its good to see someone else likes Vega as a character. He definitely didnt deserve all the hate and "Jersey Shore" stereotypes he got before the game released. He is downright hilarious. He's a tool. But hilarious nonetheless. (And we all have atleast one friend that fits that bill)StayFrosty05 wrote...

As for Kasumi...I know right....lol.......in all fairness, no matter how much I love her, she did not belong on a 'Death Squad'....but she did kick serious *ss....
Are Garrus and Liara the ideal squad mates of the series?

Who ever wrote garrus lines in ME2 and ME3 did an AMAZING jobMihait wrote...
I tend to go with Garrus + Tali nowadays. Garrus is pure gold with his lines, and Tali is love.
Mac Walters in ME 2.
Walters was his writer in ME1 I think, not sure who it was in ME2 (Garrus is one of the few characters who changed writers each game, while other characters had the same writer throughout)

I like his character growth a lot. I actually think Garrus and Liara have the most character growth in the series. The difference for me is that I was turned off about the change in Liara. The reason I gravitated to her in the first place was because she was so naive yet curious. That changed drastically.garrusfan1 wrote...
Mcfly that side mission was pretty good but I like how he got more laid back or at least less strict then he was in ME1. Also I know the side mission your talking about was in ME1
Garrus turned from someone that was anxious to make a difference, to someone that had experienced it and got used to it. And became a straight up boss. I feel like Shep and Garrus are the ultimate tag team. I hold them right up there with Chief and Cortana.

To be frank, Thane changed writers too.
Miranda also changed writers.

Liara gets slammed since it is apparently a fad now a dumb fad in my opinion. While I like James people (some at least) hate him since he replaced what should have been a krogan squadmate and EDI was ridiculous in ME3 with that body I loved her in ME2 and ME3 just that body was stupid.David7204 wrote...
The mandatory squadmates are always going to get the most flak. It was true with Miranda in ME 2 and it's true with Liara, James and EDI now.

For my female Shepard infiltrator, in 2 it's Garrus and Mordin, then probably Garrus and Thane or Legion. In 3, who knows, likely Garrus and James or Javik again.
I don't play to optimise squad powers, I just choose mates based on who I enjoy most. I play most games on the lowest setting because 1.) I usually suck pretty hard at video games unless it's something like Alpha Centauri or Master of Orion, and 2.) I play more for story than combat, so I want who will give me the most interesting dialogue or banter.
I have never used Liara, not in the three incarnations of sentinel Saemus Shepard, nor any of my throwaway characters, and I can't see my female infiltrator Tanner Shepard using her. I personally don't find her interesting and would simply rather have the ones I find most interesting in my group.

Lol Javik is the ultimate badass and the ultimate troll, all wrapped in one awesome character. He's one of my favorite squadmates in the whole series.garrusfan1 wrote...
Mcfly and stay frosty I don't hate James he actually grew on me. That said sometimes he gets on my nerves but he is cool for the most part. Javik is the character that annoys the f*** out of me not James.
Speaking of best squadmates to go into battle with: if you're a Vanguard in ME3, bring Liara and Javik and its a cakewalk on any difficulty. Borderline cheating. Biotic detonations all over the place.

Yeah Ashley got screwed when it came to dialouge content which really pussed me off. She isn't cold towards them I thinkDavid7204 wrote...
Ashley? Why Ashley? Ashley has less content than Kaidan and is somewhat cold towards Liara, Tali, and Garrus.

Well Thane's ME2 writer apparently didn't even work on ME3
I did not know about the Miranda thing however.

Yup. Thane and Ashley's writer, Chris L'Etoile, left while ME2 was wrapping up. Chris Hepler took over Thane's character in me3, but I am unsure who stood in for Ashley's character write up in the last game.

My ideal squadmates depend on (1) What class I'm playing and (2) what difficulty I'm playing on. Obviously, with the latter, if I'm playing more to try a story path then I don't care so much and I pick based on dialogue on the mission or who I think Shepard would want with him.

Tell me, are you capable of counting? Garrus is a mandatory squadmate...for half of a single mission?
Perhaps I didn't parley what I meant very well. I didn't care about Vega, EDI's spot could have been better filled with someone else, VS and Tali get their rotation when they become available, and Javik I basically only use on Thessia. Lack of choice was really just saying I pick them over people that weren't characters I previously invested time in.

Yep. Mac Walters wrote crit-path Miranda in ME2 (that is, everything that isn't optional, like loyalty or romance). Patrick Weekes did her ME2 loyalty and romance, IIRC.
In ME3, Jay Watamaniuk (that name is the antichrist) wrote her.
