Well, then I want the game to visit the Anderfels.  Nordbotten, really? That makes me kinda fuzzy inside..

On a side note, shouldn't Anders have a Swedish accent in that Case?

Nordbotten was where the First Blight was conquered iirc =)

Anders is a second generation immigrant and grew up in the Circle of Ferelden. It's not odd he lost his Anderfellan Swedish accent! :wizard:

I only play female pcs. so If we really are from Orlaise, then I will hope the female pc has a cool voice, not a unbearable, overly exaggerated voice like Isolde's. I don't mind the male Orlesian voices, Riordan and Stroud are both ok,

My feeling is we're going to stick with the Fereldan, British voices, just because that's become sort of canon for this franchise...but I could be wrong.

I love how Orlesians bring out the real life xenophobia towards the French haha. I seriously don't care about this at all.

Quite right sir.

Orlesians seems to be stucked somewhere between clicheed 18th century french nobility and Monthy Python "Holy grail". But I guess it is a case of getting as much as you give,

I'd rather have the choice to mute my PC than earing a fake french accent. I really don't mind an orlesian/french accent, but only if it's a real accent. You can't imagine how hard it is for me, as a french person, to ear Marjolaine, Isolde or De Launcet accent. It made my ears bled ^^
Ok, I found fake accents funny in Monty Python Holy Grail, but in a game it's just awfull :/

Well if they have an accent like Leliana that would be so fine. If they are Orlesian they should have an accent.

If they have an accent like Marjolaine or Isolde....argh kill me now. I don’t think I handle an entire game of that.

If it's not too heavy then sure. I like accents, to an extent. If the PC is from a certain area in Thedas then he/she should sound like it.

"Supposedly"? Leliana's voice actress is actually French. She is a French woman, from French France.

It's hilarious to me that whenever the topic of accents comes up, Leliana's genuinely French one gets lambasted for being "fake" and "awful", but nobody ever complain's about Zevran's Spanish (or whatever) accent, which is totally fake.

Even though it'd be 'appropriate,' given a setting in Orleis, I kinda hope not. The Orleisian accent is very hit or miss for me based on the characters we've met. Some are okay, others I can't stand, none have been 'I could listen to you read the phone book.'

I'm a Star Trek fan, so I'm used to French people speaking with British accents. I can suspend my disbelief.

I'd love a French accent, if it's done well and not over the top (I'm lookin' at you, Isolde.) I'm beginning to get bored with the British accents.

Edit: Mom's straight from Marseille. The French accent can be absolutely beautiful, though I suppose you could say that for every region, given the right circumstances.

I want my character to be Orlesian which also includes the character's accent (makes more sense than being another Ferelden again). What I don't want is for her/his accent to be so heavy and exaggerated like we've heard (minus Lelianna). So yes for the Orlesian accent but no to the exaggeration.

I don't want a French accent for the Orlesian PC. I want a French-Canadian accent for the Orlesian pc. C'mon Bioware, you know want to... for Canada!

"Are you Orlesian?"

"Of course I am! Why else would I have this outrageous accent?"

I really hope that we have LESS Fereldan and MORE Orlesian NPCs in DA:I.

I really don't get Americans. The French accent is far less horrible than their accent, anyway. French is always smooth, sophisticated and calming, while American is often clunky, nasally and irritating. The latter is a closer description to my voice, TBH.

The French accent > any alternative that appeases French-hating xenophobes.

Ideally, I'd like to have Elias Toufexis (the voice of Adam Jensen) voice the male PC.

This topic again? Look I'm fine with an Orlesian accent, so long as both voice-actors are French or can do a good imitation of somebody native to France who speaks English well. What I mean is no outrageous comedy pronunciation. Somebody like actor Vincent Cassel or an actress like Marion Cotillard, who are perfectly easy to understand in English-speaking roles and in English-language interviews.

I'm going to stop anyone who is going to say that film actors are too expensive in major roles right now, because I'm not suggesting BioWare should hire either of those two. That is not the point I am trying to make at all.
