Is it bad form to pick a lvl 1 Character for a Gold match?

- lack of gear
- lack of mods
- shuriken, avenger, gpsmg, gpr, incisor on noncaster characters

Insta-Kicks are most likely unless playing with friends or rocking one hell of an impressive banner + weapon/gear.
Don't let these smooth talkers fool you. They can compete on Gold with a level 1, not you N7.
It is bad form, but if you have the cojones and don't give a s*** because you believe in your smell... Get some N7!

I got kicked as a level 8 Turian Soldier with Rev X, using consumables (level 1 AR amp, CM and AP ammo). I thought that was a bit ridiculous. I wouldn't kick low level kits from gold if I thought the player looked solid (loadout, consumables etc).
So I started a public gold game, got teammates in wave 1 and finished in 2nd place.
Is that a solid load out? If using a level 8, why not put on level 2, 3, or 4 consummables to make up for it? Why should anyone think you would do great if they don't know you?

So honestly I couldn't care less if you have Knights of the Round Materia and the frickin' Infinity Gauntlet for equipment.
...
I'm still going to kick you bro. Hella hard.

Saving them for Plat, in general. I suppose I could've used some level 3 ammo.
Regardless, I wouldn't kick anyone using that kit/loadout. So I found it kinda funny.
Doesn't really bother me though, like I said, I just start a public gold game and get teammates without any issues..

Excellent references, and a good point.
I don't think it's anything personal; it's just not everyone likes carrying teams, and the chances of having to do so greatly increase when you're playing with a LV 1. It's just about playing the odds.

I promoted a few characters the other day, for no real reason and I figured I'd choose a Gold match, even if my character (a Demolisher) was lvl 1. I put on the top gear I had lying around (III and IV), and my Black Window II along with a Hurricane VI.
Even with a nice loadout like that, dont be suprised if PUGs will kick you on sight. 90% of the sub lvl17 (and the vast majority of the lvl20's too) that i see cant hold their own. If i dont know you, i will have no reason to belive anyhting else applies to a lvl1.

Are You suggesting that more people should try to play 1 lvl's on gold becouse they will be carried anyway? With that approach we'll have 95% of the ME3 multiplayer community turned into lazy leechers sooner or later. Lvl's 20 are at least tougher to kill.

That's pretty stupid and shows they didn't know the class all that well.
At one point I saw a TGI with APammo4, AR amp3 and cycmod3, Harrier X(lol) and warfighter 5 but was level 1. The other 2 people in the lobby were trying to kick and of course didn't have any equipment on themselves. I just readied up because I was pretty damn sure the TGI could handle themselves and was already set up to do way more damage than them. Ended up having to leave because the 2 other dumbasses refused to rescind their votekicks.

A player with an Avenger III / Predator II setup raises a red flag. So I'm going to change my class accordingly or vote to kick if the other ppl in the lobby already voted.

What's the consenus of the BSN community, is it bad form to choose a lvl 1 character for Gold? Personnally I'd rather play with a pug using a lvl 1 character and maxed geared along with a UR weapon, than a lvl 20 character and no gear (which is all too typical, *the no gear part*)?
Depends on 2 factors - N7 level (not always a guarantor of good play ability, but better than nothing) and quality of weapons.
A level 1 character with maxed Rare or UR weapons and gear is going to be a force, even on Gold.
Probably NOT on Platinum - but on Gold, if you are really familiar with the map and spawn points - you can do extremely well.
But if it's an N7 level less than 100, with concomitantly low level weapons, AND they want to show the world how 'good' they are by trying Gold as a level 1? errrrrrrrrrrrrr, no. I would kick that person. While they might help you earn revive medals - it's not worth the hassle.

Who would you kick the level 20 character with a mattock X, low consumables, or the guy carrying all level 3 gear and a harrier X?

If you want to level up from level 1, host a U/U/S game. That should get you 250k points in 20 min or so. If you join a gold lobby with a lvl 1 character, you will just prolong the game. But honestly I don't mind to see a level 1 in a gold lobby. What I do hate is low levels at platinum pugs. They are numerous. I really do not geth it.
You can also buy several recruit packs. It's been a while since I've seen a level 1 character in a Gold lobby and character cards help minimize that occurence.

personally i won't queue a 1 for silver. if i'm going to join anything north of bronze, i want to make sure i end up contributing and i worry i'd just be a walking rezbadge without some points sunk into fitness and an offensive ability or two.

depends. nothing wrong with it if you can hold your own. plus throw on a level X harrier AR amp 3, warp rounds 4, and cyclonic 4 and some armored compartments and your level 1 will be the highest damage output in the game with more shields then their level 20s.
all depends on your skill and consumables used, but there is nothing wrong with doing so
A lvl 1 Destroyer with the setup you mentioned compared to a lvl 20 Destroyer with Harrier IV, AP rounds II, AR Amp II, Cyclonic II.
I'd take the lvl 20.
Level 20 with said gear
http://narida.pytalh...saultRifleAmp5/
Health: 850
Shields: 2250
Weapon Damage: 185.2
Level 1 with max gear
http://narida.pytalh...saultRifleAmp5/
Health: 500
Shields: 2500
Weapon Damage: 187.78
Difference is in powers not the basic stuff
That said, if someone is doing level 1s in gold (and are capable of doing so, not just tryingto leech), they should host or else once lag hits it ends up being very bad
I have only ever seen one guy with a level one use that kind of equipment on a gold match. He had a PPR X and was a friend of one of mine. We played about five gold matches in a row and he promoted after the third match. He scored over 100K every time and after he promoted we just had to revive him a lot more.
In a PUG I have never seen a level one character have a level X weapon and put on the best equipment, so my policy in PUG is to just leave and let somebody else take the chance that the guy is good or not.
In answer to the TO - yes its bad form to take a level one into a PUG Gold match.
