Will we see the Warden again in DAIII?

At the very least you'd need two voice actors for the male and female roles. Imagine how long they'd have to spend in the studio recording dialogue for the various 'origins. Hell the mage alone has four possibilities (human male, human female, male elf and female elf.)
The Warden is likely going to be referenced only and I think that is a shame that the character that started the series is going to be reduced to only being mentioned by other characters and not be a part of events.

I can see how it would be difficult to have him show up. They had a voice for him in the sacred ashes trailer, and i'm sure they could get a female vo, but simply putting forth the effort to correctly import what our warden looked like and what he/she did and where he/she last was will be something that would surprise me to see. it happening is a 50/50 shot.
it happening and not ticking off a large majority of fans due to bugs of creating "their" warden, minimal.

However to answer xx-pyro I believe it is just as much about the protagonist, and the other characters, as the world they inhabit.
If I am not connected to the characters then why should I care about what happens to the world around them?

If I were any more intelligent the world would be a scary place.
As for the post above, it's something Bioware typically likes to say. They want these games to be about the world of Thedas and not be tied specifically to a certain character or characters, unlike Mass Effect which follows the same protagonist.
Also, I wasn't trying to be an ass, I just get really annoyed when people continuously ask for the Warden back so sorry if that's how I came off. It was an attempt at emphasis.

I took no personal offence. it is just as I said I've just recently started replaying DA:O and the search here didn't throw up a similar thread, so I created my own.XX-Pyro wrote...

I apologise of I am covering familiar ground for you guys but this is my first post on this board. I've just started replaying Dragon Age: Origins and this question sprung to mind.

I like this thought process.

I, however, cannot see why people insist that the Warden WILL NOT make an appearance. We simply do not know. Bioware could use the Warden as a playable character in the prologue or in various points throughout the story, hell they could even give him a voice and make him a companion (though I doubt that). Why not? I see no big voice differences between the races, meaning they wouldn't need a separate voice actor for each race. As for the voice 'not being what you thought it was', well to me the Wardens voice was just a default voice, ie my own, simply due to the fact that he didnt have a voice. If they give him a voice actor, personally, I'd be willing to accept it so long as they allow for you to express that wardens personality.

Wouldn't surprise me if we heard about the Warden's exploits though, like we did in DA2
Edit: and on that note, I[m fine with that. My Wardens' storyies are all told. Time for a new protagonist.

I don't think we'll ever see the Warden again. With the current insistence on having voiced characters imagine the work with having the warden there.

It wouldn't have to be a big role, so I don't think multiple voice-actors would be a huge problem. I think the biggest problem would be transferring the appearance of custom Wardens from an older engine into a game with a new, much different one (Frostbite 2). They could just settle on updating the default appearances of the various Wardens from DA:O

but I think a lot of people, myself included, would not be thrilled with that. I honestly think they should just leave the Warden out of the series from here on in. They'd probably have a much easier time doing a reasonable transfer of a custom Hawke. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Would people accept a silent Warden if it meant the character being in the game? Such a thing could be accomplished by having the Warden survive an assassination attempt. A failed throat slitting could result in the Warden losing his/her voice.

Putting aside my personal preference for a moment. Dragon Age II told us that both the Warden and Hawke are incredibly important to the events to come, so for one of the other to not actually make an appearance would seem very wrong to me.

And let's have them set on fire so we can't tell their features.
