because believe it or not, IT makes up a decent sized part of the fanbase, and they don't want to alienate those people. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for it to be true, but after all this time, it's very unlikely

They alienated me and quite a few others when they went from True RPG to Semi-RPG/3rd person shooter...

Mass Effect has NEVER been a true RPG.

The IT is only good up too when Shepard wakes up after choosing the Destroy ending, it IMHO doesn't offer much in what happens after Shepard wakes up in ruins of London...

I believe that is what sequels are for..?

It sure put Fable TLC (and especially Fable III) to shame, and those were the only RPG's I ever played...

I honestly don't think it would be a bad move for BW to come out with a DLC for ME3 next month expanding or opening the door into some new continuation to what ever the next ME title will be.

I am def still keeping hope alive. Imagine, the beacon call for all those ME fans out there to dust of their copies of ME and prepare for a new DLC. Like breathing life back in the game and the hype.

I will also admit, it would be a shock to see BW move away from the Shepard story and expand into something else in the ME universe. So much they could do with the IT not to mention how they could boast how long they could hold out lying to us about that theory lol.

Remaking the entire trilogy (so that graphics and such can match) either as three simultaneous games or as one massive game mentioned here.

Those aren't RPGs either exactly. Hardly any different than beat em ups.. although I'll be generous and call Fable an Action RPG. Try one of Bioware's own games to compare RPG experiences (Dragon Age, NWN, Kotor, Baldur's Gate).

I know Bioware have said (repeatedly) that the DLC for ME3 is over.  Done.  Dusted.  Finito.

But when you're talking a big gap between games - and the next ME game potentially being for next-gen consoles only - how do you build up anticipation and hype?

Release some new content for the existing game late in the development cycle, which poses some big questions.

Suddenly everyone's wanting to play the new game to find out what the answers are.

I'm not suggesting it will happen, or even if it would be cost effective enough to work, but when there's a big gap (and a console generation) between games, then new content for existing generation software would be an intriguing method of re-igniting interest...

They did it for the last game at least (Arrival). They planned on it for ME1 with a Collector DLC, but I guess that didn't pan out.

Actually, Pinnacle Station is probably a better example - it was released quite late in ME2's development cycle as well.  It was released 25th August 2009, ME2 came out 26th January 2010.  So - less than six months before ME2's release.

Precedence = hope.  Misguided hope, maybe?  I guess we'll find out.

Nothing wrong with that...misguided or not.

Personally, I don't understand why they wouldn't want to expand more. They got a good thing going. A lot of developers/companies would give their right nut for a franchise character like Shepard.

Doubtful. They've probably moved everyone over to the new engine already.

I joined late in the game of all this IT drama ( which still seems strong :) ) and ME3 ending chaos. After looking at many post and tons of videos and opinions, BW has made me very reluctant to take their words at post value until I can actually pick up my controller and PLAY what ever it is they are supposedly to or not to deliver.

With something like Pinnacle Station in the history books, i am still a bit hopeful they would pull it off again. I think the ME fan base is big enough to for them to make a good dollar off.

Because you can definately play something that they don't deliver.
I think there's a flaw in your experimental methodology there...

IT will never be ruled out. They would be insane to do so.

Even Bioware cannot deny Indoctrination is taking place. Its right in your face. There is more goin on than 'just' indoctrination tho. Lots more.

I'm amazed so many people refuse to believe IT, I thought the ending was great. It barely takes any thinking for me to see it and seems pretty obvious

You are thinking too hard about it...

If it can't be delivered then it can't be played...really simple concept.

No flaw on my end.

So as it stands now. BW is bascially saying IT is not a role in the ending of ME3. So in your opinion, what does that mean if BW truly had no intent for IT? You know something that was just fan made.

Except for this little glitch:

until I can actually pick up my controller and PLAY what ever it is they are supposedly to or not to deliver.

I would suggest either witcher or knights of the old republic to get a more of a feel for what an rpg game is like.

Your definition of what an RPG is is extremely narrow.  And to criticize Mass Effect and Fable for not being "true RPG's" shows that.

If its a matter of taste, then mention it. Don't assert it as fact though, especially since any definition you put out will be incomplete due to taste and subjectivity.

They did. It's called extended cut ending and more specifically, the refusal ending.

An analogy that I like quite a bit to describe 'RPG'ness is to compare it to gravity. If RPG is a sun (or a black hole or whatever) then games are like random objects in space. All games are affected by the gravity from RPG and most games do have some aspect that can be considered an RPG element; however some games are so far away that they aren't in orbit around planet RPG. Some games though do drift close enough that they become stuck in orbit. These orbits can be loose like Halley's Comet or tight like Earth.

The question then would be something like: Is Mass Effect Halley's Comet or is it a planet, ranging from pretty close like Mercury or far away like Neptune (sorry Pluto)?

Due to the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut, the IT Lore was disapproved. I kinda like the IT though.
