Yes we all hate it, boo hiss, but provided there will most likely be DLC for this game what would you like to see? (and no, "nothing" is not a valid answer)

Would you prefer to see DLC that adds new content, side quests and characters to the main campaign? (Warden's Keep, Exiled Prince, Return to Ostagar ect)

Stand alone modules? (Witch Hunt, Leliana's Song)

DLC that takes place in an alternate history (Darkspawn Chronicles)

Or something completely different and off the wall (The Tyranny of King Washington (Assassin's Creed 3), Garrus Vakarian PI (ok that last one was made up but it totally should have been made, hopefully it will be the focus of ME4))

Edit: In case anyone hasn't seen it here is Blood Dragon, new DLC coming out for Far Cry 3. While not exactly Dragon Age related I would love to see Bioware take a similar stance on DLC, Mark IV style mother****er!

I don't hate DLC. I quite enjoy it if done right.

That said, done right to me means stand alone modules, characters, really anything that adds significant content to the game.

The DLC I never buy for any game are equipment packs and or simply different appearances. Theres already enough "stuff/equpment" in the games and adding in overpowered equipment actually makes the game less fun.

"We all hate [DLC]"? I've enjoyed the offerings thus far. No hate here.

That said, I would like a hearty side quest that involves fromage. And murder.

Who hates DLC? Sure, it's a cash grab, but as long as the content is good, I'm happy with it. I sure do miss the expansion packs though. Too bad Awakening didn't sell well, perhaps we'd see more of them if it did.

From the get-go... probably a character with some side quests related to him/her. I like to have as many companions as I can because I like to see what happens if I kill off one here or there in different playthroughs

In the long-run... absolutely NO item packs; these are a waste of money to me. The only reason I downloaded the item packs is because I got free playstation store points after I got screwed by another game I downloaded. Rather than small modules... I would rather have a full expansion for my character like Awakening for Origins. I could stand waiting a year for it, and it would hold me over better until the next game. I've played Origins more than DA2.

i loved how they did dlc for dao. having separate things to import your character to. it just makes it fit incredibly well with the story and such. the dlc in da2 was handled extremely bad, i hate that stop your adventure and go to orlais for at least a couple weeks

The King Washington has me thinking about buying the game and Garrus PI is brilliant. Now I have thoughts of a Sam & Max/Garrus crossover.

When it comes to DLC I point to Fallout New Vegas.New areas to explore, new stories, characters, equipment, and the levels and perks were nice additions.
In other words something that adds a bit of everything.

While I'm not a fan of DLC I will set that aside and say that I can enjoy DLC that is relatively linked to the game - such as Return to Ostagar - but I'm somewhat wary of "canon" DLC.

Lore becoming "canon" - such as Sebastian Vael and the Vael family history of the Exiled Prince pack - I can deal with. Lore is one thing, you can hear about it second hand and pretend your new character heard the rumours. My problem comes from non-existent DLC choices from my characters becoming some unknown "canon".

As an example - If I played my first Dragon Age 2 game without the Exiled Prince installed, I would expect the events of Starkhaven to have happened - the Vael family no longer in power and most of them dead or missing - but my Hawke would never have met Sebastian. So if I were to encounter Sebastian in a future title only to have him tell me about my Hawke and how amazing she was, I would be quite annoyed.

I like to think my annoyance would be understandable. Slipping a few unknown decision markers into someone's save-game would be somewhat irritating, would it not?

So yes, anyway - If I had to pick a type of DLC I would enjoy more? Probably the stuff that is integrated into the game, like Return to Ostagar.

I actually very much enjoy DLC when it is done right. Legacy and Mark of the Assassin in Dragon Age 2 are prime examples of how to do good DLC. As was Warden's Keep and Shale in DA:O. The best DLC from a Bioware game so far has been Shadow Broker for ME2, so I hope the focus in DA3 is on re-creating something like that. Overlord was also very good and had a superb ending that actually had me close to tears. Arrival was so-so, but it got the job done, and Kasumi - Stolen Memory was actually very enjoyable. The Exiled Prince for DA2 and Zaeed - The Price of Revenge for ME2 were ok, but the actual quests weren't that exciting. I did like Sebastian and Zaeed though.

I haven't had time to play Leviathan or Omega for ME3 yet, so I can't really say talk about those. I really, REALLY enjoyed Javik - From Ashes though, so thumbs up for that one.

All in all, every Bioware DLC that has actually had any story that takes place in the same timeline where I can play my player character has been gold. I'm not much for item DLC, stan-alone DLC or alternate timeline DLC though. I think Bioware knows what their fans want from DLC, and I say bring it on. Haven't been disappointed so far.

Then don't include such an untrue blanket statement as part of your post.   Trying to insert an opinion as the voice for everyone just begs to be addressed.

I prefer new content DLC.
The only DLC I hate is weapon and outfits packs.

It was a comment made in jest and wasnt meant to be taken seriously, usually whenever DLC is brought up there is usually at least one person who joins the thread just to tell us how evil DLC is.

Diddnt think I would need to explain that but now that it is out of the way can we get back to the topic at hand?

i prefer expansions myself like awakenings, that aside id need to play inquisition before i could make my mind up about what id like for a dlc.

New characters dont bother me because if im truly honest the last few games from bioware i personaly felt the characters were all below standard, so i dont bother with them much.

Damn this really is hard for me to answer lol.

I liked the way the DAO expac and dlc when played unlocked equipment for your character to wear in the main story so something along that line i guess, thats really all i can think of rofl

Not sure how you can say all DLC is a cash grab, sure some DLC is but a lot of DLC is good quality that takes a while to create and you can't expect a company to continually give you content for free ( at least for single player content, there is a valid argument for multiplayer content to be free as charging for it splits your player base which can kill a multiplayer game)

as for the OP I'd like to see anything quest based like wardens keep or legacy and as a best case senario a full expansion like Awakening.

I like standalone modules. Usually by the time the DLC is released most people usually have a play through done anyway and it's nice to revisit old characters.

I don't hate it.

I liked Liar of the Shadow Broker. I liked From Ashes, The Stone Prisoner, and The Exiled Prince.

I don't care for Darkspawn Chronicles, Zaeed's Revenge, or Katsumi's Memory.

I prefer DLC to be part of the actual story, and don't like it when some companions feel less integrated than others.

I don't like the later DLC that was added with Dragon Age: Origins for it doesn't feel like part of the game, it feels more like a mini-game or a Facebook game that just happens to have my character from the main game. If its like the DLC where you get Shale (but less buggy) I would enjoy it, but Darkspawn Chronicles or Witch Hunt, I don't plan on playing them again so I wouldn't buy them in the first place.

As much as I have issues with Mass Effect 3, I like the fact that the DLC that has been added to single player allows me to visit those areas when I choose to, but will also impact my main game.

I like DLC and its a great way to prevent piracy, but ... some dlc is just wrong. Like Wardens Keep, that was the only storage area?

I think out of all of Bioware's DLCs I enjoyed the Dragon Age 2 ones the best. I liked that they had additional squad banter & one-on-one interaction dialogue, as it made it feel like I was actually back in the game with my friends, as opposed to walking around with silent automatons.

I also appreciated how the DLCs had slightly different content dependent upon your set personality (in Mark of the Assassin) and/or if you completed the DLC before or after Act 2 (in Legacy, if Leandra is alive/dead). Also, whether it pans out or not, the DLCs offered a choice option at the end to vary the possible results in DA:I.

How do people not get that this part was in jest? He said 'boo hiss' for goodness sake, one would think that enough of a cue in.

As for the topic at hand, I like all round DLC, some character/s, some quests, new weapons and or armor that are unique, not recolors, not the same as others but with better stats, unique, models, lore, flavor, unique. Look at what (and I'm sorry to raise this but it is a good example) Skyrim did with its two big DLC, there was a new area to explore, with new characters, new plotlines with those areas, new equipment, running from interesting to not so interesting and skipping either or did not mean you missed out on plot important things.

The inn in Redcliffe was also supposed to be a possible storage area; it was glitched. There is a PC fix for that somewhere.

If it were totally my call, I would prefer stand-alone modules that can be played after the game. I tend to only do one playthrough of a game and I hate going back to incorporate "during the campaign" DLC.

But in general, I prefer stand-alone modules.

DLC is good. I liked some offered. I think the thing that ruffles some people's feathers is Day 1 DLC, it gives the impression that it's something that was just yanked out of the Main game and re-sold to the public. I don't have an issue with it. You want it, buy it, you don't, no one is putting a gun to your head.
