If good heavy weapon levels and skill
   {
   Ignore power cooldowns and bring heavy weapons and level 3/4 equipment

Else
   {
   Play a quick silver to level a bit
   }

EXACTLY. On any level 1, you better ****ing be bringing some kick ass guns.

If you bring a lvl 1 to a gold match, and gear fully load and good weapon choices made for the kit, then I don't have a problem. Ill take a decent player who knows how to play the game as a team with a lvl 1 kit over a lvl 20 who goes off and solos for most of the match.

I will be inclined to kick a less than lvl 5 Power based kit on Gold. However Soldiers, Infiltrators - they can still rock at lvl 1 as long as the player is good and have good weapons.

In pugs I think its bad etiquette to use a level 1. If you are with friends and they dont mind go for it. I wont kick you but probably wont be reviving ya either.

In a PUG yes. With friends, it depends on what your friends are willing to put up with.

I don't see a problem with lvl1 provided they have good loadout. But I'll unequip all consumables.

its just a matter of principle.
with friends, its fine, otherwise the loadout is irrelevant.

I promoted a few characters the other day, for no real reason and I figured I'd choose a Gold match, even if my character (a Demolisher) was lvl 1. I put on the top gear I had lying around (III and IV), and my Black Window II along with a Hurricane VI.

So being fully geared up I joined into a pug gold lobby, only to have one of the guys freak out. I thought that maye it was bad form to take a lvl 1 charcter into a Gold lobby, but at the same time having good weapons and gear on should show that I'm serious about extracting, and have played before. Anyways I left, joined a Silver match and topped out in points by a good distance, leaving me to think that maybe I should've just looked for a different group or told the guy that I can pretty much guarentee that by the end of the game I won't be last in points.

What's the consenus of the BSN community, is it bad form to choose a lvl 1 character for Gold? Personnally I'd rather play with a pug using a lvl 1 character and maxed geared along with a UR weapon, than a lvl 20 character and no gear (which is all too typical, *the no gear part*)?

come at me level 1 bros, let's play

(in other words, no.)

I easily outscored a PUG with a level 1 turian engineer and we managed to extract quite comfortably.

So long as you bring good equipment, play a class that isn't power-dependent, and know what you're doing I don't mind. My teammates didn't seem to either.

It's not about you, you, YOU and yourself.

It's about the other people who might not be skilled enough to play with a lvl1 on the team on gold.

It's fine to do it with friends whose skill level you know but it's rude to put other random other people through bad games just out of lazyness.

You can do gold with level I, but I never do that because of other players, they probably won't be happy with it, so I always do one silver match first, which is enough to keep other players happy...

The way I see it is if they can't take the 20 minutes it takes to play a silver to gain a few quick levels to help the team out, then that's not someone I wanna play with. People act like that extra 20 minutes is going to kill them or something.

With friends, I guess I would dare, provided that they are ok with it. In pugs, no. Hell, I can´t even consistently finish gold pugs with level 20. But other people may be good enough to do ok with level 1 even in gold pugs. It´s just something other players in lobby don´t know and I kind of understand that they don´t want to risk.

If a friend's doing it, fine by me.

I wouldn't trust a PUG to come through with it though.

im sure just about every player on the bsn has beat a gold match with friends as all level 1's before, its not even overly difficult...i know I have
that still doesnt mean im jumping into randoms as level 1.... does that mean that it "can't" be done or that im incapable of it?
nah, I just dont think its fair to the other people.

N7 level also helps me judge it.

N7 = 5231 sure, they've probably done it a few times and no they can handle it.

N7 = 324 ya right, insta kick.

There are 2 ways to read the bolded part.
First, the assumption that the level 1 will need to be revived constantly or have some sort of hand holding.
Second possibility, is that the other 3 are the ones that need hand holding aka they need to be carried.

Now the second possibility is not the level 1's problem. If they need to be carried, they should not be in that difficulty level in the first place. To say otherwise is laughable.

Now the first possibility is actually less likely to happen if you see the guy sporting cyclonic 4 on someone who has at least 500 base shields vs some other guy running no shield boosters or level 1s. On the damage side, if the guy is running AP 4, AR amp 3 on something like a harrier x, his damage is going to be higher than some guy running a harrier 1 with low level or no weapon booster equipment. Also the AP 4 guy has the option of dropping his penetration/HVB mods for something else such as a extended barrel with 0 loss.

Of course if the level 1 went to level 20 and kept the entire gear configuration, he would be much more damaging and effective but to say a level 1 with all high end gear/equipment/weapons is going to be a drag vs the standard pug doesn't make sense when you look at the actual numbers.

Why would it not be fair to other people?

I'm just curious. Certain level 1 kits don't really change much with added powers. Throw on level 4 equipment and it's just like being at least level 10.

maybe its an rpg mentality, if you arent on par with your "party" you weigh them down, period.
so many variables, like ive said its different if youve played with them before.

But they could take the 20 minutes it takes to play a Silver, put the points into fitness and passives and be even more help. I kick level 1's PUG's cause they're lazy and don't care not because I think they'll do bad.
