ForThessia, Liara is the ONLY squadmate that died frequently for me, no one else got downed frequently. In ME2 on insanity I didn't lose teammates very much, only in the hardest battles did anyone die. In ME3 on NORMAL Liara died in every fight when I used the tactics that had gotten me through the previous title fine. Tell teammates where to take cover and what abilities to use.
I found that too....choose your squad well for each situation and 'no deaths'....

well im from ME1 and when engineer was a necessity to hack stuff, liara was a virtual requirement when facing any krogan. krogan would stampede you if you didnt have stasis. id turn off their guys, overload their sheilds, shed stasis and garrus would unload. between stasis and warp, liara was a powerhouse. i always found kaiden and ashley both useless. liara>kaiden, garrus/wrex>ashely.Ignis Mors wrote...
Liara. Just plain and simple. Her powers are incredibly weak, and her voice gets on my nerves. But, of the three, i'd have to say that it would be Kaidan. Ashley may have irked me, but I never found much reason to save Kaidan.

As far as Liara, she's overpowered in most of the games, anybody that says her powers aren't useful couldn't have played ME1 at all, and had to misuse her in ME2 and ME3, regardless of Shepard's class. Every squad mate I've used a lot has had his/her moment of WTF are you doing, but none are constant offenders.

That really just doesn't happen any more than other squad members. You are either moving too far from her, or using the Move/Attack key errantly when attempting to issue an attack command after you have put her in cover.StayFrosty05 wrote...
Incompetent Squaddie for not staying where you damned well put her...she seems to feel she knows better and can handle it on her own and of course ends up dead...is one of the few squaddies in the ME series who won't stay where she is told to stay.
She is more fragile than other squadmates, but that makes sense since she has more powerful abilities. Even so, many consider her potentially an overpowered squadmate in any of the titles.
My best team is usually a Sniping team....in ME3 Shep, Garrus and Ash outfitted with Black Widows for pure distance runs....when CQC is inevitable I swap out Ash for James (his an absolute Tank with a good Shot Gun and his Carnage)....pick the mooks off as they expose themselves to charge him....My general set up for long distance is the triangle with Shep taking point and the squaddies flanking....unless I am going for the Turkey Shoot....surrounding the mooks with Snipers.....When running a Sniping team I don't want a squishy running into the thick of things...James can handle it, Liara can't.....I keep my squad close, it's not a problem of leaving her too far away and am a slow, sedate player...I take my time, hitting the wrong button would be an extremely rare avent, I don't recall it ever happening actually.....Liara breaks cover and attempts to tank....I suspect it's a matter of her AI stating she is too far from the action to operate, so attempts to place her closer to the action.

Jacob, however, is awful. He does provide some quality unintentional comedy, though, I'll give him that.

I found that with a soldier a great combo in that room are Miranda and Mordin. Miranda's warp and Mordin's incinerate just tore through the husks. And the ones they missed I got with my mattock.
Kasumi's Flash Bangs saved my Sheps *ss too many times in that room to ever leave her behind....

That does sound helpful. I never really gave her flashbang because Shadow Strike made me laugh too much.

In 2 I didn't really have a problem with Jacob, he was a friend of Shepard's. Someone he'd go get a drink with. (Or she, if I'm playing femshep)

Interesting little tidbit to keep in mind....Kasumi's passive power is glitched, it has no effect....so you max out her 'Shadow Strike', 'Overload' and 'Flash Bang', don't put in any points in her passive, it's a waste.
The Shadow Strike I found brilliant with the Sniping team...she gets the mooks who won't break cover and I love her comments while striking....

1. I would have never let that psychotic **** on my ship. (only did since it was the only way to continue on the adventure)
2. Totally outclassed once you get Samara.
3. Miranda is easily an equal in Jack's case.
4. Her loyalty mission is a whine fest.
