I bought the game purely for single player. But a couple of weeks after the release, I beat the campaign, and the ending "encouraged" me to play MP to get my money's worth.

Demo.

Joined a friends party and overheard them cursing out phantoms and freaking out when an atlas would spawn.
Downloaded it shortly after, the moment I got the Widow I went into gold with my friends and had a blast.

I never touched a Mass Effect up until the demo, I now have them all.

I've started playing MP only in late October, the SP was the only thing that mattered to me, then I stumbled upon the Retaliation DLC trailer and gave it a try...

When Mass Effect 3 came out I thought that multiplayer was optional for getting the best endings. After I played through the first time I realized that it was a must so I started playing around the end of March.

I honestly wasn't a huge fan of Mass Effect 1, for whatever reason.  Not sure why, just didn't enjoy it.  Mass Effect 2 was similar, although I never owned that game myself and only played it at friends' houses.

So, I was a bit shocked when a lot of people were talking about how much they enjoyed the Mass Effect 3 demo.  Per a friend's request, I went ahead and checked it out, and was near instantaneously hooked.  Bought ME3 at release, been playing the multiplayer since (although during the "gaming season" of 2012 I bought a lot of other games as well, and played those quite a bit more).

Demo day one, BF3 player.  OK, now I feel ancient and crusty, like a leviathan or godzilla.

Demo, early acces with some promo code. Built up a pretty nice manifest, I was sad to see it go when I picked up the game at the night of the release at 12:01am.

When the game came out. I played it a small amount while going through singleplayer.

Once I finished my first run through of that, I went back to MP. I haven't played the SP in a LONG time...

The day the MP demo was available to all (not just BF3 owners.)

I remember being pretty enraged when I heard that MP involvement affected the SP ending. My first playthrough the SP campaign, I refused out of principle to participate in MP. It was only after I realized that you literally could not get any of the better endings unless you played MP that I relented. To be honest, I was pretty annoyed. However, this feeling was extremely short-lived (perhaps for the first few waves) and now 400+ hours later it is one of only two games that I still regularly play.

I'm not too sure when, exactly. Probably early April. Multiplayer didn't really excite me too much and I avoided it for a while. After a month of MP I couldn't see why I'd be playing it much longer, but the (nearly) constant support it has received has kept it interesting, as has the community, and I still play it regularly.

As I had to fight my husband to get Xbox time, me for SP and he started MP at release, I did not bother with MP until I "finished" my campaign. Since I didn't finish fully and the huge cloud of disappointment followed me til about June.

Hey has anyone noticed the huge crowd of new players for MP? Is it really that people just picked up a copy at Christmas? So many level 1 weapons and gear floating into gold lobbies :(
