It has nothing to do with camping, everything to do with farming.

We can go after "overpowered" classes and builds, but we can't be arsed to fix the Library of Congress-sized bug list.

We can "discourage camping" but we can't do a damn thing to fix idiotic things like spawn mechanics as they are now.

We can't fix the Geth after six months, despite them being complained-about ad-infinitum for that time. We can't fix the Collectors, either.

This is all about increasing lethality so people spend magic space points at the revolving-door-casino that is the store. So long as money gets spent there, they'll do anything to deal with anything that increases player survivability and thus contibutes, proportionately, to successful runs:

* Geth were favored to fight because no synckills and no grenades. Bioware buffed them.

* FBW was favored because it let players funnel enemies down a specific route, making it easier to deal with enemy swarms. Bioware nerfed it.

* Sabotage allowed players to induce friendly-fire incidents among mechanical foes. Bioware nerfed the hell out of the hack option.

* Decoy allowed players to draw aggro away from themselves and boost survivability. Bioware nerfed it to nigh-uselessness.

* Turrets and Drones could effectively draw aggro. Bioware nerfed their ability to draw fire.

* Players favored the Infiltrators and N7 Destroyer because of their ability to damage spike and reliably survive waves. Bioware nerfed Cloak, Hunter Mode, and Devastator Mode.

* Stim Pack enabled survivability for the Ghost and Havoc. It got horrifically nerfed with only a token buff to the Havoc in exchange, basically turning the class into arguably the worst Soldier in the entire metagame.

* Players had problems with enemies dodging and rolling constantly versus targetted powers and biotic/tech explosions not setting off correctly. Bioware responded by adding the Collectors.

* Synckills were complained-about since day one, and are buggy and riddled with problems. Bioware's response to player complaints was to make fun of it.

The Box is going to be nerfed, in spite of the fact that it isn't even a real problem.  Rest assured that when they do nerf the box, they will do nothing to address problems brought up everywhere on this forum since day one, and we'll be lucky if they address a thimblefull of the bugs.

Now shut up and spend magic space points at the casino, you mindless piles of uselessness.

I think they should fix it and I'll tell you why.

I farmed FBWGG when I started playing because my friends played multiplayer since launch and I wanted to have the same equipment that they did. I didn't gain that much skill and even learned negative habits that took time to correct from farming. It's better to have players learn from playing bronze and silver and making mistakes. Especially now there should be enough decent players playing in the lower difficulties doing challenges and whatnot that noobies can learn from by observing them or asking questions.

I know people want their lvl X weapons and whatnot, but you can be successful on gold using lvl 1 weapons and low level gear/amps. I played Gold after about 15hrs on PC and was holding my own and carrying bad lobbies with my Claymore 1 w/o armor piercing.

Just play the game and eventually you will get all your crap.

Also farming/cheating isn't fun at all, we must save people from their pain.

I'm not defending anyone and I don't see how you reached that conclusion, but regardless if you're going to point out manners then by that logic shouldn't you have the decency to exhibit the same? As for me proving your point, I can't argue that when you have not even made a point to prove. Incoherent ramblings do not a solid point make.

As for your literacy, I wasn't even referring to your lack of apostrophes. In any case the point is rather empty and meaningless so I'll simply say that even your reply contained no shortage of mistakes. Not that I care or think it matters in any way, I simply find it ironic that you'd try to lecture others on the matter of literacy.

Im not lecturing anybody on literacy. I will quote myself on a reply that Ive already made. Scroll up. Its there.

The funny thing is even without synch kill "box sitting" will make you die.
One banshee alone with her warp bubble expansion/burst and that traveling ball of warp doom can kill the entire team. Now double it, now quadruple it. Throw in two brutes, an atlas and a prime.

This folks is the reality of "Box Farming" on rio platinum, it's just as hard, seriously, I've ended up in no less than ten today and ONE got to extraction, the other nine failed on wave 8.

No myself, I don't use the inside of the box, I'll cover against the outside edges and shoot, banshee comes I'll back up to the lower left corner of the map and play "Chase me and DIE, Reaper".

Invariably I will have to run to the box, kill whatever just wiped out two or three of my teammates and then go back to my hide-n-slay. That box is a DETRIMENT it's not a protection, you can still die from things in there, brutes clip through, I've seen geth hunters shoot right through it, (Their barrels clip through the walls), so no it's not an end all, be all, invulnerable rectangle of "Ha Ha, You Can't Get Me!". To be honest I'm willing to bet everyone ****ing about it hasn't even done it, they're just jumping on the "cool to hate" bandwagon, I've tried it once and saw how much of an absolutely tactical failure it is to put everyone in one place TO DIE together.

this is laughable BS, why do it then.
so in 10 matches your TEAM didnt make it past wave 8, in all but one game, and you blame the box?
are you f' ****g serious?

Easier doing Glacier, smaller map, no waiting, no chasing, no ammo crate, no box, no excuse, no clue.

Here's how to really fix farming.

* Lower the credits. Make credits payable like XP. 15-25% extra for unknown/unknown, but in this case, you simply reduce the credit if the lobby picks a specific enemy and/or specific map.

I love looking for unknown/unknown and ending up in a Rio camping game, and seeing players with gamer tags starting with N7 standing in the box of shame. Some N7 battle tactics, huh? No wonder the Reapers won. All the "N7" players are hiding in boxes.

How about letting people earn what they want to earn, me I'm in it to unlock everything I can not everyone does.

Remove the ammo crate from the box of shame. An even simplier fix than Firebase White I'm sure. :wizard:

*This is just a suggestion ( don't get your panties in a bunch BSN )

That wouldn't work as they would just put multiple Pylons in there.

moving the ammo box accomplish nothing as you can just take a demolisher team and have x4 more ammo, move the ammo box outside the boxes and put unbreakable glass windows with "FU" written over it :3

If you played mostly UUS back in the days of the old FBWGG, then you probably have little idea how frustrating it was to find just a different game other than FBWGG. We did try to find new games, and we did try to make our own ones, but we couldn't find new games, and I know some of us can't host or they'll have to wait a long time to find a game. And not all of us have friends constantly ready to play a private game that was not FBWGG.

I did enjoy my share of FBWGG in the beginning, but that grew stale so quickly because that was the only game you could find the majority of time. On the worst days, there was nothing but FBWGG. I don't mind if other people enjoy it. But it was making Mass Effect MP quite one-dimensional when there was so much more to enjoy out of MP. It was the variety of maps, characters, and different challenges each enemies post on those different maps and to characters that kept me coming back. It's not that I don't like the color orange. Far from it. I want to like not only orange, but also red, green, blue (oh wait, maybe not, jk), purple, yellow, etc.

And so what?

If you pick out the whiny "all the other schildren doesn't want to play my game" theres no valid argument in that for forcing them to.

Now if people had argued about fixing bugs. That I'd get on.
Or getting a better game search engine. I'd also get behind that.

What I absolutely don't like is people saying:
"Alot of people like B. So many people actually like B that it's an inconvenience for me. Thus I want B nerfed/killed off so people only want A. Like me."

It's whiny, childish and egotistical. Frankly I'd be ashamed to make an argument like it.

So why do I see no petitions to punish cheaters who exploit "banshees on the stairs" bug, or flamer+reegar bug, or any other bugs and exploits that directly benefit the player? No,it's only the Rio box that apparently gets everyone's knickers in a twist.

There's no 'so what' about it. If a problem exists then it is always somebodies problem, if not yours, to ignore them simply because they do not affect you is, at best, myopic. But if those searching for UUP are truly sick of ending up in Rio with Reapers they are deluding themselves if they think removing an ammo crate and even the box itself will fix the problem, it won't. There are maps that can be farmed in Platinum that do not have an ammo crate or nice cubby hole to protect against Banshees and Rio is hardly the easiest one of all.

The cure may be worse than the disease.

Right, but you can't blame that on the players that wanted farming abated for the sake of not taking forever to find random games. Most players did not ask for more geth stunlock- that was mostly BW's doing. If anything, most players wanted Geth to be a more well-rounded faction w/ less reliance on stuns. They ultimately decided to implement the map and enemy changes and even gave their own extensive philosophy on camping. They aren't against camping per se, but they are against heavy use of it mainly because they want players to make better use of all the maps they took time out to design. And that makes sense really; if you spent all that time constructing a map and only saw players sticking to one small area all the time you'd be disconcerted too.

No blame intended. B)

@ 78stonewabble

I agree with Anduin. It's actually a legit problem for many dedicated Platinum players that wish to PUG. To simply ignore this problem is to alienate those who want to enjoy all of what Mass Effect MP has to offer. They didn't buy the game to only grind out Rio Reapers, but to enjoy all the other maps and enemy factions (though Geth is debatable :P). Rio Reapers is but 1 out of how many maps and how many enemy combinations? Why do those Platinum PUGers have to be restricted to just that combination? They too paid the game like everyone else did.

Like I said before, I don't mind if other players wish to sit in the box for 40 minutes. They have the freedom to play however they like that's within the bounds of what Bioware considers fair play. I'm also behind trying to get a better search engine as this solution would solve the overall problem the best. Fixing one map at a time is a lot slower in comaprison.

I've always just used the box as a fallback position. The whole team on one side of the map does help keep enemies funneling from one direction.

Honestly, I thought the old White and Glacier were pretty legit. New Glacier I don't really play too different, but the New White is so much harder because you have to keep repositioning.

I play PUG gold and platinum and actually see Giant far more often than Rio in platinum.

I kind of agree with the, host your own damn game if you don't want to do Rio guy. Otherwise, working as intended.

Yes, the stairs glitch should be fixed too.  ALL bugs should be fixed.

Some people believe that the Rio container isn't a bug.  Ok, I guess.

Others admit that it is a bug, but don't want it to be fixed.  This I just don't understand.

The "box"  was designed for players to go inside of.  You may disagree with the design but you can't say the design is a bug.  The players are playing within the design of the map.
