For me as far as teammates go,

Ash. I used her the least on ME3, even less than Jacob on ME2. Kaiden is very... capable in ME3 for my enginner Shep. Reave is really useful if you can Slam or Pull someone.

Jacob. Cliche daddy issues ....

There should be an ME Club for Daddy Issues:

Liara: Dad stalks her. Didn't really know her that well.
James:  Isn't even worried about if his dad is alive or not.
Wrex: Patricide
Ash: Trying to clear her family name due to her dad's muck up.
Tali: Had to deal with an entire trial to clear her dad's name.

I know. I hate this about Mass Effect. Don't forget:

Garrus: He and dad don't look "eye to eye", hates Spectres
Jack: Hates the Illusive Man, who can be seen as her father figure as she was raised by Cerberus
Miranda: Is being hunted by her father
Grunt: Hates Okeer, sees him as weak
Thane: Is a bad father and tries to reconcile with his son

And even Shepard's father is conspicuously absent in the Space background.

Grunt is iffy. He sees just about everyone as weaker than him, for good reason.

Anyway, would be much quicker to list squadmates that don't have some kind of parental issue.

-Mordin
-Javik
-EDI No wait, there's that rebelling against Cerberus
-Kasumi
-Zaeed

...I see a disturbing DLC trend for the majority.

I guess Mass Effect dads just suck.

Maybe it's a good thing I don't get little blue babies.

Jacob by far. Never use him and he is the less interesting squad mate imo.

Ashley has trust issues, not parental issues (and it was her grandfather who "ruined" the family name anyway; she notes that her dad and her were very close in ME3).

... I can't believe I didn't see the trend -_-. Yep, ME dads suck and I'm really slow for not noticing it earlier.

Edi. I don't really like her much for combat. She is not bad and I like her character though I thought it was cheesy to give her a body in ME 3 but in combat I just don't like her much.

Ashley. I loved her in ME1, cried a little on the inside for not getting her in ME2, and hated her with a bloody passion in ME3, for many reason (One of which is that she is completely useless and only serves as eye candy... Way to degrade her character -_-). I just have one question for Bioware, "Seriously?"

Funny, I couldn't stand Ash in ME1....but love her in ME3....as a hetro female her eye candy status has zero effect on me....it's her personality and lack of Shep worship that has me hooked in ME3....I LOVE the new Ash.

Ok, in ME1 I loved her for her tomboy attitude Though I didn't really like the fact that her xenophobia always got in the way), her professional soldier appearance, and the fact she was a TANK. Then we get to ME3 and all that goes out the window. I don't know -_-. I just hate how they kept little of original personality, got rid of everything that made her, her, and then 'dolled' her up. LoL, I like to tell my friends "Ya, when my Shepard was busy saving the galaxy, Ashley was busy getting a boob job and completely forgetting the fact that she is suppossed to be this awesome tank/soldier." I think I just hate her the most though because she was presented as such a strong , beautiful, woman in ME1, and then gets turned into a Barbie doll. Even her skills suck. I upgraded all of her skills so she has increased shields and health (with fully upgraded weapons) and she is always the first one to drop like a sack of potatoes on the field (Freakin Liara lasts longer than her!)... And the fact she questioned my every move and pulled a gun on me did not help her case. She is lucky I am a pure paragon. Maybe she's trolling me for bashing on her lol.

Garrus and his pop have a normal relationship. He just reached a bit of a rebellion stage in ME1, and never hated Spectres. If anything, he was envious of them. In ME2, he cut off all communication with his family and friends. In ME3, he and his dad get on again.

Grunt doesn't state he hates Okeer, only that he feels nothing for him.

Jack hasn't had a father, TIM was unaware of the specifics of Teltin.

Ashley's GRANDPA raised the white flag. Her dad got on well with her, aside from the typical teenage growing pains.

And everyone knows Anderson (or Hackett) is Shepard's dad. >_>

Ashley. Her xenophobia was really, really grating.

"Yes Ashley, we're going out to space; space, where we'll meet aliens. You'd like that, wouldn't you? Boldly going where no intelligent lady has gone before."
"ALIENS? LIKE DAMN GALACTIC FOREIGNERS, I WILL KILL THEM ALL. I'LL GARROTE THEIR THROATS IN THEIR SLEEP, AND IF THEY DON'T HAVE THROATS, THEN I'LL TORTURE THEM UNTIL THEY GO INSANE. AND I'LL END UP CUTTING MOST OF THEM INTO TINY LITTLE PIECES WHICH I'LL MAKE A HUMAN-SHAPED STRUCTURE OUT OF TO SHOW OUR SUPERIORITY TO THE REST OF THE UNIVER--err, yes Commander. That would be lovely."

Just not a fan of xenophobia, and her xenophobia was really, really grating. It was like listening to a drunk, besotted Englishman on a subway ranting about how foreigners are ruining his country. (And I say this as a British person myself, I've seen a few of these and they're what Ashley reminds me of.)

It's a good thing Ashley isn't xenophobic then.

She's uncomfortable around aliens, yes, because she's never really been around them (the horror!) - but that's one of the major parts of her story arc in ME1, but she in no way hates aliens or thinks they're inferior to humans or anything. Her point is that she believes that other races will act in their own self-interest when push comes to shove, and that's her concern (realism, not xenophobia) - and she ends up being right.

She's certainly somewhat ignorant about aliens at the start, but that's part of the point of her character, and it's pretty clear her major concern about having aliens on the Normandy is security-related not anything racist.

But yeah, the character who hates Terra Firma/Cerberus, considers Tali like a sister, tells Shepard to comfort Liara after you kill Benezia and exchanges praise with the Salarians if you asign her to them on Virmire is xenophobic
