

+1

Challenge points are a far better metric. Not everybody promotes. A high N7 probably means it's a good player, a low N7 tells you nothing.

Sometimes I let them stay for the lulz or if I can't be arsed to find a different lobby. Just now I played a game with a level 12 soldier (N7 rank of 79, 25 challenge points; but he did have a Harrier I). Yeah, he turned out to be crap, but at least we gave it a try.

Unfortunately, there was a level 20 demolisher (N7 around 500, can't recall challenge point) on the team who was just as much crap as the new dude, which made the mission a bit more challenging than I was really expecting.

Fortunately, I (level 16 asari vanguard) and the host (level 20 krogan soldier) were able to carry the team to victory. I'd say "hopefully those two learned their lesson", but I'm not that much of an optimist. Image IPB

Re. the LAZY comment.

While I can see why people think it's lazy to take your lvl1 into a Gold match vs a Silver to start with, after all it's not that much extra time, the reason why I would rather start in Gold isn't so much for those extra promotional points, but rather that I find Silver (and especially bronze) matches too easy.

Had this happen last night. The guy died (executed) during each of the first three rounds and then rage quit. I probably should have kicked but I thought I was being nice.

This is exactly why I've stopped playing silver. I now play plat almost exclusively for the creds, dropping to gold to level up. Even early gold can be a bit slow and tedious.

Yep, that's the biggest problem. If you have 3 decent players, you should be able to get by with one leecher. But taking on somebody with bad gear or who's a low level, is almost a guaranteed bad player. And then you're still rolling the dice on the other two (though with better odds). So if one of them also turns out to be a dud, you're kinda screwed.

I'm fairly new to Gold. I can definitely hold my own, I'm typically 2nd for points, sometimes 1st. But by no means can I carry a team to extraction. And I don't wanna be wasting my medi-gels, rockets, etc, on a team that has 1-2 people who really shouldn't be on there.

That's why I haven't started trying Platinum yet, because I think it'd be unfair of me to expect other people to carry me and for me to be a burden (though obviously at some point I'll have to try and make the jump and see if and how far behind the curve I am for that level).

I haven't read the entire thread but:

Yes unless you are with your friends. Some people can run lvl 1 characters in Gold without an issue and be badass- not many and if you're in a PUG I have to discern your ability based on what I see since I don't know you.

Actually the guy is right. FUN as you say it means something different for everyone. For me playing with noobs, who can't play this game is not fun. Also, the definition of a noob is a person, who is not able to beat gold with a team under 20 minutes. Mostly because i beat platinium in about 20 minutes.

So for me, fun is about good skills, and unpacking things. And from my perspective, and my experience whenever there are good players every game is beneath 20 minutes.
When there are noobs in my team the game is muuuch longer.

So yes, if you are doing it in more time then 20 minutes, it means you just don't have the skills. Besides, if you are challenging yourself in public games and then says stuff about having fun, means you are egoistic, egocentric *** who thinks only of himself. Did you ever asked other guys, if that is ok with them? And what did you do, if they said no? Did you change then to lvl 20 or did you just leave or start spouting **** about them not allowing you to get some fun?
Cause, my not dear, not friend, having fun at the cost of somebody else is something you should be ashamed of, not something you demand.

obviously you dont play for fun..you just play for credits or whatever..and i m not the one who should be ashamed..its you for kicking lvl 20 people with no gear without even knowing whether they can play as good as you or not...and that is egoistic and rude imho..besides from your statement you're already saying that you kick noobs no matter with/without gear..something i never do coz we all started as noobs :P

I made my piont here...i will write it again:
for gold:
lvl 1 with max gear : OK
lvl 1 with no gear : NO
lvl 20 with no gear : OK
lvl 20 with max gear: OK

peace everyone :innocent:

I look at a variety of things before I decide to kick - N7 level, challenge points, character level, weapon levels, gear... if all are unsatisfactory, you get my [x].

That said, a Lvl 1 character in gold would only be fine with me if they have high everything else.

For example, this is unacceptable lol (sry for bad quality, when I do PrtScr it doesn't work for some reason):

If you have the proper weapons and you use consumables. I would welcome you. Too many times I have tried to play with people with the right characters, loadout and consumables at level 20 and they didn't get any points as they should. I wonder how that is possible if they shoot at enemies.

I have done the same trick as you and never end up in the bottom in score. It can be hard to get into a game so I ended up starting games alone and let people join me. I would love to see their reactions when we entered the score screen. Sometimes it was too much work so I started to wait until a char card got me up on level 8 or I took one Silver before gold.

Please end up in my games. Too many bad level 20 pugs get into my lobbies. ;)

Oh, so its guys like you I can "thank" for the miserable matches I get tossed into.   I wondered why there was only one person in the match that I got dumped into.   You are free to do as you like but its quite horrible, imo

(1) The person joining a game will likely get mobbed  by enemies before they even have control of their character ( have been grabbed by a banshee before I could even see my character before )
(2) This is why people either don't put on consumables when searching for games, or put on low level stuff.

I honestly did not know that there were people that would do what you are proposing regularly.   I have always put on my best equipment ( level 3 and 4 ) when searching for matches because I figured that if I got dumped into a match it was because the guy I was replacing had bad lag, or ragequit.   In that way I would be able to help out the team at my normal strength.

But based on this comment ( and others in this thread ) I am going to stop putting on my best stuff when searching for matches.    This was a real eye-opener for me:?

Well I have never done it in a reaper game. All games I have done it with have extracted within 30 minutes. I am also sacrificing consumables. But it is fine if you find it an issue. I rarely take on consumables before joining game for the same reason.

If there is one person in the game. Then he is usually pretty good. I have before tried to get bashed by some dude because he ended up in my game and died right away. He didn't give me time to revive him. That extraction took 22 minutes. Oh and i was level 20. I just didn't want to waste time waiting in my lobby.

So in short; I am not one of those guys you are talking about wasting your consumables.

Ok, but I guess that there are some people who will do that to avoid the lobby.   One problem is that a lot of people don't like joining on-going matches because of bad experiences.  I have had my share of those where you burn medigel and rockets when you are swarmed in the LZ only to realize that everyone else has given up.

me and 1 friend had a gold lobby open late oe night and waited like 3 mins for someone to join. 1 guy joins. level N7 of 700 something with a good layout (i cna't remeber what) then another guy level N7 of 1 with a human soldier (level 1 obviously) an avenger 1 and mantis 1. clearly his 1st game. so we go ahead and play it anyway for the lolz (lets face it you don't need 4 good players to beat a gold people) anyway long story short we found out the 700+ guy was terrible. he got outscored by the level 1 player both were under like 30K

some poepl are too kick happy , and the only reason i can think of is immaturity, or no confidence in their skill
