How can know he's got skill before playing?

That's where chance comes in.

And I'm a betting man.

I was too, I was letting under-leveled, under-equiped, under-geared players stay and play, but then I had to work and carry EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Never again.

Seems like you've been having some ****ty luck there my paranoid techno cyborg robot ninja zombie born in the boonies ice skating hulahooping cookie eating computer using little friend.

I actually met a good beginner on gold just another day grantede was using the BW but they were keeping up with the pace quite well.

For me though, if I see a level 1 with max ultra rares (or high level ones), I just see it as someone who wants to level up fast, so whatevz. If I see a level 1 that's clearly a newbie, I see it as a challenge to carry them.

Exactly.

It brings some spice to the game.

Play however you like. You and the others all have freedom of association.

It doesn't hurt that your lvl 1 scores as high as my lvl 20

How's the deal so far? I, for one, have placed quite a number of bets on randoms that turned out pretty bad (or maybe I'm just bad at betting <_<)

depends. nothing wrong with it if you can hold your own. plus throw on a level X harrier AR amp 3, warp rounds 4, and cyclonic 4 and some armored compartments and your level 1 will be the highest damage output in the game with more shields then their level 20s.

all depends on your skill and consumables used, but there is nothing wrong with doing so

Really?
A lvl 1 Destroyer with the setup you mentioned compared to a lvl 20 Destroyer with Harrier IV, AP rounds II, AR Amp II, Cyclonic II.

I'd take the lvl 20.

Level 20 with said gear
http://narida.pytalh...saultRifleAmp5/
Health: 850
Shields: 2250
Weapon Damage: 185.2

Level 1 with max gear
http://narida.pytalh...saultRifleAmp5/
Health: 500
Shields: 2500
Weapon Damage: 187.78

Difference is in powers not the basic stuff

That said, if someone is doing level 1s in gold (and are capable of doing so, not just tryingto leech), they should host or else once lag hits it ends up being very bad

Hey, I've played with you before. You were our random, and you were very good. :)

Hehe, thanks, I remember the games with you and Sekrev too. I always remember fondly those times I meet great players on pugs. :wizard:

the level 1 would have a damage per clip of 2255.45 and 2500 shields
The level 20 would have a damager per clip of 1773.70 (including the weapon damage passive) and 2250 shields.

The only thing i didn't calculate is dev mode due to the ROF or Mag upgrade evo.

Still as you can see the level 1 can still put out as much if not more damage then the level 20 cause of the higher amps and has more shields. Again it comes down to skill. a level 1 is viable in gold easily and can top a scoreboard

I would allow it if I knew the player was solid. If he's holding maxed UR weapons and top notch consumables, and playing a weapons class (for the most part) I would probably go for it.

What's the consenus of the BSN community, is it bad form to choose a lvl 1 character for Gold? Personnally I'd rather play with a pug using a lvl 1 character and maxed geared along with a UR weapon, than a lvl 20 character and no gear (which is all too typical, *the no gear part*)?

In general, yes. No one is obligated to trust that you can hold your own in a Gold match with a level 1 because no matter how good you are, the fact is, a level 1 character is much weaker and less able to contribute in a game.

Doesn't mean it's impossible to complete a Gold match and help with such a low character, but the players who can do so are in the minority. Don't be surprised when random players unfamiliar with your play style want to kick you. I would too, even though I have spent some time leveling up low characters on Gold for the promotion banner.

If you have an N7 ranking of 1, then yes. If you have great gear, a good N7, and setup that makes sense, you probably know what you are doing and can be productive. So no, I rarely kick lvl 1 in Gold unless the N7 is 1.

I promoted a few characters the other day, for no real reason and I figured I'd choose a Gold match, even if my character (a Demolisher) was lvl 1. I put on the top gear I had lying around (III and IV), and my Black Window II along with a Hurricane VI.

So being fully geared up I joined into a pug gold lobby, only to have one of the guys freak out. I thought that maye it was bad form to take a lvl 1 charcter into a Gold lobby, but at the same time having good weapons and gear on should show that I'm serious about extracting, and have played before. Anyways I left, joined a Silver match and topped out in points by a good distance, leaving me to think that maybe I should've just looked for a different group or told the guy that I can pretty much guarentee that by the end of the game I won't be last in points.

I have no problem with level ones long as you've proven you can handle yourself. I probably would be a little tentative if the first character you used was a level one though.

With Devastator Mode ON lvl 20 deals more dmg overall and properly specced has faster shield regen than lvl 1. For me lvl 20 is offering slightly more.

It depends how well you play. Unless you re a power class, its not too bad as long as you can carry your weight.

I'd be more concered with your challange raiting and manifest, then your level.

I rarely votekick - it would come down to: Leave, just hit ready if everyone else does or unequip all consumables and give it a shot.

The people that play 1lvl's on gold PUGs could unintentionally start a trend similar to "no equipment and consumables on gold PUGs, please carry me".

I don't use consumables a ton on "gold" on plat always but gold I might not bring any NOT to be a drag.. or be "carried" but cause I know how to handle it from doing it so often B)

seriously?

i consider equipment part of my build.  i might not be always able to bring 3s and 4s into gold but i always atleast put a lv 1 on.  so i figured hey maybe Valor is broke and doesnt have much in the way of consumables.  but your manifest says you have over 30 of all the 3s and 4s some cases over 100.

So why not use the consumables on gold?  they are there, they do you no good sitting in your equiptment depot.  I know you say you know how to handle yourself without them, but still I do not see why you wouldnt use your huge surplus.

depends on the situation honestly, but yes I do bring them on gold every 2/3 matches

due note they are at "30" cause I used them I don't liek dropping below a certain level of consumables

I'm defiantly not Broke ..I notably play "silver" for regaining my stuff allot and open up some Spec packs every 2 games gain some lvl 4 stuff etc. so on... but sometime sI want to keep a stockpile of TONS of the stuff notably cause I can't predict a drought of certain stuff so I notably go no equipment bronze-silver, 2/3 times equipment on gold and always equipment on plat, I also watching my stockpile closely ...and I comapire team synergy vs using equipment

if example a pure biotic team on gold... I don't need to bring equipment "why?" cause BEs do not depend on equipment but rank in the evelution of 2-12  (primer 1-6) (detnator 1-6) and any other explosion synergy massivly used...other words...I try to synergize on "gold" but if the team does not I will use some equipment to make up, I never "followed" the trend I was prob maybe the starter of it I unno....

I don't really care personally.

I will carry you with open arms, like I did with my friends. I used the QFE with the Incisor. I had fun.

If I don't know you and see a level 1 in a pug I'm in, I'll kick you. You might be a good player but nothing can really prove that (weapons, equipment, N7 rank).

If you play as a reasonably leveled character in the first map and scored well or consistent with the team, then switch to a lvl 1, that's fine, because I know you have an idea of what you're doing.
Even so, I don't like spending more time earning credits than I have to.

depending on your weapons and equipmen. I've rocked a level 1 in gold before, but it's not something for the faint of heart.

In a pug, yah it's bad form. I won't vote kick if I see the person using full equipment though.

I got kicked as a level 8 Turian Soldier with Rev X, using consumables (level 1 AR amp, CM and AP ammo). I thought that was a bit ridiculous. I wouldn't kick low level kits from gold if I thought the player looked solid (loadout, consumables etc).

So I started a public gold game, got teammates in wave 1 and finished in 2nd place.
