What's the upside of ruling out IT? The downside is obvious, and I don't see any actual benefit to Bio or anyone else if they rule it out.

Pretty much.

It'd be like David Chase finally explaining what happened in the Sopranos finale after the cut to black. Speculation is a good thing from a business standpoint.

Wow.  It's like Firebase White Hazard out there this morning.  Howling gales, driving snow... only thing missing are Banshee screams and Brutes charging out of the whiteout.  Winter is coming.

Back on topic, I don't have the exact quote, but IIRC Walters or Hudson (or someone) responded to a similar question to this on Twitter by asking how long it took Ridley Scott to confirm/deny if Deckard was a replicant.

To borrow someone else's idea...

So, what's gonna happen when there's no big IT reveal in ME4? Perhaps they'll save it for ME5? ME6? ME7? ME8? ME9? ME∞?

The remaining IT nutjobs (all six of them) will continue to move the goal posts of course.

The majority of ITers have long since abandoned it with only a few pathetic remnants lingering about these days(the most fanatical and deluded).

I'm not kidding when I say these are the same nutjobs who come up with "theories" involving the Illusive Man being a hologram of the derelict Reaper from ME2, time travel and the entire trilogy being a hallucination.

Certainly is.  Why wouldn't it be?  Did Bioware canonize a particular and specific scenario at some point when no-one else was watching?

The IT forum can answer all your questions, and raise a whole lot of new ones, largely related around sanity.

LOL really? That's pretty hilarious. Does that mean Miranda was indoctrinated too, because she stood in its presence for who knows how long.

There are people who sincerely believe that the truth will be in ME4

I was not joking when I compared ITers to truthers all those times in the past

No, not really. Seboist's just being Seboist.

In fact, a quick scan of this particular page reveals exactly which posters are interested in discussing the game, and who's just simply trolling.

Notice that Shepard bleeds from his/her face, signifying doubt in him/herself. His/her face is of course his/her identity. Notice the return of the implants. We're tearing down the false barriers. I think the real Shepard is underneath. :) XD :) C:

I feel our reveal dlc is coming.

Hell if I know what they think about Miranda, here's the infamous "TIM is a Reaper" post.

and to show how deranged and egotisical these ITers are, look at this gem where one claims Mac Walters wrote the "greatest plot twist in history".

And I can assure you, there's far more examples documenting the insanity of the IT than this.

lmao at everyone who dismisses IT as not even possible when it is THE CENTRAL THEME of the entire trilogy

NO ITS JUST BAD WRITING LALALALALALALALA IM NOT LISTENING

I think you're all just pissed that you were a weak minded soul who succumbed to indoctrination. You weren't the true Shepard. It's ok. There can only be one you know. Even I chose "control" in my first play through

I would say it's pretty central to the Reaper story at least.. if that's what they mean. It's one of their most potent weapons.

I can't tell if this is satire or not. No way anyone can emulate IT stereotypes this well.

LOL

ME1: Saren was indoctrinated, Benezia was indoctrinated, the Thorian indoctrinates whoever it wants and actually had an agreement with Saren. The entire Feros colony attempts to kill you after you helped them with a bunch of stuff

ME2: you fight indoctrinated/mutated Protheans and YOU SPEND TIME INSIDE AN ACTUAL REAPER. The Cerberus scientists sent before you to study the Reaper detail their steady indoctrination that ends with them attempting to murder each other

ME3: lol I don't think I even need to explain this one

And for those of you who aren't as obsessed with the lore as I am, the Illusive Man was indoctrinated before the events of the trilogy ever transpired. This can be inferred from the comic 'Mass Effect Evolution' where you get to see plenty more evidence of indoctrination.

Losing interest in the topic is far more reasonable than continuing to btch about how you hate the ending, years after finishing the game

Everyone is free to have their own opinion, just like I'm free to have mine that I believe the story ended perfectly

I wouldn't call indoctrination the "theme" of the series, but it has been one of the Reaper's primary weapons and tools from the very start.

Know your enemy. The Reapers bend organics to their will. They use organic ideals, hopes and beliefs to further their own agenda. They alter perceptions and create puppets of their enemies. This is established and evidenced Mass Effect canon. That's wha' they do.

To dismiss the potential for Shepard becoming indoctrinated through Reaper contact out of hand is to dismiss a good part of the Mass Effect lore.

Having an opinion is fine but the attitude you're presenting in defending it rubs people (like myself) the wrong way. Both sides are guilty of this to be sure but that's an example of the way I don't want to see the community go. It's not helpful to anyone.
