Seriously, don't they know it's NOT good practice to throw AoE fireballs while your front linesman are in the vicinity?  It's a mystery how we ever won back Denerim

Well least they are not dropping like Tempest or Inferno aoe's. But since I enjoy playing a melee character the circle never gets called apon at the end just for that reason.

Last time I ran into that random encounter with the mages and darkspawn I cast paralysis explosion on them and left them to die while I killed the darkspawn. The previous run-through they decided to cast blizzard on me and fireballed me as well, this time I didn't give them the chance.

Nonsense! The Qunari hate all mages, I just hate all mages that aren't me.

Seriously. Its like the tower in the fade .. maybe they really are there to hurt everyone.

Its what they do!

It was great lulz to watch my husbands character get fireballed by his "allies" on the Archdemon fight tho.

Yes, I wish someone had told Avernus about the whole "do not cast AoE fireball in the vicinity of your allies who are whomping demons, as they do not wish to become crispy critters" thing. My mage may have been the only mage in Ferelden to know that (aside from Wynne & Morrigan that is).

Yeah the random encounter with the Mage, two apprentices, and about 30 darkspawn.

The first time I got that encounter I ran up to the top of the hill to protect their backs while they nuked everything. I was a ranger and had another Mage with me so we helped plink away at everything while alistair tanked some stuff at the bottom of the hill.

The battle is almost over, (maybe 4 darkspawn left). Two get up to the top of the hill and the mages cast tempest and blizzard right on top of themselves. My group runs for their life. The two apprentices and the two darkspawn die (the head mage almost did). After everything was done I go up to talk to the mage and he says "I'm taking these apprentices to Redcliffe, they are young, but quite skilled as you can see!"

I stood there and mouthed out loud, yup, so skilled that they killed themselves. best thing really, they would have killed the entire army of Ferelden.

They don't know how to fight and this amazes me. How in a country full of powerful mages(tower or free) not one knows how to effectively use a sword or bow just amazes me.

This. I thought for sure it was some kind of glitch but obviously Irving needs to retire... no wonder the Circle fell!

I make Wynne an arcane warrior and she does pretty damn well with her sword.

The fade hurts your eyes, man.

It's so fuzzy! Ack!

The knowledge of the arcane warrior was lost until your character found the last remaining spirit. The spirit pass the knowledge on to your PC. The PC is able to teach others. Now you can have a mage that effectively can wield a weapon and wear armor.

Mages spend all of their time learning the art. If they took out time to learn how to use other weapons and armor they would have to neglect their main study. Perish the thought!
