ive been looking on ways to improve me2 graphics in game config and i found some really interesting things that improve me2 graphics here are things I have added under C:\\\\My Documents\\Bioware\\MassEffect2\\Config\\GamerSettings.ini
i advise to add those commands on the bottom of graphics tab, oh and dont forget to make a backup of the file

EnableLightSHLights=True
Trilinear = True                                   - by default ME2 uses bilinear
EnableHighPolyChars=True          - forces highest level of detail on characters
StaticDecals=True                           - this command prevents game engine from returning to def sets
DynamicDecals=True                     -this command prevents game engine from returning to def sets
DynamicLights=True                       -this command prevents game engine from returning to def sets
LensFlares=True                              - this command prevents game engine from returning to def sets
FloatingPointRendererTarget=True      - indoor lights fix
SkeletalMeshLODBias=-1               - highest quality on objects and particles
ParticleLODBias=-1                          - highest quality on objects and particles
ShadowFilterRadius=5                    - this setting sets maximum range of shader filtering (small performance hit)
ShadowFilterQualityBias=2              -shader quality improved
MinShadowResolution=64
MaxShadowResolution=1024 or 2048 or 4096 - the higher the value, the bigger the performance hit, i dont use min and max resolution setting, because I can only see more triangles shadows and random artifacts
DetailMode=5                                     -Highest Video settings forced and locked for ME2
DepthofField=True                            - yes, ME2 has depth of field, but it's disabled by default
BioVertexShaderVersion=vs_3_0   - don't b suprised here, ME2 is using PixelShader Version 2.0 which is standard for DX9.0b, yet the game has full PS 3.0 support so you can force it  yourself

Now let's go to nvidia control panel settings

1. Right-click on your desktop and click on nVidia control panel
2. Go to Manage 3d settings and program settings
3. Click on ADD and select MassEffect2.exe file to create a profile
4. Change following settings as here:

Texture Filtering - Quality
Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias - Clamp
Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames: App Controlled
TripleBuffering-On (improves performance in any game with vsync)
Multi-Display/Mixed-GPU Acceleration - Single Performance Mode, unless you're playing using multiple monitors
Energy Management Mode - Performance Mode
Antialiasing - Transparency - Super Sampling x4 or x8, it depends from you
Antialiasing - Gamma Corrections- On
Antialiasing - Mode - Override application setting
Antialiasing - Settings - 4x (best balance between quality and performance, u can set x32 if u like and have really fast pc)
Antialiasing FXAA - OFF, when enabled, this setting visibly degenerates on screen image quality by blurring it, but it reduces antialiasing performance hit
You can use these settings on general nvidia profile to have better graphic quality in games

5. Ambient Occlusion, by default this setting is not avaiable in nvidia control panel, but you can enable it by using nvidia inspector, download it if you want to enable ambient occlusion in game
Open the application and click on two wrenches near driver name tab

http://imageshack.us...inspector1.jpg/

Type Mass Effect 2 in the search tab

Ambient Occlusion Compability - Open the tab and select Mass Effect Compability Mode

Roll down to Common tab and select

Ambient Occlusion usage - Enabled

Ambient Occlusion Setting - You can select Performance, Quality and High Quality (High Quality isnt visible in nvidia control panel). I reccomend Quality mode, because there are no visual differences between Quality and High Quality. Yet High Quality lowers performance much harder than Quality mode.

I would be grateful if ATI/AMD Radeon Owner could post ati control panel setting with forcing ambient occlusion. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy much better looking Mass Effect 2!!  :)

I'll play around with this someday on my AMD Radeon and possible post screenshots. Not right now, though. Exams are starting.

Thanks a bunch for these, I applied them all and the game looks loads better, especially the shadows. Awesomeness!

Edit, no performance impact what so ever by the way on a machine with 2500K, 8GB 1333Mhz, GTX460 (no overclock on anything).

Im glad you like those settings :) I cant use ambient occlusion because my old q8200@2,8 and gtx460 cant handle it :P

I haven't been able to get those driver settings to stick with Mass Effect 2 for a long time. It doesn't matter which executable I select, it just doesn't catch. Also SweetFX stopped working with Windows 10 or 64 bit Windows, so AFAIK there's no way to get Antialiasing at the moment. I was hoping someone else has had more luck than me.
