Wow Seattle almost had it. The games this round have been sphincter tightening.

Well looks like I will be rooting for the Ravens over the Pats again... at least we have a good kicker this year.

The funny thing is the Pats used to be my team. Was born in New Hamshire and moved to Maryland around 1986. The Ravens being the only professional team in the area I put above my New England teams. Now I have to dread bgetting bombed by all my family again.

Damn, I'm 0-2 this time. Texans are getting whalloped, but it was a pipe-dream to think they could beat the Patriots. The Texans don't belong in the play-offs, but hell, the AFC is full of trashy teams this year. My Seahawks got close, though.

I'm actually somewhat relieved because now the Niners stand a better chance. I think they could easily pick apart the Falcons. I think they would've had more trouble with the Seahawks. Anyways, addiction21, these play-offs have really been back and forth.
I'm down to 3-5. I've been sticking it up with my predictions . On another note, Quackjack, you were dead right with your predictions this round.

Probably. After all, the Seahawks had just stomped the 49ers several weeks ago. But then again, the 49ers lost to the likes of St Louis, so who knows how they'll do on the road. Certainly if Kaepernick plays like he did last night, Atlanta is done.

Really hope the Ravens win too. As a Bills fan, I just cannot stand Brady and the Patriots.

Awesome divisional round! So happy my Patriots took care of business at home, and did it shorthanded. We were without Gronk and Woodhead after the first series. Doesn't look like Gronk will be back for the rest of the postseason either after reinjuring that forearm. Veeran had a great game though, really stepped up.

The gameplan and players may have changed, but the result is always the same. Offense gets off. Pats win. And Matt Shaub certainly made it easy on us for three quarters of play. He must have been channeling Romo on that gift of an interception over the middle. The thigh fumble was priceless too.

Looking forward to next week against Baltimore. Joe Flacco may not show up during the regular season, but his last to playoff games going back to last years AFC championship game have shown clutch QB play. Our defense gives up alot of yards with its bend and not break menality, so I know this won't be easy. This rematch should be decided by a field goal, I think it will be close like the last two meetings. I say Pats by three in a hard fought victory.

Did anyone else see that Tom Brady shout out to his family at the end of the game? And he blew a kiss to the camera? LOL. When did he start doing that? Or Bill Belichick's entirely unemotional reaction to the go-ahead touchdown early in the 4th quarter? Good times. The Hoodie stikes again. Go Patriots! Haters fall back.

Well that Broncos Ravens game was pretty pretty good. Flaco made the passes when he had to.

Who would have expected the niners doing that well? I saw Kaepernick pick apart the bears...and man, he has composure on the field far past his years. The niners look like they have a really hard working defense too. Did anyone watch their game against Seattle? I was surprised to hear that they had lost that bad.

I had money on the Seahawks today lol. I went from....well, its just ten bucks, to heck yeah I'm about to win 10 free dollars....to "well...thats why I don't bet in sports". Results are just too unpredictable, especially in the playoffs. Seattle showed great heart though.

The Texans and the Patriots was a good match as well. The score was pretty lopsided, but the Texans played very well. I don't hear at all the complaints on Houston. The Texans have a very good football team. Offensively, they did a great job varying up and spicing up their passing game, because in reality, that was their only resort. The pats are too good at defending the run. I was really impressed by Schaub and Foster. What can you say.....their offense was very well run. Dang....I remember when the Texans and the Nationals were expansion teams, now look at them now, in the playoffs in their respective sports! Brings tears my eyes it does lol

What can be said about the Patriots? They are all business. They are a well oiled machine. They almost always make it to the playoffs. When they make it to the superbowl, they usually win it too... unless they play the ny giants lololol

You are right. 3 and 2 in the superbowl. Both against the Giants. But the other team is the Ravens. As good as the patriots have been this past decade the Ravens have always played them tough (just like the Giants regular and post season) so I am expecting a great game.
These are my teams and it would or been the Ravens in the SUperbowl if not for Cundiff.

Ravens win by six and... I need to think a little on the other match up.

Ooohhh. The Patriots have lost to the Ravens in the playoffs? I am not surprised. You're right...the Ravens always play very very hard. The NFL will not be the same after Ray Lewis retires. He is an exemplary model, both on how to play the linebacker position and how to lead a life as a human being. I remember watching the highlights for that game. I actually think being the kicker is one of the hardest jobs because in those bigtime kicks....when the game is on the line....if you make it, well, it was kind of expected, but if you don't....well, you know the fallout is going to be bad, Lots of pressure.

However...I'll be rooting for the ravens too ^.^

Yes the Pats were knocked out one year to the Ravens (the later lost to the Steelers) but it will be a rough game.
With Ray hanging up the cleats after this season it leaves a gap. Not just in the defence but in the team. I know its been overused but he is the leader of the team. Not to mention he is still one of the best tacklers in the league.
My dream is he stays on as a D coach because there is no one else that can fill his role on the team. Flaco does not even come close and common knowledge is that the QB should be a leader.

But I got faith in Ozzy. That man drafts better then anyone else.

Well, I'm still pushing for a Ravens vs. 49ers Superbowl.

Here's my prediction for next week (not that it matters seeing as how I'm 3-5 in my picks):

Ravens beat the Patriots by a small margin, probably 2 points

49ers destroy the Falcons by 10-20 points.

I'm serious when I say that the Falcons SUCK against running quarterbacks. The Seahawks came from a huge deficit that the Falcons should've prevented. Atlanta's win was VERY ugly, and I can't imagine them going toe-to-toe with Kaepernick considering how much of a beast he was beating Greenbay.

I can't imagine Atlanta being as bad as Green Bay was against the run, they really had to work at it. But then I can only really speak of how badly the Packers played, I didn't watch much of the Falcons game yesterday.

The Falcons were beat by Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers twice this season. The second loss being worse than the first. Newton had 86 rushing yards in the first game and 116 in the second. Kaepernick is a Cam Newton-equse Quarterback.

I say, 49ers win this game by ten points. Kaepernick will tear them up.

So would I. I would be the one getting to make all the calls to gloat to the family instead of them doing it to me.

For whatever reason that reminded me of I think it was the 2007 season. Where the Steelers won both regular season games and the Ravens and Steelers were going to meet in the playoffs. Winning 3 games against a division rival had never been done and all the local Ravens were pinning their hopes to that.
I was just shaking my head.

Haters. I'll be cheering for the Pats on Sunday. :wizard:

Things are different this time around for New England. We're equipped to deal with the loss of Gronkowski and I doubt Tom Brady will play poorly in back-to-back AFC championships. Our defense can step up when they need to as they did in last years game. We have Aqib Talib in the secondary now. We're a top 10 scoring defense. And do you really trust Joe Flacco?

And I saw this video on youtube. "A bad lip reading of the NFL". Hilarious.

Good link I got some laughs, thanks.

But yes I have come to trust Failco. He is no Brady or manning but still good and he is far better then Trent Dilfer and the weapons that we got the superbowl. The defence is just as good or better now that its all together and not dealing with the multiple injuries.

Some food for thought. Post season stats.
Flaco
http://espn.go.com/n...pe/3/joe-flacco

Brady
http://espn.go.com/n...ype/3/tom-brady

Peyton Manning
http://espn.go.com/n.../peyton-manning

Eli Manning
http://espn.go.com/n...e/3/eli-manning

Rodgers
http://espn.go.com/n...3/aaron-rodgers

Rapistburger
http://espn.go.com/n...-roethlisberger

And even tho its not fair because the Pats got the first game by.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics

THis game can go either way very easily but I am expecting it close.

Seahawkes came close this year. I'm impressed. They really stepped up their game. Although I'm still happy they didn't beat Atlanta. I hope Falcons beat 49s. I like em' both but Atlanta all the way. Ravens, Patriots, I don't really care. All that game is to me is who's (hopefully) gunnu play the Falcons in the Super Bowl.

You trust him over Tom Brady at Gillette Stadium when the expectations for him in this game have skyrocketed after the win at Denver? Can he do the impossible again? Beat both Manning and Brady in the playoffs?

I sure do. Do you remember the 2009 wildcard game at Gillette 33-14.
Then there was last year and how close was that?
I got faith.

P.S.
Unlike Manning Brady has a bad habit of coughing the ball up for the Ravens.

2009 was fluky. When was the last time the Pats played that badly? Everybody expects Joe Flacco to perform now against the Pats. He's never had this kind of pressure. Lets see if he actually can perform against a defense that has recently made huge strides. He didn't play well in the first half of last years game from what I remember. And our O-Line is healthy and we have a running game this year. We aren't the same team we were in 2009, or last year, or even early this season when we played at Baltimore.

Fluky or not even the Patriots wins over the Ravens regular and preseason have been around 3-7 points for the most part.
I know the Pats have been turning it around the second half and its going to be a good game.

P.S.
5 consecutive play off appearance. Rookie year he went to the championship game and did the same the past two years. Losing to the pats because of a horrible kicker that should of never been kept on. They know the pressure well.

Not going for the pissing contest. They are right now two excellent teams, that are healthy, and I am hoping for a great game.

Edit: The text messages have begun. I talk more to the out of state family about these match ups then anything else.
