I see much more farming on Giant. The spot near the LZ which is also used for soloing.

I've noticed the higher Giant frequency too, started about 3 weeks from now. But the crowd seems a little different somehow, though you can definitely notice those a few who don't have a clue about their level or plat gameplay.
It's still much less frequent than R/R/P which can completely shut down an anticipated evening of plat gameplay. R/R/P frequency is almost on the same level as former FBWGG when looking for U/U/G.

Some evenings i tried to research every map/faction combination possible that wouldn't be R/R/P to no avail. A lot of the usual plat pug crowd picks U/U:obviously we're going to have some trouble searching for U/U, since it brings us into a R/R/P lobby a significant portion of time.
I remember an evening of disbelief: i quick-matched for 20 minutes, only to find R/R/P games, a R/Collectors/P game (?!), and an N7 69 host with Goddess/Collectors. Then i decided to host, took a newspaper which i had barely read to pass time and see how long it could take to fill my lobby.
Not a single player joined in 40 minutes. I stopped at that point, played a few U/U/G matches, started the experiment again: a player joined 2 minutes afterwards, and it was just the two of us in that lobby for 30 minutes, after which the other guy left, and i stopped trying half a minute later.

If anyone has the patience to stand in a small box for an entire match, they deserve the credits IMO.

What a lot of people here fail to see is, it's not about what they do and what they deserve. It's about regular platinum players being tired of getting thrown into Rio matches 95% of the time, sometimes fully geared up with consumables, just to
a) give in and join the team in the box and waste about 40-60 minutes and possibly fail because of an objective wave goes south
B) refuse to join the campers and go out to take on a ****load of bosses by yourself, possibly getting killed. And needless to say, they won't move out from their safe place to revive you, which is understandable from their point of view, but still...

The best fix for RIo Farming is to host your own lobby so you can play what you want. Mind your own business and stop plotting to ruin other people's fun.

You enjoy sitting in a box for almost an entire hour? Wating for the enemy to come for you? I see no fun in that. And if people want to earn fast, easy credits they should just learn how to speedrun Glacier. Oh but that's probably to much work right?

Playing 15 min. platinum speedruns for about an hour vs sitting in a box for almost an hour... Think about it people.

That's entirely subjective. Who are you to demand other people's fun to be wrecked?

Besides, looking at your manifest, you don't "speedrun" anything all that much. Funny that.

Its still not being explained to me how sitting in a box for 40 minutes is fun.

I haven't done a speed run since pre-retaliation. Mostly because the people on my friends list who did do it don't any more. I was a little late into the whole thing anyway. But the speedruns I did do helped me max my rares and characters and gear bonuses that were available at the time.

And who's going to join my lobby? Other players who look for real Platinum games end up in Rio lobbys because there are just too many of them.

Your friends will join your lobbies.

Also, I don't see how you can put "fun" and "Rio farming" in the same sentence post...

That means nothing to the people who are having fun Rio farming.  It's just your opinion.  Why should they care?

All I'm hearing is how there aren't enough UUP players to fill a single lobby.

That's because "fun" is subjective. There are people who find torture movies like Saw fun; I don't, but I'm not getting up on my soapbox and demand them to be outlawed. What you are whining about, is essentially outlawing the style of play that the majority of ME3 players find fun - who are you, exactly, to demand that? If there are so many of you, who think like that, by all means, organize and host your own lobbies. Shouldn't be that hard.

In fact, I've experimented today - I don't play plat, normally, but I've pugged for one match. Took me exactly ninety seconds to find a lobby that was played on Ghost. I'm on PC, so either situation is drastically different there comapred to XBox, or you are full of it.

ETA: Just repeated the process, got thrown into a match in progress - Ghost hazard, collectors :innocent:

Rio farming is an option.  You don't have to do it if you don't want.  And nobody should have to stop Rio farming just because you don't like it.

If my enjoyment is so important then:
1)  Get rid of the troll store.  Don't lock any content.  Go play what your want to play.
2)  Get rid of this STUPID in your face 3rd person view.  Who the hell thought that having 1/3 to a 1/2 of my screen blocked all the time was going ot make me happy?
3)  Increase the FOV to 120.  I'm not a carriage horse.  I don't wear blinders.
4)  Get the damn cludge out of the controls.  Why do I want my character and camera swerving all over the place?
5)  Get rid of the multi-function-one-button-crap.  Really, who in EAware thinks that frustration is fun?
6)  Get rid of this bull**** where enemy animations are uninteruptable and you can't apply any control effects while they are reloading, jumping over obstacles, winding up a melee swing, or picking their noses.
7)  Get rid of Tactical Cloak.  Everytime something is nerfed on account of Tactial Cloak, the infiltrators laugh and the rest of the classes cry.  It makes infiltrators the best at everything in the game.
8)  Get rid of Banshee wail.  Listening to 15 minutes of that crap is like being  waterboarded.

Because apparently, everyone who's not playing this game a certain way, is playing it wrong.

Neither were FBW/G/G and FBG/R/P and they were still cheap and boring and was a nightmare to find a "normal" gold lobby. Thankfully Bioware realized it too and fixed the problem. I'm sure they would've done something about the closet of shame too, if it wouldn't cost 40k dollars to push out a patch.

And again, fixing this is just going to make them migrate to a new spot. There's a bunch, whether it's the Reactor Cubby, Hydra Hallway of Lulz, or Vancouver's invincible barricade room - and all of them are, frankly, just as exploitable. You complained about FWBGG/P, and FBGGG/P, and now FBRRG/P.

If they do go and "fix" this, and in three months, the campers are at some new spot (and they will be, just a protip), You'll have done nothing but momentarily shaken up the rotation with this "fix." And, spoiler alert - We'll be right back where we started then.

And rest assured: I'll be right there to tell you I called it.

My experiment was just one evening singled out , and on pc actually. I did have other evenings with too high frequency of R/R/P, but it doesn't always happen.

It doesn't mean much if you find a game easily right now by the way, just as it wouldn't mean anything if my little experiment could only work a single time. Of course there will be evenings when i'll find games right away and play U/U/P to my heart's content. The issue is the frequency of it.

The issue is also how we can't single out a map to avoid it or avoid a lobby we've just fled, the general lack of a true search interface, probably not to scare console users. The issue is also that DLC business model where Sony/MS charge a high price for anything else than adjustment/configuration patches on games that actually need true patches because anything multiplayer depends on what players are making of it and that evolves fast. Then PC users of multiplatform games get stuck with console limitations in the process.

The point, by the way, still stands. If you don't want Rio, don't search for unknown on platinum when you know it's front-loaded towards farmers and defensive players. There's about nine other maps you can search for games for, and whilst I can't speak the same for you PC players, the Xbox version took me all of about a minute to get landed in a Hydra Platinum map.

This is like complaining about Big Game Hunters being a popular map in Starcraft and demanding its removal as a result since you couldn't spit without seeing some permutation of that map for the better part of Broodwar's life cycle.

Make the crate taller: problem solved.

Why not remove the crate itself: Because it's good for cover. Some of us use it like it's supposed to be used (running inside to regen shields or get out of the way of a brute). I mostly hang out at the front end of the crates, when dropped into a rio pug.

Why not remove the ammo crates: Because that ammo is needed. I would understand if they moved it to a corner or something, but I honestly feel like that whole side of the map would be difficult to hold without that ammo crate.

Taller works. Then banshees can get in so it won't be worth it for noobs to stand in the whole match.

That i agree with. Making a map/enemy to avoid into the search options would solve everyone's problems, I think. I've no idea how technically feasible that is however.

Rio's a stupid map in general. If they fixed all the bugs and the box, then it would be one of my favorite maps just because it's so good for grenade users.

Your suggestion was a monumentally arrogant one - it implied that your way to play the game is the only correct one, and the devs should do something to "fix" the way other people (a lot of them) play it.

It's nice that you're not a complete DB tho. Good to know.

So, let them find another way to camp then.  Rio needs to be fixed.  Staying in a sync-kill immune box is not a minor exploit, it is a huge one.

...And yet, using the box isn't reportable, like map glitching is. Strange that.

Just because you can't report it doesn't mean it's a small glitch.  Hiding in a box and preventing banshees from getting you lowers the difficulty significantly vs the other maps on platinum.

And just because people will find another way to camp doesn't mean the devs shouldn't fix exploits that currently exist.

Why do people NOT want an exploit to be fixed?  If people find another way to camp, more power to them.   Fixing exploits is always a good thing.

The easiest way would be to show a list of the joinable servers, and filter the ones visible by settings, including ping to host, something which has been existing for the last 15 years on pc, i wasn't into pc gaming before that.
The problem is that while it is a very practical solution, it's not as easily browsed with a controller as it is with a mouse, and not very esthetical either.

I never suggested people play my way. I suggested how to fix something. There is a huge difference. Like I said before I could make a thread telling people how to L2P.

Yeah I'm only a DB 99.9% of the time I'm not. :D
