CO. The correct term is CO - Commanding Officer.

CEO is something completely different.

Yep.

My FemShep is like a fag hag when she's around Cortez. And I'm OK with that.

I liked how the scene was handled and crafted, as well as the character's intro. It wasn't " apparent " to me (that's the only way I can put it) that he was homosexual. That's the important part (it's the whole point). Namely that within the Mass Effect universe (and it should be the same here right now, too, unfortunately, it's not and we all know it's not) you just wouldn't distinguish, nor would you actually care about someone's sexual orientation. What if BioWare decided to portray Steve as some of those "typical" (stereotypical if you prefer) gay men whom act and speak with feminine gestures and a high-pitched voice? That would have been stupid, but what do you think most people today (of course especially heterosexual men) in our reality think of when they think of a "gay man"?

Well that's the point. They think of them with stereotypical bull crap in mind, is what they do. So when I first saw Steve in the game I just didn't know, nor was it anything apparent to the eyes or ears. And if it was mentioned prior to the game's released then I wasn't aware of it, since I tried my best to stay away from early information or spoilers. So when he said "husband" I kinda just thought " ...oh! " for myself. You know like " oh ok, well that's your choice, you lost your loved one and the point is that it must hurt ". That's about it, so I liked how it was handled really, since the whole point is to show to us players that within the Mass Effect universe there's no need to overreact to homosexuality, nor is there any reasons to even question or "reason" or "rationalize" it. It simply happens.

That's also what Jennifer Hale mentioned in that interview, when questioned about her thoughts concerning same sex relationships in Mass Effect. Her answers to that question are inspiring, and they are simply true. It's the world we live in, it's our time's reality, it's part of our society(ies). And that a person "loves a person" (I.E. not a "gender"), and the chemistry is what it is and simply goes along, without regard of sexual orientation itself. You love, and love transcends gender... I can't put it another way.

Go Jennifer!

Here's the interview in question: www.youtube.com/watch

For all in tense and purposes, to humans (meaning FemShep), she is a woman. To a human, they would be having a lesbian-interspecies relationship

So, you're saying that you care more about your partner's sex than species? Interesting...

As I've said before, I think it's best to avoid the term since "lesbian" inevitably results in the reader inappropriately applying properties of implicitly human relationships to fictional interspecies relationships.

And just a note: It is canonical fact that "everyone likes the asari". If you interpret that as meaning that an individuals usual sexual preference is independent of their attraction to asari, then it follows that an individual being with an asari (femShep here) gives you no information about that individual's usual sexual preference - I.e. you cannot argue that femShep is a lesbian for being with an asari.

Ps: WTF is wrong with autocorrect since iOS 6 upgrade?

I found it kind of disturbing at first, honestly. But over time I actually grew to like how it was all played out. His interactions are particularly good in those scenes.

My reaction....'About bl**dy time!'....We have had hetro and  lesbian possibilities since ME1, it's about time it was all inclusive.

As for the Paragon dialog/interrupts with Steve to the people concerned....my Sheps done all and his not gay and does not become gay.....it's at the bar that you can hit on Steve if you want, just admire the dancing girls instead of saying "what about me?"....possible romance line is obvious.

That's rot.....Liara isn't 'lesbian' is hooking up with femShep, but femShep IS 'lesbian' in hooking up with Liara....Asari are female by human understanding and biological recognition.

Link to this 'canonical fact 'everyone likes the Asari' please?

I won't lie, I was a bit surprised. And then I facepalmed when I heard the "don't make me an anchor" line.

it does not matter what orientation you have - this line is bad. nobody talks like this.

I must be like, the corniest person alive, because I say things like that almost daily.

I actually didn't find the line all that corny tbh so I probably wouldn't think you were corny.

But yea, when he started to cry and played that tape.. I cringed.

That should have made him a stronger character.

Not gonna lie, when I first saw this and him crying I wanted to laugh so hard. It just felt so sudden and out of place, like Bioware was a subtle as an elephant in a room.

Both Steve and Traynor are gay, and both serve on the Normandy. That's too much coincidence. Being politically correct is okay, but there is no need to go overboard.

Um...what? I'm not saying I care about it either way. I'm using "interspecies" to describe it. I'm saying it is for what it is. Nyreen's relationship with Aria was also an interspecies-lesbian relationship. And it's not canonical that everyone finds Asari attractive. Sure, you have random NPCs say "but everyone likes Asari!" but it's not a fact that everyone is attracted to them sexually.

And sexual preference isn't really brought up in any of the games. If at all. Mentioned only during Liara's convo in ME1 with FemShep and then when ManShep hits on Traynor who simply says "I did tell you I found EDIs voice attractive." Other then that - it's an insignifcant part. Homosexuality isn't a big thing in the future - everyone turns heads on FemShep and Liara more because it IS an interspecies thing.

Says who?

Because the taboos that exist today would almost be extinct by that time, I can't imagine it be that much of a stretch. You do have to consider that, even though it's estimated that 10% of the population is homosexual, how much higher is it without the social stigma attached. I think you'd find that it would be much higher.

Poor Nihlus. He's going through his crazy phase that we all have to go through once on the Internet.
