Hi,
I'm trying to edit a string held within file 'core_en-us.tlk' using the String Editor. When I type in the string ID (370269) the string editor says:
*** This string belongs to a resource that is checked out and cannot be edited. ***
Is there any way around this, or is it simply impossible to edit 'core' game strings? Perhaps I need to create new strings and use those instead?
Many thanks!

You cannot change a string table entry for a checked out resource. You either have to edit the resource and change the string there, or check the resource in and then edit the string table.

Thanks for the advice. Sorry for being dumb but how do I do either of those!?

What string(s) are you trying to change?
Checking in a resource means finding it in the palette on the right side, rt-clicking on it, and selecting check in.

It's string ID 370269 which I believe is used for ability tooltips and is stored in core-en-us.tlk once exported (I think!). If you open the string editor and type that ID in you'll see what I mean.
Thanks again!

Bump.
Does anyone know how to do this? For example, I would like to change 400930 which is the initial text in the Chargen GUI, but it's not clear that there's a corresponding core resource which can be checked in.
