BioWare should look to the following examples when they design the body model for the Female Warrior/Rogue PC.

Weren't the women of Sparta all homemakers?

I disagree, I think they should look to, like, actual "warriors." Women in the military or something. Not a track runner.

Nope. They're the most liberated women in the Ancient/classical world.

Warriors/Rogues in Thedas fight mainly with physical power, like 21st century athletes and unlike 21st century military.

Well it certainly helped that the Spartans enslaved hundreds of thousands of people.

Not so. Spartan women had much more freedoms than their Athenian counterparts.

You're serious, aren't you.

You're comparing an athlete, who devotes all of their energy to a single field, to someone in the military? With military training?

I beg to differ.

And why should they look at these women, in particular? Of the two images I see (two are blocked by a work internet filter, I'm guessing), they appear to be swimmers.

...what do swimmers have anything to do with rogues and warriors? I get where your intention is, I just think it's incredibly misplaced (unless there is something more in the two missing pictures).

A "swimmer's build" isn't the only athletic build out there, you know. Muscles will form in different ways depending on what actions you're performing to develop them.

Are those also the suggestions for different kinds of armor they should wear?

Which Dragon Age protagonist was "in the military", "with military training"?

So nice of you to prescribe for us your vision of the proper female form.

Helotoi?

Then again, the oh-so hallowed first Attican demokrateia were quite the slavering warmongers themselves. Both were more patriarchical than anything, all things told.

On the topic at hand: since showing off the female main-character's physique would likely be reserved to cutscenes - mostly romances, I presume - it is up to BW what they do with it, since for the majority of the time the madam Inquisitor will be covered up in armour anyway.

Actually, I dislike all insinuations of what a woman's, or even a man's, physique should look like.

Anyone who has spent time in the military knows that the largest number of men and women aren't ripped and muscular like someone who spends most of their time in the gym body building: they pretty much look like every day people. It is actually very few who actually look like the suggested images.

That's a fair point, but I could throw that right back at you: which one was a professional swimmer?

And, in the military they actually fight. They train for situations where they're pushing themselves to the limit physically, which I imagine  relates fairly well to Dragon Age.

Not a swimmer who's concerned with muscles only used in swimming, or the runner concerned only with muscles used in running.

The training track runners get is VERY DIFFERENT then the training one would get in the miltia.  In the military they're far more concerned about stamina and strength, these are men and women who have to cary and weild very heavy weapon for long days just like a warrior of Thedas would be expected to do.  It doesn't necessarily burn off body fat like being on a track team would.  Maybe a rogue would look like a girl in gymnastics or track but certainly not a warrior.

... and the most liberated women of ancient Greece were those of Lesbos.

People in the modern military also don't wear full suits of platemail anymore, such is my understanding.

2 are swimmers, 1 pole vaulter, 1 tennis player. I can add more if you like.

The idea is simple. A Warrior/Rogue's profession is a physical struggle of life and death. The PC of a BioWare RPG is supposed to be the best at what they do. Hence, a Warrior/Rogue PC should look like a world class athlete. Of swimming, or other sport.

Several of them, actually. From what I understand, a lot of current-day military trianing drills were derived from common militia excercises of the past, including those that would undoubtably be used in any guard detail. So, Avelline, being an honest-to-Make SOLDIER would be one, as would Sten, Oghren and Alistair. Zevran and Leilana also, arguably, depending on their specific training on combat, being assassins and all.

The best at WHAT THEY DO. Yes. How many of the heroes of Dragon Age do  you see regularly sprinting for hours on end, hitting a tiny thing back and forth with a bigger thing, and using a form of pole to shoot themselves a dozen feet or more into the air?

...what's that you say? None of them? Yeah.

Also, for those of you who complain about the uniformity/monotony of the OP, who would you like to add to it? I'm happy to take suggestions.

None of them? More like ALL of them. And please don't put words in other people's mouths - it is a very rude thing.

Outside of talking, 75% of my Hawke/Warden do is sprinting. The other 25% consists of poking/hitting people with a small/large thing.

Oh, stop not getting the point. What he means is both should look physically powerful, not like a teenager girl...looking at you Hawke!

Find me some pictures of people who regularly run around all day in 50-pound armor swinging about a sword and shield. :D

Modern military gear often weighs more than a typical suit of platemail, from what I understand.
