 if so, why?

The dialogue wheel is so vague and annoying, the only time dialogue wheel is good is if you can mouse over the selected options to see what the PC is going to say word for word

Yes, i don't want to read something and then have my character waste time saying the exact same thing out loud, might aswell be like DAO dialogue instead if it has to be like that.
The dialogue wheel gives the mood and tone of the response not a word for word copy it's not that hard to get used to

It was like that many/most (either) of the time in Deus Ex, but I never had a problem with it.
It's one thing to read something and another to hear it voiced.

yes they'll bring it back, and probably the goofy icons with it. I wish they'd experiment with new gameplay features instead of borrowing stuff from mass effect.

Deus Ex wasn't really like that. Even if Adam Jensen repeats exactly the line that is on the screen, he keeps talking oftenr for a full paragraph's worth of text after that, which the player doesn't get to preview. He may in fact have a whole conversation before the player gets to make another input.

Rather than paraphrasing, it's more like picking an opening line and watching Jensen build an entire essay off that.

Yes it will I believe they confirmed it and added that they may tweak it or something along those lines. I don't think its that bad, it's the icons that irk me. I mean really? Take a good feature from Mass Effect and dumb it down.. Really? Okay... Sure.

I don't have a problem with it but hopefully they improve the paraphrasing as it could be a little off in DA2

Here are some Bioware posts for you to read about the issue.

If you have any other things you're curious about, BSN user Maclimes has collected a bunch of stuff, complete with source links.

Dialogue wheel is fine, they just need to be better at conveying what is going to be said. Too many times Ive selected something, interpreting it as meaning one thing, then Hawke/Shep says the complete flipping opposite.

Also get rid of the colour coding for the responses, they make people assume that the green option is 'good' and the red option is 'bad' when it isn't that simple.

I hope so. I found it entertaining. I enjoyed the surprise.

I think the dialogue wheel is rather effective, and I don't mind that they bring it back, but I would like if they gave it more variety, rather than just Diplomatic/Helpful, Humorous/Charming and Aggressive/Direct. One more personality-type perhaps, whatever that could be.

Sounds like people are praising auto-dialogue levels above ME3 standards just because the first words happen to match. Idungeddit.

Yes. As to why... Well, I'm assuming because they consider it the best way of handling conversations. Why else would they use it?

i like having the voiced pc, but dialogue wheel needs alot of improvement. the paraphrasing sucks(never use sarcasm in writing on it), the investigates are in odd places on it. and why the wheel? its just copy and paste from ME. i mean really? be more creative and make it your own, like a diamond or square or something

Changing the shape of it seems pointless to me, unless somehow a square or diamond makes it function better.

Furthermore, they didn't just copy/paste it from ME --  they added the tone/mood icons.

Yes it will use that "stupid dialogue wheel". Deal with it.
