I stated on another thread that I was against much Qunari involvement in DA3 and I felt they should save it for DA4.
But nobody ever responds to my ideas until someone else posts their own, nearly identical, idea.
Anyway, I agree (obviously) that the Qunari Invasion should take place in DA4. Makes sense as most of the major powers in Thedas will be weak after the mage/templar conflict.
I also agree a DA5 covering some other aspect of Thedas could be pretty neat. But not the, "Double Dragon," concept of two archdemons. That's jumping the shark IMO.
Regarding the bolded part, I sympathize with you. It's happened to all of us at one point or another, and sometimes more than once. Such is human nature.

They need to end the Mage/Templar War in DA3, first of all. The next few games after that should go over any conflicts intoduced in the first three games before moving on with a Morrigan/Flemeth sort of thing. Then they'd keep on going with other storylines until the franchise dies. Also, I'd prefer an Apocalyptic or Anarchistic Age to a Golden Age. Would be much more interesting.
Well, if that's the case, then I know what the name of the main character will be: Mad Max. And his castle will be known as the ThunderDome.

As much as I enjoy Dragon Age, after Inquisition, I'd like to see BioWare devote time to a Jade Empire sequel or work on some new intellectual properties. If that means we wait a while for another Dragon Age game, I'd be fine with that.
I doubt that will happen. Assuming DA3 is current generation or a combination of current generation and next generation console, there's no way Bioware will allow a potential DA4 to sit on ice, since it would surely be next generation only.

I wouldn't. It wouldn't make me stop playing the series, but it would make me unhappy. Plus an "age" in this series is a hundred years. It would be quite a leap for Thedas to jump from late-middle ages, early-Renaissance to the Victorian era, especially considering the fact that Dragon Age 3 will take place post 9:40 (the 40th year of the Dragon Age). That leaves 60 years for guns and steam-powered machinery to become a big thing and transform society completely.
I probably wouldn't mind such a change as much so long as things like top hats and monocles and steam-powered mechanical parrots and aviator goggles and other crap like that didn't end up tainting the series' aesthetics...

No.

No.

Everyone:
... seriously, they could! This is how I envision they could do just that, and keep selling millions of game copies:
1. We have DA:I coming out later this year or early next year. The focus for DA:I is the war between the circle mages and the templars, who have broken with the Chantry.
2. DA:? in 2016 could focus on a Qunari invasion of Thedas, and invasion that takes advantage of the continent's weakened state following the destruction of the templar-mage war.
3. DA? in 2018 then shifts focus back to the Blight — this time, however, the final *two* archdemons rise at the same time, meaning nothing but holy terror across all of Thedas and a final, heroic last stand by the Grey Wardens that ends the Blights once and for all. (Heh. For those of us who left our Wardens alive, perhaps s/he will be the First Warden by then!)
So, there you have. Bioware can dominate the RPG market for years to come, if they play their cards right.

Also, don´t forget the OGB/Flemeth/Old Gods storylines.
I hope Bio keeps popping out more than three DA games since there are so many possibilities. There is no universal rule that games have to be trilogies, expecially if they make dough.

That would be the end of the serie for me then. I never play or purchase any steampunk games. I hate that setting.

I don't think they would actually put DA4 on hold, you are absolutely correct, but Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 were being worked on at the same time by their respective creative teams. I guess I just really want to see a Jade Empire game with next gen technology. I found the first game charming and I can only imagine the directions BioWare could take it in next. However, I and other Jade Empire fans will be left to merely imagine.

I wouldn't mind playing a non-Dragon Age game with a Sandalpunk setting, that is to say, set in Antiquity or a fantasy equivalent thereof but with sophisticated machinery, often powered by steam.
The ancient Greeks had this primitive railway called the Dioklos, which was a paved trackway allowing boats to be moved easily across land.
Then there was Hero of Alexandria, who invented a steam-powered device called an Aeolipile, which was widely dismissed as a novelty; little more than an amusing toy. However had his invention been taken seriously and the Dioklos and steam power been combined, the ancient Greeks could have had an industrial revolution in the early Common Era!!

That's where I first heard of the Aeolipile and its inventor, Hero of Alexandria.
An alternate history RPG, with no fantasy elements, set in ancient times would be awesome. There really aren't a lot of those!
But I fear we are getting off-topic here. So yeah... Dragon Age could go on as a franchise for years to come, should it continue to be successful. :innocent:

Dragon Age was not designed as a trilogy in any case, so you're absolutely right that there is no rule.

Yes, that steampunk setting. The only one that ever existed. Ever.

I never played Jade Empire, but I have heard of the game. Hmm. Maybe I'll pay a visit to Wikipedia, etc., and learn a bit more about it.
As for the steampunk discussion going on above, I guess I would be "on the fence" if Bioware ever did decide to set future iterations of DA in such a world. I'd have to see what TPTB actually did before definitely saying I'd play such a game ... or give it a regretful pass.

Rather have BioWare make a new steampuck game instead of that.
