I'm not a great player. So if its a Gold PUG and a lvl1 turns up, I'll prob leave the lobby, not worth the risk. I find gold hard enough as it is.

If its silver, its absolutely fine (if you have decent weapons anyway).

Yes.

And seriously people, stop going on about 'good players' and 'bad players.' The only time it's not bad form is if you're with a group of friends.

I agree it's disrespectful. Especially if we play one match and they switch to a lvl 1 for easy leveling (provided they're bad). However, I never kick people before playing with them and determining they are acting like a douchebag (usually this means not helping the team in any way, insisting on camping when it doesn't work, not reviving people even if they're bleeding out right next to them, and rarest, but most annoying, being rude to other randoms over the mic).
I have no reason to believe a lvl 20 will perform better than a lvl 1 in a PUG game, so I find kicking pointless.

I've never kicked a 1v1 on gold but I usually will not revive them if they wander off and away from the team.

The people that play 1lvl's on gold PUGs could unintentionally start a trend similar to "no equipment and consumables on gold PUGs, please carry me".

I don't use consumables a ton on "gold" on plat always but gold I might not bring any NOT to be a drag.. or be "carried" but cause I know how to handle it from doing it so often B)

I know, I've played with few really good people without equipment on gold but unfortunately it became more popular among lazy/less skillful players nowadays. Similar thing could happen with 1lvl's on gold.

I agree with the majority opinion here that it’s a little rude if it’s just a random lobby. I definitely understand that lv 1s can make it in this game, if you’re good enough (especially if you have high enough level gear), but when I see level 1s, I don’t expect them to be good (unless they have high N7/Challenge points), and the fact of the matter is, if you’re not a really good player with good gear, a level 1 is severely gimped, to the point that success even on Silver shouldn’t be assumed.

If you’re playing with people you know, then it’s a different story.

depends. nothing wrong with it if you can hold your own. plus throw on a level X harrier AR amp 3, warp rounds 4, and cyclonic 4 and some armored compartments and your level 1 will be the highest damage output in the game with more shields then their level 20s.

all depends on your skill and consumables used, but there is nothing wrong with doing so

Depending on how familiar someone is with a class they can sue it level 1 on platinum. Depends on if you're good enough to know when to pull back and have a high enough situation awareness for it. Level means nothing.

seriously?

i consider equipment part of my build.  i might not be always able to bring 3s and 4s into gold but i always atleast put a lv 1 on.  so i figured hey maybe Valor is broke and doesnt have much in the way of consumables.  but your manifest says you have over 30 of all the 3s and 4s some cases over 100.

So why not use the consumables on gold?  they are there, they do you no good sitting in your equiptment depot.  I know you say you know how to handle yourself without them, but still I do not see why you wouldnt use your huge surplus.

I no judge people unless is a very very stupid set up.. and that is post-match since I like to host my games and wait people to join mid-game.

Really?
A lvl 1 Destroyer with the setup you mentioned compared to a lvl 20 Destroyer with Harrier IV, AP rounds II, AR Amp II, Cyclonic II.

I'd take the lvl 20.

It to me, depends on the gear and weapons as well as class. I would kick or leave if they are carring common or uncommon weapons and no equipment. If they have rare or ultra rare weapons and level 3/4 equipment, I don't care. I've seen so many bad players with high level characters, that it comes down to equipment over anything else in PUG games. Titles and N7 rank can also be way to decide.
I do play games as a level 1 character and usually come out in 2nd or 1st. I will only do it with classes that I know can hold their own, like Turians, Krogan, infiltrators, and Batarians. I would not do it on classes that are extremly squishy. There are some exceptions and I will compensate by applying the right gear.

How can know he's got skill before playing?

That's where chance comes in.

And I'm a betting man.

Same.

A level 1 character with level 4 consumables and a good loadout inspires way more confidence in me than a level 20 with no consumables equipped.

Agreed. This is the kind of good thinking we could always have more of.

For the record: I've promoted more than 450 times and always level up my characters in Gold and it is extremely rare to end up last in the scoreboard.

Load outs and equiment levels should be a good clue for the wise.

In my experience, two outcomes are likely after a match:
I get friend requests after the match (reached the silly limit of 100 during the last summer) or the doubters I carried simply ragequit or leave right after the scoreboard appears.

Those that send friend requests or don't ragequit are the good players worth praising.  All others still have much to learn.

I was too, I was letting under-leveled, under-equiped, under-geared players stay and play, but then I had to work and carry EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Never again.

I don't vote to kick L1s from gold lobby IF:
1) They have rare weapon x or UR weapon V+ plus gear level 4+
2) They use 2+ level 3+ power-ups
3) The team feels relatively strong in general, thus able to carry the guy if he does not do too good.

I do not think so if you can handle it. A friend and I played a platinum match with 2 level 1 characters with 2 other friends and we scored over 100k points each.

I won't kick a level 1 in gold unless they don't have any EQ. I play level 1 guys all the time on gold and come out on the top of the score most of time(max manifest probably helps with that). Of course, I always use EQ because I have plenty and it makes each match quicker.

This and weapon levels.  If I see low level weapons, chances are the player is still relatively new, so no on that.  I too have played Gold as lvl1 and come out on top, but will usually do silver first to level up to at least 10 before doing gold.

there's nothing wrong with bringing a lvl 1 on gold or even plat for that matter
but most people will kick

i personally don't kick, a random lvl 1 or a random lvl 20 probably won't change much of anything to what i can expect of him

It would all depend on your N7 number and your gear and weapons. A level II weapon of any kind is not good enough. (And yes N7 does have a meaning despite the hollars or protest.)
