Weren't the women of Sparta all homemakers?
Warriors/Rogues in Thedas fight mainly with physical power, like 21st century athletes and unlike 21st century military.EntropicAngel wrote...
I disagree, I think they should look to, like, actual "warriors." Women in the military or something. Not a track runner.

Which Dragon Age protagonist was "in the military", "with military training"?EntropicAngel wrote...
You're serious, aren't you.
You're comparing an athlete, who devotes all of their energy to a single field, to someone in the military? With military training?
I beg to differ.

Well it certainly helped that the Spartans enslaved hundreds of thousands of people.

People in the modern military also don't wear full suits of platemail anymore, such is my understanding.Selene Moonsong wrote...
Anyone who has spent time in the military knows that the largest number of men and women aren't ripped and muscular like someone who spends most of their time in the gym body building: they pretty much look like every day people. It is actually very few who actually look like the suggested images.
2 are swimmers, 1 pole vaulter, 1 tennis player. I can add more if you like.ShadowDragoonFTW wrote...
And why should they look at these women, in particular? Of the two images I see (two are blocked by a work internet filter, I'm guessing), they appear to be swimmers.
...what do swimmers have anything to do with rogues and warriors? I get where your intention is, I just think it's incredibly misplaced (unless there is something more in the two missing pictures).
A "swimmer's build" isn't the only athletic build out there, you know. Muscles will form in different ways depending on what actions you're performing to develop them.
Several of them, actually. From what I understand, a lot of current-day military trianing drills were derived from common militia excercises of the past, including those that would undoubtably be used in any guard detail. So, Avelline, being an honest-to-Make SOLDIER would be one, as would Sten, Oghren and Alistair. Zevran and Leilana also, arguably, depending on their specific training on combat, being assassins and all.iOnlySignIn wrote...

The best at WHAT THEY DO. Yes. How many of the heroes of Dragon Age do you see regularly sprinting for hours on end, hitting a tiny thing back and forth with a bigger thing, and using a form of pole to shoot themselves a dozen feet or more into the air?iOnlySignIn wrote...

The idea is simple. A Warrior/Rogue's profession is a physical struggle of life and death. The PC of a BioWare RPG is supposed to be the best at what they do. Hence, a Warrior/Rogue PC should look like a world class athlete. Of swimming, or other sport.
None of them? More like ALL of them. And please don't put words in other people's mouths - it is a very rude thing.ShadowDragoonFTW wrote...

Find me some pictures of people who regularly run around all day in 50-pound armor swinging about a sword and shield.iOnlySignIn wrote...
Also, for those of you who complain about the uniformity/monotony of the OP, who would you like to add to it? I'm happy to take suggestions.
