I'm really curious about the multiplayer. I hope its interesting enough that I can keep playing it. Then again, half the fun(or really most of the fun) of multiplayer is getting together with friends and having a blast, so I should question my gaming buddies and figure out if they'll be picking it up.

Otherwise, well I've got room on my friend's list for BSNers. :) Already some on there.

Oi Bioware, in case any of you fine ladies and gentlemen are perusing this thread, just thought I should point out something that Crysis 3 has that DA games have yet to have-

Well I'm a huge fan of Crysis, I've been following the franchise since 2005' so I'll definetly be getting 3. I made a thread like this not long ago. Plus all the stuff I've seen so far looks great, it doesn't help though that I'm a sucker for good graphics. As for Crysis 2, personally I liked it, even though it was different. The fact that it was more corridor, with no sandbox is what I think many people didn't like about it. Anyway, say what you want about Crysis 2, but it had one of most incredible game soundtracks I've ever, seriously, I mean,it doesn't get more epic than that. So I'm also greatly looking forward to the ost in the new game. As someone posted above, so far all the ost sounds gold.

I liked Crysis 2 but the plot was confusing and the levels were linear.

I have no idea what happened at the end of Crysis 2. The suits are living? Some guy got his personality replaced with another? What?

Well Its kinda hard to explain, but the nanosuit 2 is a semi- living thing, yes. (Nanosuit 1 I don't think is the same.) Part synthetic, part organic (made from CEPH alien DNA ), almost like a Reaper from Mass Effect. It forms a symbiosis with it's user. In the game, Alactraz sustains huge injuries at the beginning, but after being given the suit, it grows into him, semi-healing his wounds. If it were to be removed, he would die without it. I recall nanosuit 2 users being described by Prophet in the game as 'dead men walking'- kept alive by the suits.

The incredbily strong symbiosis between the suit and user, meant that Prophet had to kill himself so that it could have a new user (Alcatraz). However, because of the near-unbreakable symbiosis, part of Prophets consciousness remained within and becamse part of the suit, and he somewhat 'lived' on within it, even after it was fitted onto Alcatraz.

Alcatraz's larynx is also crushed at the start, explaining why he doesn't speak during the game, but by the end of the game, the suit has connected and healed him, which is why he speaks. However, because Prophet and the nanosuit are now one and the same, Alcatraz takes up the name of Prophet, because the nanosuit, Prophet, and Alcatraz became one singular identity. Prophet was still 'alive' within the suit, but Alcatraz himself was little more than a walking corpse.

That's likely why he has now adopted Prophet's voice as well.

Phew, anyway, I think that's what happened, it's still ambiguous and very unclear, no one really knows completely yet, but that's more or less what happened to Prophet and Alcatraz.(IIRC) Don't quote me on it though. :D

Crysis 2 was garbage and totally destroyed the atmosphere established in the first part.
It's like a really bad retcon.
Even the cinematic that shows how the suit works was changed (in C1 strength was artificial muscle fibers in the suit, in C2 the suit does some nanobot magic that makes the users muscles super).
In C1 the suit was just that - a suit. There was NOTHING indicating some mind-meld or that the suit alters human biology.
The atmosphere was good, the vistas were beutifull, leves were very open, the aliens were original.

Then C2 comes along and we get nanotechnology magic, biological body-horror aliens instead of hte cool ice aliens and a crap story that looks like what I just left in my toilet a few minutes ago.

^ It's not a retcon. In Crysis 1 yes you're right, they were just suits. However, in the sequel it's a different type of nanosuit. Version 2.0, that's an established and well known fact, that Nanosuit V1 and V2 are completely different. Say what you want about C2, but it's not 'magic', it's science fiction. A key theme of Crysis 2 is the idea of human augmentation and becoming integrated physically and mentally with technology. No where need to the extent of Deus Ex 3, but it's still a strong theme. In Crysis 1 they were just 'suits' like many other science fiction super suits we've seen again and again. Crysis 2 changed that, made the whole connection/ symbiosis between man and machine quite interesting imo.

What, you've never been a little excited about getting to play a game in a franchise you've never delved into before? Of course you have, so have I, so has everyone.

Hell I was the same way before Skyrim came out back in 2011 and that was my first Elder Scrolls. When I see footage of a game and obtain knowledge about some of its inner workings and they're positives, I'll react accordingly.

Truth is, I just find the state of the gameworld for Crysis 3 to not only be beautiful, but inspiring. It gives me ideas in my head that I can put towards other works of fiction.

The archery is just a plus.

Yes, I write. I don't even particularly like writing, but I've learned over the years I used to be in school that I'm apparently VERY good at it.

So I figure I might as well put a little work into some fan fiction, see how that goes, and take what I learn from that and past experiences and who knows, might one day write something serious.

The idea of the blended city/forest is something I like. I figure I can play around with it. Take that basic concept, mold it into something better fitting of the fanfic I've got in my head, and see how readers react to it.

So really, I'm buying this game for inspiration/research purposes. haha

I bought mine to run Battlefield 3 back in March.

Hopefully they'll have something that's twice as fast by the time Crysis 3 comes out.

Seriously? Battlefield 3 runs nearly 60fps in almost all the time on my HD 5770.

All this PC talk goes right over my head, hahaha. I used to game on PCs but long since gave it up for the ease of consoles.

Regardless, I hope all of y'all can run Crysis 3. The more the merrier.

I don't know about your set up. I run Battlefield 3 at 1920x1080 with only some graphics settings maxed out, and it still drops down to 40fps easily in a server with more than 30 players.

When I had the Radeon 5970, I was struggling to get smooth frame rate mainly because of the poorly optimized drivers for Crossfire. Sometimes it would drop down to 20 fps which made it completely unplayable.

Yeah after playing Crysis 1 I have to agree, Crysis 2's story and game mechanics took ten steps back. They also killed off some of the main characters through comics, a regular EA practice as it would seem.

Yeah its really not worth the time, I got bored of it really fast. It doesn't even offer as many options as the first did and it is way more linear and closed. The story also becomes very ridiculous at times.

In all honesty from what I saw in Crysis 3, it didn't seem all that different from 2 just that it had new guns, besides even if I wanted to get it, I can't play it in max settings even though its the only game, so far that I can't play like that.

^stop, don't spoil it all for yourself. Just buy and play the game, you can get it now for a really fair price. It's a great game imo, watch or read some reviews. Don't skip it and watch some walkthrough, it's a pointless waste of time. Crysis 2 is great gaming experience, and it's dull and pointless watching someone else play in a little youtube video. So do yourself a favor and don't skip it, it's definetly worthwhile to play firsthand. Especially if you're interested in Crysis 3.
