Grenades - totally out of balance

Grenades are grossly OP on bronze not only because they deal great amounts of damage to multiple targets but also for the high respawn rate of 4 per ammo box.
On the other hand grenades are close impossible to restock on Gold and Platinum cause ammo boxes give 1 if you are lucky while at the same time being less effective due to tougher enemies.

Higher difficulties are meant to be harder, that's why enemies hit harder and can take more, but why are grenades the only power in the game penalised twice?
(Even with Grenade Gear and Thermal clip Packs grenades are orders of magnitude less effective than other powers on higher difficulties. Full specced for Grenade count, forced to use nothing but Greande Gear and burning all 5 Themal Clip consumables it's only  4 additional grenades per round)

It is really beyond me, shouldn't it be the other way round: getting more grenades from ammo boxes on higher difficulties?

First you complain that there are too many grenades. Then you want more grenades in higher difficulty.

I think he's saying that due to availability grenades are OP on Bronze, UP on Gold/Plat.

On Grenade maps they are fine. And everything is OP on Bronze. Plus you have Thermal packs - use em.

Every grenadier should know by now that their effectiveness is map based (with hazard glacier/glacier being the worst) even with thermal clips and grenade cap 5. Its part and parcel of the power. I like it that way. If you cannot handle the highs and lows, then set the map to goddess, jade, etc

 all the dlc maps are fine for gold, most of them offer 2 grenades. on the other hand, from original 6 maps, only ghost and white gives 2 grenades from each of its 4 ammo boxes. imo, its all fair as you have to play differently on different maps. like close quarter character can have some hard time on open maps (flamer classes on london & yeah i know, infiltrators and destroyer are awesome on every map).

so imo its ok that some maps provide less grenades so that you have to use them carefully.

What? Whenever I get glacier with a grenade-heavy character I know I'm gonna reach 200k if I'm with not-too-uber-but-still-very-good players. Sure, there are few grenades around, but that is counteracted by the fact that the enemy is so close together that each grenade is basically going to hit all the enemies at once.

It might not be as good as Goddess, but there are way worse grenade maps around. Condor... :unsure:

Simply play a harder difficulty where grenades are better balanced.
Like you said, on higher difficulties there is a lack of grenades in ammo boxes (unless you're familiar with ammo boxes and which maps give you multiple).

Balancing grenades for use on Bronze without them being OP would require a patch, alternatively they could nerf grenades in general without the use of a patch, but this would result in crazy forums for months requesting grenades to then be buffed.

Oh, and believe it or not but there are players out there who still find Bronze difficult even with Grenades.

I don't get why there is a difference in grenade drop rate that makes grenades so totally out of balance. This is not a "gimme moar nades" whine thread.

Grenade and ammo availability should be set to that from bronze all the way to plat. The challenge is indeed a tougher enemy and the more difficult time getting to the box...I don't know who decided fighting without ammo would be fun in a challenge, but they were wrong. Weapons having lower quantity magazine IS the penalty, not running out at the ammo box.

Frankly I think grenade capacity gear is a little OP. Most grenade users can have 4 grenades by default, with gear you can have 9, more than double (and with Thermal Clip Packs, which most peopla have plenty of, you can fill those five times per match). Compare that to weapon amp gear which gives you a measly +15% base damage bonus.

Grenade Capacity should give 3 grenades at V, but I guess people would complain there would be no difference between every rank.
