d/l any one of them by now is becaus there are suggestions either way. Is it possible to d/l Project Q now and then NWNCQ later? With that said, I plan on d/l some things tonight and hope to get some game time in. I would like to see some info on haks that might be kewl to have in the OC - and when I beat the game with a few characters, I will certainly start d/l haks and overides and such.

Are you going to play the official campaigns? Then go with the link pstemarie provided and get Q
Are you going to play a specific PW/module ? Get the appropriate hak
Then after you're familiar with that, take it a step forward.
IMHO..........

Thanks for the heads up and the links! It is greatly appreciated! With CTP and CMP, would they have any bearing on the OC?
No neither one will affect the OC in anyway. HAKs only modify the content of a module to which they are attached.

Ok I d/l the ProjectQ files and
transferred the files to their proper folder under the NWN main folder on my
hard drive after converting the files from .7z to the actual ending. I just
hope I did it correctly! Question – with Project Q enhancement, what changes in the game? Do enemies get stronger, or are there any plot changes, or the graphics being changed?

folder under the NWN main folder on my hard drive., after changing the files from 7z to the actual given title. just hope I did it
correctly! I guess we will see. I see on a screen a list of files, along with the required hakpak - the top three are the main OC "with PQ", and the two expansion packs (their name "with PQ", and then three more, which looks to me like the main game without Project Q. Do I need to download all six, or just the three that include Project Q.

7z is an archive format. You need to extract the files within the 7z file to the proper directories.
Project Q v1.5 - HAKs goes in the \\HAK directory.
Project Q v1.5 - TLK File goes in the \\TLK directory.
Project Q v1.5 - Ambient goes in the \\AMBIENT directory.
This will give you the latest version of Project Q - which works with the upgraded modules by Mask. The files on the Vault Listing are the modified campaigns - which say "WithQ". The others - that say "Archive" - are backups of the original files.
Eventually, if you decide to get into building you will probably want to grab the Project Q v1.5 ERF package, but it is NOT required to play the campaigns you have downloaded.

I tried the game out last night, and it seems to work fine! Thanks to everyone who helped me out with all this, and who put up with all my questions (haha). What is PRC?
Hooray!

Are there any ill effects to my computer if I d/l PRC? Is it recommended?
PRC is a HAK set - so, no there won't be any ill effects regarding your computer. However, the PRC is quite large and can be somewhat troublesome to work with IF you don't read the instructions carefully. On older systems it will increase load time for modules, as the PRC is very large. However, many feel the increased load time is a fair trade-off for the enhancements to the game.

It is possible that you have a video card that can occasionally be overwhelmed. That happens to me sometimes too albeit very rarely. If it is a video card issue I don't believe you can do anything about it. Since it is rare for me I ignore it. Others may have recommendations for you. But if your next few play sessions are crash free, I wouldn't worry about it.
With regards to whether you did anything wrong: Erasing the .7z suffix on the files you downloaded rather than extracting the files ( .7z is the suffix for 7-zip archives ) was not a good move. I assume that you subsequently figured out how to extract them, but if you are doing these kinds of things often, it is very hard to assess what is causing the crashing or even if you are playing the Enhanced OC at this point. I don't say this to you to cause a freakout, but rather to encourage you to read some tutorials on how to do basic things with your computer. With anything that I do I research tutorials on line and follow them step by step. I think this would be a good practice for you.
