I hope so. My laptop is getting a little dated now, and it would suck if DAIII turns out to be too much for it....

Do we currently have any idea what the system requirements will be?

No idea. I might end up having the same problem as you so... fingers crossed I guess? :pinched:

You'd have better luck consulting a magic 8-ball for the answer than asking here. We don't even know for certain if DA3 will be released on the next-gen console.

Well Frostbite 2 is both a far more capable (and thus taxing) engine and a far more optimized one as well. I actually run BF3 better then I do DA2, which is either sad in DA2's case or spectacular in BF3's case (I think a bit of both). But assuming Bioware maintain that level of optimization, DA3 can look better and room smoother at the same time.

Then again, I dunno how it scales to the lower end, if that's the basket your sitting in.

I ran ME 1 on my old computer at 3-5 FPS.

Yes, you will be able to run it. It might run like crap, but the ability will be there.

Probably this. Can you run BF3 comfortable? If you can, you probably won't have to worry about DA3. You might have to turn the settings down a bit but otherwise, yea.

Honestly, the only answer here is we don't know. If DA3 is going to be for the current gen platforms I would say your old computer will likely run it just fine. If its a next gen title only then an older computer might be questionable. It depends on too many variable which are unknown at this time.

As the others have said, we don't even know if it's going to be next-gen or not... but we do know that it is using the Frostbite 2 engine as opposed to the Eclipse engine from the previous two games. That said, I would suggest trying Battlefield 3 on your machine as a questionable benchmark. If that doesn't run so smoothly, it may be time to invest in a new system. Otherwise, hold off until they release the system requirements.

EDIT: I would just like to emphasize that Battlefield 3 is a questional benchmark at best, and you may want to hold off on buying a new system altogether even if it doesn't run smoothly on your current rig. I would just wait until Bioware releases more information.

dont listen to them online programs, they say my system wont run dragon age 2 or mass effect 3 or call of duty 3, all of which play very well on medium gfxs on my pc an only reason they play on medium is my gfx only supports dx10, plus higher graphics normally throw me into a fit of washing machine top spin syndrom

That program sucks. I can tell you myself if you list your specs.

From my own experience I can tell, that if you meet minimum requirements, you should be able to play everything on at least minimum or medium settings. Current minimum specs for games are low (I can play every of my games on my old second PC with E6400, 8800 GTS) and I don't think that it will change within a year.

If you look for sales, etc. you can put together a gaming PC that will run most modern games at max graphics for around $800-900. You buy a cheaper PC that comes with a good processor and sufficient RAM. Then buy a good video card when it's on sale. Upgrade your power supply if necessary and viola! You have a PC that should serve you well for 2-3 years (or 4-5 if you don't mind using lower settings later on).
