Larius was on his calling, he was becoming a darkspawn

He's a Ghoul. You can't actually become a Darkspawn, as DG has said the only way Darkspawn are born is when a broodmother -- a Ghoul with a supercharged Taint -- gives birth to them. DG also said there are different stages of Ghoulishness, depending on the Taint a person or creature has.

DG wrote...

No, they don't turn into darkspawn. A ghoul is any living creature that has been afflicted with the darkspawn corruption and survived the process-- and there are different stages from your typical (the standard "ghoul" you encounter, or creatures such as the blight wolf or the bereskarn) to the very advanced (the broodmother, a being who has had their corruption artificially accelerated). A darkspawn is a creature that is born from a ghoul, but that's the only way they're created.

and utha(that her name?) was similar to a grey warden

She is a Grey Warden.

oh boy! got your quote out and everything. Thanks for explaining that tiny little detail. And I said similar because the architect did something to her she's not exactly like a grey warden anymore

I'd like to see the Warden make an appearance. I miss my Warden.....why we couldn't play as the Warden the whole franchise like we did with Shepard in ME is beyond me.....

Actually one way to do it, would be for our new character to just meet their LI (if the warden has one) and have the conversation with them. Then at the end of the cameo just seeing that LI walking towards the warden who simply greets with a nod.

That's very neat! Who would represent the Warden if they didn't romance anyone though? Depending on when the scene happens, I suppose Morrigan could be up for the task.

Hey, that's a good idea, and you could have the Warden theme from DA: Origins playing during that scene. For those few who may not know what I'm talking about check out the link below.

Oh, and I really miss your manga Liara avatar. It was cute. :P

With how horrendously bugged the importing is I doubt it. Was incredibly disappointing to find out it wouldn't recognize that I married Anora because Alistair was still around.

Maybe the Warden's corpse will show up. That would solve the talking problem.

Or you can have the same voice for each race;)

At this point, I don't mind if the Warden doesn't come back at all. As much as I like save importing, I'd like a fresh new game without the devs having constrictions as to where they can go story wise. If there had been more of an impact of our import in DA2, I might have a different opinion, but TBH, it wasn't done all that well in the first place.

No, please. I can't see the Warden appearing going right at all.

My Warden was a man who always did his best to help those around him, but was willing to sacrifice lives when he had to.
He never flirted with women or men, because he had no desire for a fling that didn't involve love. (And it really wasn't his fault Leliana thought he wanted anything but friendship from her.) When he did fall in love it was with Anora - and at first sight, too. He married her with the clear intention of winning her over, settling down and having a family. It wasn't a political marriage to him and he's all to glad to leave Anora to her ruling as long as he has a say in some matters.
He agreed to the dark ritual in order to save as many lives as possible, but he was never interested or attracted to Morrigan. He did, however, see her as one of his best friends.
He spared Loghain out of respect and never regreted it.
And as far as I'm concerned, he's still in Ferelden, happily married with a daughter on the way.

tl;dr

There is NO way they can design his appearance in a way that won't ****** me off. Leave my Warden (and my headcanon) be. He deserves some peace at last.

Apparently no one paid much attention to my last post because the idea there solved most of those problems.

My warden sacrificed himself to kill the archdemon his story is over, the only cameo he deserves is maybe having the new protagonist visisting a gravestone/momument dedicated to the hero of Ferelden.

No magic resurrection for my warden please let him rest.

I wouldn't want a cameo but I wouldn't mind hearing about the Warden in news or rumours. It would be a shame if we have another protagonist that just disappears without being heard from ever again (Revan).

If you want to see The Warden again all you need to do is find a puddle of mud, get a stick, crouch down and draw two dots with a line below and between them.

If they give Hawke more references then the Warden id go crazy. Since there are backgrounds I think there should be an importable background for the Warden/Hawke were it recognizes choices but requires re- creation of appearance.

Please pay attention. Not everyone sacrificed the Hero of Fereldan and would love to see the character again, even if for only a brief moment ingame in DAIII. :)

Sorry for necroing my own thread but I wanted to address this.

Leliana appears alive in Dragon Age II no matter if you killed her in Origins. David Gaider said something along the lines of death doesn't necessarily mean the same thing in the Dragon Age world.

So if Leliana can be brought back from the dead after getting her head cut-off, it isn't out of the realms of possibility that the warden could come back from death by archdemon.

I tend to kill my Mage Warden in most runs because I prefer the speech Alistair gives at the end.

i think is more trouble than it's worth.
The warden can be male/female with no preset face, no voice and could be dead, would you like him to appear with a hood up and without speaking?

We obviously don't know until the game is out, but the end of DA2 says that the Warden has gone missing, just like Hawke. It is fair to assume that if Hawke is to make an appearance in DA3 then so should the Warden in some capacity.

I, however, cannot see why people insist that the Warden WILL NOT make an appearance. We simply do not know. Bioware could use the Warden as a playable character in the prologue or in various points throughout the story, hell they could even give him a voice and make him a companion (though I doubt that). Why not? I see no big voice differences between the races, meaning they wouldn't need a separate voice actor for each race. As for the voice 'not being what you thought it was', well to me the Wardens voice was just a default voice, ie my own, simply due to the fact that he didnt have a voice. If they give him a voice actor, personally, I'd be willing to accept it so long as they allow for you to express that wardens personality.

The best way would be to have the Warden and Hawke in DA:I. I would pay extra to see the Warden kill Hawke and spit on his corpse :) He dont needs to speak for that..

It might be funny if the Warden did show up but with somewhat downgraded graphic appearance and the only speaking they were capable of were their battle cry phrases from Origins- but were otherwise always stone silent. Or maybe not.

Yes I would love it if both the Warden and Hawke had recurring appearances in Dragon Age 3.

It's really not that complicated to introduce a character who would be referred in DAII solely as "warden" with a list of accomplishments deliberately kept vague.

In DAO, did your warden

a) unite fereldan?
B) stop the blight?
c) probably be a huge source of useful advice and resources thanks to the experience and political power gained from a, and b?

...actually, don't answer that, they were trick questions.

The answer is yes to all of the above, because they are the only answers that the game provided. If you don't like the person in DAIII known as "warden" then feel perfectly free to simply dismiss the character as someone who wasn't you, and was instead some shadow agent we'd never heard of and was in the employ of anora or some other noble in the role of personal body guard/spy/master/assassin.

There are strong indications that the whereabouts of the Warden (provided that they survived) will make a return in Dragon Age 3.

However, I feel that if they return, they will only do so in some tragic manner.

If they appear in the game alive, I suspect that it will be at a point in the game's climax, perhaps in the midst of a pivotal battle, only to give their lives in some noble or glorious fashion (perhaps even pay an homage to Duncan's death...that would surely evoke some tears). Of course, this appearance would be short, sweet, and silent...actions being infintately stronger than words.

If they appear in the game dead, I would save it as some grim revelation. Picture yourself as the Inquisitor, tasked with uncovering hidden truths, and your investigation into some massive conspiracy reveals the whereabouts of the Grey Warden. You go through long trials and tribulations...only to find the corpse of the Grey Warden, tragically slain...yet oddly at rest. If one of your companions knew the Warden, it would surely be a sad moment for them to grieve the loss of their friend (Alistair and Morrigan, for example).

In fact, if you ARE investigating the Grey Warden, then perhaps a major part of the game will involve tracking down former companions of the Grey Warden, very much like what Cassandra did with Varric.
