I have no problem with the new game being in Orlaise, but please don't make my protagonist have an Orlesian accent. There is something irritating about those supposedly french accents. I put up with it with Leliana in Origins, but it really annoyed me.  If my pc has that kind of accent I'm going to have to play the game with the sound off!

Anyone else not like Orlesian accents?

I would rather the PC didn't have an Orlesian accent.

As much as I dislike Orlesian accents, it's still better than having a generic British accent like every other fantasy game, why is everyone in fantasy almost always British?

I'd be fine with an Orlesian accent... But I have a feeling that the PC probably won't have one. The game is supposedly set in Orlais, but that doesn't mean the player is native to the region.

At least Bioware has assigned different accents to different regions/species in the setting, so there is some variety.

Dwarves(and Qunari?) are American, the Dalish are Welsh/Irish, Antivans are Spanish, Orlesians are French, and Fereldans are British.

Because Tolkien was?

DA uses accents to indicate where the character grew up. Orlais and the latin lover spanish one are the worst IMHO.

I would hate it if the pc had an orlesian accent. It's just so irritating. I also hope that they tone down the other orlesian accents. Leliana wasn't so bad compared to the others (like Marjolaine or that de Launcet woman from DA:II for examples)

I hope the male PC sounds like Hubert and the female PC like Isolde.

I recall reading that Leliana's VA is a native French-speaker who grew up in an English speaking society so her accent isn't as pronounced. Leliana is half-Fereldan, so her accent reflects that.

I dont mind the accent. It was adorable with leliana. But I wouldn't want my character to have it.

It's quite a conundrum. Some people would love it, others would hate it. If the PC doesn't have a French accent, then it may require tap dancing to explain what the non-Orlesian is doing in Orlais.

Of course, if we are Orlesian, wouldn't we be able to speak Orlesian (read, French) with other Orlesians? Orlesian is its own language, they don't just have outrageous accents and only speak the common tongue.

In cases like that, will my PC start speaking French with English subtitles? Even crazier... what will the French localization efforts look like?

Sacrebleu!

I want there to be a button on the UI, that when I click it, my character yells "cwason'" or "man-u-feek."

I'm hoping wishing for a Fereldan PC, I don't mind a bit of "tap dancing" to explain it. :D

If the character is Orlesian, he had better have an Orlesian accent.

Pretty much this.

Also, while I wouldn't care either way if the protagonist is Orlesian or not, I sure as hell hope the PC isn't from Ferelden again.

I hope so, since all leans towards Orlais. Don't think they'll be though, just because a lot of people hate French accents.
